"Let me help you get back?"
It was difficult for Yu Zhiwan to move around by herself due to her disability, and she often had to slowly feel her way back to her room. Liu Huanran's offer to help usually meant pushing her wheelchair, even though it was an electric one and didn't need pushing.
Before Yu Zhiwan could respond, Liu Huanran seemed to notice something unusual about her. Omegas often show signs before their heat, and Yu Zhiwan's pale skin made the flush on her neck and face quite evident. Even now, the blush hadn't completely faded, making her look even more delicate.
When Liu Huanran grabbed the wheelchair, Yu Zhiwan's slender brows furrowed slightly under her bangs, and a muffled groan escaped her throat. Liu Huanran took her silence as consent and began to push the wheelchair forward.
"No need…"
As the wheelchair started to move, Yu Zhiwan suppressed a cough and pressed the pause button on the sides of the chair. Her voice was soft and breathy, her hair damp with sweat clinging to her temples. The slightly drooping lashes cast a shadow under her eyes, making her look particularly fragile in the Alpha's grasp.
Liu Huanran acted as if she didn't hear, speeding up her steps. Yu Zhiwan pressed the pause button with such force that her knuckles turned white, barely managing to halt the movement.
With a slightly pale expression, Yu Zhiwan lifted her head and, in a firmer voice, said each word clearly:
"Liu Huanran, let me go."
Yu Zhiwan's voice was crisp, not loud, but clear enough for Liu Huanran to hear. There was no way she could pretend to be deaf and avoid the answer she didn't want to hear.
Reluctantly, Liu Huanran stopped but still held tightly onto the handles of the wheelchair, maintaining control. She used one hand to brush aside the hair covering her face and rubbed her eyes, then sighed:
"I've already changed for you, Wanwan. I've deleted all their contacts and won't hang out with those people anymore. I was wrong before, but from now on, I just want to live a peaceful life with you. Please, don't be mad at me anymore, okay?"
It was the weekend, and after going out in the morning to see some friends, Liu Huanran had come home in the afternoon to find that Yu Zhiwan wasn't there. When her messages went unanswered, she had cleaned the entire house instead.
Liu Huanran had even cooked and asked if Yu Zhiwan wanted to come back for dinner. The call was cut off after a few seconds, with Yu Zhiwan coldly replying, "No."
But none of that discouraged her. Liu Huanran figured that over time, Yu Zhiwan would surely be won over by her efforts.
Liu Huanran wore a strong perfume, not realizing how close she was standing, making the Omega's sensitive nose uncomfortable.
Just as she was about to bend down to continue talking to Yu Zhiwan, a sharp, clear scent of plain water suddenly filled the air.
A misty spray obscured Liu Huanran's vision, forcing her to squint and step back. She could barely see through the haze and looked up to find Yu Zhiwan "gazing" blankly ahead.
In her hand was a spray bottle of air freshener, dispelling the overpowering scent of perfume. Liu Huanran couldn't dodge, so she squinted through the spray, coughing as the mist tickled her nose, forcing her to release her grip on Yu Zhiwan.
Taking advantage of the moment, Yu Zhiwan moved her wheelchair away from Liu Huanran's reach.
Liu Huanran, still coughing and tearing up from the spray, couldn't help but feel a twinge of resentment toward Yu Zhiwan.
Liu Huanran had arrived in this world just a few days ago.
Upon realizing that this world was divided into three genders, with male and female being secondary, she had discovered that she was now an Alpha. Not only that, but she also lived with a sweet, gentle, and fragile Omega.
Though she shared a home with Yu Zhiwan, their relationship was more like that of roommates than lovers. They had signed a contract agreeing to pretend to be a couple in public, but privately, they lived separate lives. Yu Zhiwan had even given her a sum of money, covering rent and utilities, which the financially struggling original Liu Huanran had eagerly accepted.
Initially, this arrangement worked fine. However, the original Liu Huanran, frustrated by her inability to act on her attraction to Yu Zhiwan, had become increasingly aggressive, even resorting to violence at times.
Knowing the plot, Liu Huanran understood that she was supposed to pursue Yu Zhiwan as the original character had intended, but she planned to do so gradually, with a softer approach.
When she first arrived, she learned that the original Liu Huanran had kidnapped Yu Zhiwan and taken her to an abandoned factory, planning to scare her and then swoop in as the hero. But by the time she rushed to the scene, both Yu Zhiwan and the person involved were gone, leaving her to find Yu Zhiwan's cold demeanor when she finally reached the hospital.
They lived in a mid-range neighborhood, but the decor was quite nice. Yicheng was a top-tier second-tier city, with high housing prices and moderate salaries. Liu Huanran figured that Yu Zhiwan's salary couldn't cover such a house and car, yet she had never heard her mention her parents.
