Leave of Absence

When night fell, Adele's door was knocked on, and Mrs. Blake's maid waited outside for a while before the door was opened from the inside. The human maid who had entered last night stood aside after opening the door, while Miss Adele stood properly dressed behind it.

Miss Adele seemed to have realized that Mrs. Blake intended to invite her for a chat in her room. However, as Miss Adele stepped out of the door, she headed in a direction other than Mrs. Blake's room, and the human maid did not follow her. Mrs. Blake's maid was a little surprised; she glanced at the human maid before stepping forward to follow Adele.

She followed behind Adele, reminding her, "Miss, you're not heading toward the lady's room."

Miss Adele didn't stop, nor did she even turn her head. She simply continued walking, saying, "Do I need a maid to control where I go?" Adele's words left the maid stunned. Of course, she had no right to control Adele, but it was the lady's order.

So, she continued, "But the lady asked you to go to her room as soon as you woke up..."

"Hmph." Adele snorted coldly, completely ignoring the maid's words. The maid, biting the bullet, exchanged a glance with the other maid who had caught up and decided to forcibly execute Mrs. Blake's order. They reached out toward Adele, and in the moment they extended their hands, their nails had already lengthened.

Mrs. Blake's maids included lower-level vampires as well as those far surpassing them. As the wife of the Blake family head, one of her personal maids was even a local minor noble. Many of them were strong enough to rival the school doctor.

The two maids now were no exception. Adele couldn't even beat the school doctor last year, let alone two equally strong opponents. However, Adele felt that she was in great shape now—so much so that she could easily crush the two maids underfoot. And indeed, she did just that.

Adele looked at her hands, somewhat incredulous. She knew Molly's blood was of high quality. The energy from the little she had tasted last year had kept her feeling full for more than half a month. And that was just from a small amount. Last night, she drank so much that she was now brimming with energy.

A vampire's power largely comes from the blood they acquire, which is why high-quality blood fetches such high prices among vampires. Molly's blood not only smelled sweet and tasted delicious, but it also had excellent effects. If others knew how outstanding Molly's blood was, they might even try to capture her as a blood source.

Looking at the maids she had easily knocked to the ground, Adele clenched her fist, more determined than ever to protect Molly. She was about to do something that seemed risky but was actually worth trying.

Adele took a deep breath and continued forward. She arrived at her father's study door and called out in a strong voice, "Father, Adele Blake requests an audience." The door to the study was opened from the inside by her father's attendant, who bowed and invited Adele inside.

She waited for a while in the reception room outside the study before the attendant invited her into the study.

When Adele entered, the head of the Blake family was busy writing behind his desk. As the family head, he had many things to take care of. Seeing Adele arrive, he pointed to the sofa in front of the desk and said, "Sit down."

Adele obediently sat on the sofa, and the attendant brought her some tea, adding the special artificial blood sugar cube for her, before bowing and leaving the study.

Adele sat in a perfectly upright position on the sofa, her back straight in the most aristocratic posture Mrs. Blake had taught her. She sat there for a long time, with the head of the Blake family not stopping his work. The sound of the quill dipping in ink and writing on paper echoed with a "shhh-shhh" sound.

This sound continued for a long time until a stack of documents was finished. Only then did the head of the Blake family stop writing. He placed the quill aside, got up, and walked over to Adele.

The head of the Blake family sat down across from Adele. After sitting down and observing her for a while, he finally spoke, "So, is there something you need to discuss with me right after coming out of your room? Surely, it's not to complain about your mother?"

If that was indeed the reason, the head of the Blake family would likely kick Adele out of the room without hesitation, forcing her to face her mother instead of running to him for refuge. But immediately, Adele shook her head.

She had not come to her father for that reason; instead, she spoke up, "I want to make a deal with you, Father."

The head of the Blake family became interested, "A deal with me? What kind of deal?"

Adele relaxed a little as she looked at the head of the Blake family, then began to outline her plan. As they were having a pleasant conversation, Mrs. Blake heard about Adele knocking down her maids and going to the family head's study.

