Testing the softness of the bed

Three days prior, Elian had made the decision to relinquish his claim as heir, choosing to pass it to Orion. In his heart, he believed his brother deserved it more, Orion had supported him unconditionally, proving himself time and again. Besides, with Elian's upcoming marriage to Izan, the Montclair name would no longer define his place in the world.

The crowd's cheers grew even louder. Niko whooped loudly, prompting Aria to roll her eyes and shake her head in mock exasperation. Lord Marius stood tall, his proud smile directed squarely at his grandson.

Orion's throat tightened with emotion. He stepped forward alongside Elian, and together, they bowed deeply to the crowd.

When Orion spoke, his voice was clear and steady, carrying across the courtyard. "Thank you," he began. "Thank you for welcoming me into your hearts and your empire. I promise to honor the Montclair name and to serve Arcanoria with everything I have."
