Chapter 41-don't resist me

Capone sat on the edge of the bed, smoking. When he was agitated, he smoked almost without restraint, and soon the ashtray was filled with cigarette butts.

In quiet moments, he often recalled Penny's words—that he was the one who had set the chain of events in motion leading to Sophia's predicament. Regret didn't change the facts, no matter how much he felt it.

Regret? He had rarely experienced it throughout his life, but this time he couldn't quite put his feelings into words.

Sophia was taking a long time in the bathroom. Capone extinguished his cigarette and walked to the bathroom. He didn't knock; when he turned the handle, he found the door unlocked, and there she was, sleeping with her head resting on the edge of the bathtub.

She had been avoiding him as much as possible these past few days. During the day, he let it slide, but at night, he would pull her to his bed, and she was always reluctant, spending long hours in the bathroom.