Mrs. Blake was furious. She had thought that the already defeated Adele would obediently come to her, but she never expected Adele to do something so brazen after coming out. By knocking down the maids, Adele had not only disobeyed her but also thrown her dignity to the ground. Everyone knew the maids were following her orders to bring Adele over. Thinking about this, Mrs. Blake couldn't sit still any longer. She left her room and headed straight for the family head's study.

She naturally didn't need to be announced. In no time, she passed through two doors. Before the second door even opened, she heard the voices of Adele and the family head conversing inside. Her usually stern husband sounded in a good mood, which made Mrs. Blake even more upset.

Mrs. Blake directly opened the door, and the father and daughter inside looked at her simultaneously. She suppressed her anger and called out Adele's name, "Adele, don't you think you owe me an explanation?"

Adele looked straight at her father, only for him to choose to betray her: "I only promised not to side with your mother, but that doesn't mean I'll side with you either. If you can't handle such a small matter, how can I trust you to fulfill our deal?"

Old fox—

Adele cursed inwardly. She knew it wouldn't be that simple.

The head of the Blake family gestured, signaling that it was time to see off his wife and daughter. Adele knew there was no point in staying any longer, and it would only become more undignified. So she stood up and followed Mrs. Blake back to her room.

On the way, Mrs. Blake walked briskly, almost creating a gust of wind as she walked. Shortly after they reached her mother's room, Mrs. Blake sat heavily on the sofa, her movements loud and forceful, entirely different from the ladylike manner she usually taught Adele to uphold.

Mrs. Blake didn't offer Adele a seat, but Adele seated herself across from her mother anyway. Seeing that Mrs. Blake had no intention of speaking, Adele took the initiative, "Mother, to be honest, I don't want to get married. At least not now."

——In the future, when I'm strong enough that no one dares to interfere with my decisions, and more importantly, if Molly is willing, then I might consider marrying Molly.

Her words infuriated Mrs. Blake: "I thought you had learned your lesson after being confined for so long. What do you hope to gain by defying your parents? If you don't want to continue being confined, then obey me and your father!"

Unlike the head of the Blake family, Mrs. Blake was not someone who could be easily swayed—in fact, she was a very stubborn person. Adele might be able to gain some leverage from her father through negotiation, but it was difficult to achieve her goals with her mother using the same method.

In the end, it escalated into a fierce argument.

By the time word of the situation reached Molly's ears, the story had changed to: "Did you hear? Miss Adele stabbed the lady and ran away!"

After Adele left the room and the maids at the door were gone, Molly sat in the room for a long time. From last night until now, Adele had eaten her fill, but Molly hadn't eaten anything. While Molly wouldn't starve easily, as a foodie, she felt it was time to eat after missing several meals. She walked out of Adele's room, not forgetting to tie a scarf around her neck to cover the bite marks Adele had left.

She wasn't early when she arrived, and most of the maids had finished eating. As she left the dining room, she noticed that the atmosphere in the castle was very tense. Then she overheard the sentence that made her head nearly explode... What did they mean Adele stabbed the lady and ran away? Didn't she leave earlier full of confidence?

Molly froze for a moment, then saw the vampire maids turning their gaze toward her, their eyes focusing on her neck. Clearly, the scent of blood from her neck hadn't entirely dissipated. She hadn't noticed Adele leaving the castle because the castle was where Adele had stayed the longest, and her room, where she had been confined for over half a month, was now the place where Adele's scent was the strongest.

If a stranger entered the castle, Molly could easily detect it, but it wasn't so easy to notice if a resident disappeared. She always used her hearing and sense of smell to determine the location of others when passing under the vampires' radar, but now she had no idea how far away Adele was.

Molly was a bit agitated; after all, Adele had just drunk her blood last night, and now she had run off, giving Molly the feeling of being ghosted after a one-night stand.

Ignoring the looks from the vampire maids, Molly walked up to them and said, "Please tell the head maid that I need to take a leave of absence." Then she left without looking back, ignoring the maids calling after her.

She returned to Adele's room, packed a suitcase of clothes, then went to her room to grab two sets of casual clothes to stuff into the suitcase. After finishing all this, Molly left with her suitcase, ready to hunt down the "heartless" Adele.