Initially, she thought Yu Zhiwan was an heiress escaping an arranged marriage, given how disheveled she had been when the original character first encountered her.
Later, the original character had noticed someone tailing Yu Zhiwan.
But Liu Huanran still had no idea who Yu Zhiwan really was.
In her previous life, Liu Huanran had been an ordinary office worker, earning a modest salary at a regular job. In this world, aside from a beautiful new body and an attractive roommate, not much had changed.
The original Liu Huanran had worked at Yue Rong Cosmetics, a company that wasn't particularly demanding but offered decent pay and benefits. But even with her job, she could barely afford any luxuries.
While other transmigrators seemed to gain plot armor and cheat abilities, Liu Huanran felt that her only "golden finger" was Yu Zhiwan.
In her mind, Yu Zhiwan was her chance at romance. Beautiful, with a bit of a temper and a mysterious aura, Yu Zhiwan surely had some hidden background.
If she could just win Yu Zhiwan over by being humble and patient, eventually, Yu Zhiwan would notice her change. After a period of playing hard-to-get, the Omega would finally fall into her arms, and they could have a child together. Everything would be perfect.
After all, with someone as beautiful as Yu Zhiwan, it would be worth it, even if she was disabled.
Liu Huanran, excited by her bright future, ignored any previous grievances and called out:
"Should I get you some water, Wanwan?"
"Come on, talk to me, Wanwan—Yu Zhiwan—darling?"

Pei Yujang sat on the soft leather seat of the car, feeling bored as she waited at a red light. The Bluetooth speaker played soothing violin music, a welcome change from the usual noisy car radios, helping her relax.
Driving Yu Zhiwan's car, Pei Yujang couldn't shake a nagging feeling of unease, though she couldn't pinpoint its source. It wasn't until a black Maybach passed by that it finally clicked.
Yu Zhiwan worked as a trial makeup model at Yue Rong, earning less than 10,000 yuan a month after taxes. She had only been at the job for a year, and as a blind person, it would have been difficult for her to find a high-paying job before that. So how did she afford a car and possibly even a house?
Pei Yujang wasn't sure if Yu Zhiwan rented or owned her home, but the car was definitely hers, and it wasn't cheap, especially with its advanced autonomous driving capabilities. It didn't seem like something an average young worker could easily afford.
Also, was Yu Zhiwan born disabled, or was it a result of an accident? Her eyes were strikingly beautiful, with no visible damage, so it likely wasn't from an injury or car crash.
But then, what was the cause?
The more Pei Yujang learned about Yu Zhiwan, the more mysteries emerged. She knew so little about her, and what troubled her most was how this gentle, soft-spoken Omega could eventually "destroy the world" after her supposed blackening.
Was this "destruction" just an exaggerated metaphor, or would the world truly collapse if the plot couldn't proceed? Or was it literal, with the world facing actual destruction?
She didn't understand.

Three days later, after receiving her health report, Pei Yujang went to Yue Rong to start her job.
The original Pei Yujang had held a nominal management position at the company, doing little actual work. Pei Yujang decided to resign from that position and rejoin the company formally, starting from the planning department.
Her mother, Pei Jinhui, had chosen the planning department for her, where she would serve as the deputy director. The workload wasn't too heavy, but not too light either, and she could choose to delegate tasks to the director if she wanted.
Product development and sales weren't areas Pei Yujang was familiar with. The original character had some training in those areas, and after absorbing the original's memories, Pei Yujang had a basic understanding.
It was Pei Yujang's first time in such a role, and despite being in an unfamiliar field, she was eager to prove herself. The next day, she got up early, went for a run, and arrived at the office ahead of time.
She arrived just after the security guards, with twenty minutes to spare before work started. The building was mostly empty, with only a few employees here and there, some of whom were already at their desks, hastily eating breakfast.
Yue Rong had its own office building, cafeteria, and dormitories. The decor was minimalist with a Scandinavian feel, clean and bright, creating a comfortable working environment.
Pei Yujang was in a good mood and decided to take the stairs instead of the elevator. As she approached the planning department, she saw a woman rushing out of the elevator, and she recognized her immediately—Zhao Manlin, the department head.
Zhao Manlin was a young Beta in her twenties, known for her efficiency and skill in navigating the workplace. It was no wonder she had risen to the position of department head at such a young age.
This woman was also the one who had recommended Yu Zhiwan to the company and had always looked out for the young women in her department.
Naturally, Pei Yujang felt a good deal of respect for Zhao Manlin. She straightened her clothes and prepared to greet her when she saw Zhao Manlin rush into the office, startling the few employees who were eating breakfast.
"Are there any pretty Omegas in our department? Have them lay low for the next few days and try not to come by my office. That troublemaker is coming to work here, and I think she's got her eye on someone!"
