Let's Set Off

Molly had been prepared for this from the very beginning. Initially, her plan was for the human resistance to gradually overthrow the vampire regime by fighting and surviving off their victories. After all, her goal was to work hard for twenty years and then retire. If the human resistance were to be defeated by the vampires after she retired, she didn't want to be pulled back into the fray. No, that was absolutely out of the question.

Molly had come up with two strategies: the first was for the human resistance to gradually weaken the vampire rule over time, and the second was to personally speedrun the overthrow of the vampire hierarchy if necessary. After getting together with Adele, she replaced the first plan but kept the second one in reserve.

Now the time had come—she needed to solo speedrun the entire operation.

Although Adele knew how strong Molly was, she couldn't help but worry. After all, her own father had hidden tricks she wasn't aware of, and who knew what the Elder Council had up their sleeves? But Molly wasn't too concerned; she trusted in her own strength.

To be precise, she trusted her "cheat."

Sometimes Molly wondered why she had such a powerful cheat, and just how strong it truly was. Maybe some omnipotent being in the multiverse had heard the prayers of humanity and placed her in this world with a cheat mode enabled.

Moreover, she was convinced that she was the strongest being here.

If not, what would be the point of her presence in this world?

Molly reassured Adele to trust her. Adele sighed, and Molly added, "I don't plan on dragging this out in a drawn-out fight against the vampires. I've been working for humanity for over a decade now—it's about time I retired. After this final mission and tying up any loose ends, we'll both retire together."

This line was as much of a classic flag as "I'll come back and then we'll get married," but Molly didn't care. She was strong enough that even if she planted a flag on her head, she'd break it with her own hands. Seeing Molly's extreme confidence, Adele couldn't bring herself to argue.

Instead, she smiled softly and said, "Alright, just remember to bring back plenty of magic stones."

Molly agreed.

She didn't head straight for the capital. Instead, she stayed on the estate, working with the researchers to fine-tune some firearms. Honestly, the latest weapons they had developed had a distinct steampunk vibe. The brownish metal barrels were adorned with gears and rose motifs, making them more cumbersome than modern firearms, resembling an old-fashioned musket more than anything else.

When Molly used them, they felt much smoother than before, and there were almost no instances of the barrel exploding. She decided to take two of the firearms and a box of bullets soaked in sunflower oil, ready to play the part of a dual-gun-wielding heroine.

Molly lingered in the estate, spending several days in Adele's company before sneaking out during the daytime when Adele was asleep. They had agreed to say their goodbyes at night, since the Elder Council operated deep underground, where day and night made no difference to them. But at night, Adele could properly see Molly off.

However, Molly didn't want to say goodbye. She was worried that doing so would truly set up some kind of flag for herself. As confident as she was, Molly couldn't help but feel a twinge of doubt in her heart. Was she really strong enough to single-handedly take on the entire Elder Council?

No—she had to be.
