Saved by a stranger

What? Boss, why did you ask me to stop the car? John asked surprisingly.

You know how much I hate to repeat myself. Ragnar yelled and John quickly pulled the car over.

Is she drunk or something? Why would she be lying beside the road?

John stepped down from the car and ran to the other side to open the car for his boss.

Ragnar stepped down majestically, he adjusted his suit and looked around to be sure no one was watching, he couldn't afford to be in the face of the media, not on the night of his engagement party.

Check if she is still breathing, he ordered.

John ran towards the figure and checked her pulse. She is alive, he announced.

Ragnar took out his phone and dialed a number. He kept staring at the red gown the lady was putting on, that was exactly what caught his attention.

Hello, I need you to bring an extra car to an address. I will be texting you. There's someone here. I need you to take her to the safe house, take care of her. He ordered and hung up.

He sent the address and in ten minutes, the car arrived.

The lady was carried into the car that had just arrived.

"Her bag! Ragnar said, pointing to a black bag that was still on the ground.

Seeing that the lady had been rescued. Ragnar turned to John. Let's go.

He entered the car and John also sat behind the wheel, and they continued their journey.

John wasn't the type to let go of things easily. He thought about talking about what had just happened. Boss, you didn't have to rescue her, if anyone saw you this evening, it could cause a big problem for you.

The last thing Ragnar wanted was to be involved in chatty conversations with John. Ragnar was a reserved man, a man of few words.

Do you ever stop talking? John, please just keep quiet and keep driving. Ragnar snapped at John and the rest of the journey continued in silence.

Ragnar's car pulled in front of the beautiful and luxurious hotel where the engagement party was being held.

Greg ran out of the mansion, seeing that Ragnar had just arrived.

Have you gotten a perfect person? Ragnar asked immediately as he stepped down from the car.

Yes sir, she will be here very soon.

I hope she has signed the contract, and she knows exactly what she is entering into?

Greg was silent.

I am talking to you, cat cut your tongue? Regnar snapped.

Greg took a few steps backward before speaking. She hasn't signed the contract, but she promised to show up.

Regnar could not believe his ears, Greg, are you dumb or something, she promised to show up, and you couldn't get her to sign the contract.

I am sorry sir, she insisted on meeting you in person before signing the contract.

Ragnar chuckled. If she had a slight idea of who I am, she would have signed the contract. You know what? Forget it, I will get someone myself. Her service would no longer be needed. What rubbish!

Ragnar said angrily and walked away from Greg. Greg ran after his boss, Sir, it's already too late, you can't find anyone that would agree to your terms, not late this night, remember what is at stake.

I know exactly what is at stake Greg! Ragnar snapped and stopped walking. You think I am doing this because I enjoy it. I am about to lose a multi-million-dollar deal. I need this engagement to secure that deal.

Yes boss, this is why I said you should allow the lady I found to do this.

Ragnar knew Greg was right, but his ego wouldn't allow him. Greg, step aside, let me be.

Greg sighed as he stepped aside and watched his boss walk away.

He is too stubborn. Greg murmured to himself. He took out his phone.

Hey, your service is no longer needed, thank you. Greg hung up before the other party could respond. He sighed and murmured again, Let's see how you get yourself a bride.

The engagement party had begun, and the few important people around were eager to see the lucky person that would be engaged to Ragnar.

Ragnar remained composed in his private suite. He searched through his phone for numbers of his previous girlfriends. He hoped one of them would be willing to fit in for him.

After several rejections, there was a knock on the door.

Ragnar was frustrated. Who the hell is disturbing my peace?

Forgive me Mr Ragnar, the lady in red insisted on speaking with you.

Ragnar widened his eyes in shock. The lady in red? Who is the lady in red?

The lady you rescued a few moments ago.

Now realizing what Greg was talking about, Ragnar cleared his throat. Oh! OK, I will be out in a minute, make her stay where there is less noise.

Alright sir, Greg responded.

This is not the right time to show petty appreciation. Ragnar murmured to himself and paused" Maybe it's the right time! He exclaimed excitedly. It looks like I have finally found a bride.

Ragnar stepped out of his suite and walked to the reception.

He saw the lady, dressed in another beautiful red gown.

I guess your best color is red. Ragnar said as he sat directly opposite the lady.

I beg your pardon! The lady said, surprised at the compliment.

Greg quickly whispered to her ears, Be polite. He then said loudly," This is Mr Ragnar, the man who saved you a few moments ago.

"Oh! Thank you very much for…

Save it, Ragnar interrupted. Instead of an apology, you can in turn do me a favor. He added sharply.

The lady looked around, surprised at the rude man seated in front of her. She scoffed.

I am Ragnar Langston, may I know your name?

She rolled her eyes before speaking, I am Amy. Amy Blakes, so you were saying…

Ragnar signaled to Greg and Greg understood, he took out his phone and quickly ran some search for Amy Blakes. He also sent her name to someone who sent in everything they needed to know about Amy in less than twenty minutes.

Amy, I want you to be my bride.

Amy could not believe her ears, she laughed so hard.

Ragnar looked at Greg. Did I say anything funny?

Greg shook his head before Amy spoke again.

Of course, what you said is funny. You saved me a few moments ago. I came to appreciate you before I left and all of a sudden you are asking me to be your bride. How is that possible? You don't know me and I don't know you.

Ragnar signaled to Greg to move closer. He did and handed over the phone to Ragnar.

Ragnar glanced through Amy's information and smiled.
