They're Perfect

Aria was rushing through the palace halls, balancing a tray of herbal tea and a warm cloth for Emperor Izan, who had refused to leave his consort's side since the twins were born. As she rounded a corner, she nearly collided with Martin, who was grinning from ear to ear like a mischievous child.

"Martin!" Aria groaned, glaring at him. "Where on earth have you been? You weren't even around while His Majesty was in labor!"

Martin's grin turned sheepish as he scratched the back of his head. "I had orders from the Emperor, you know. Went to fetch something important for him. Emperor's orders," he said with a wink, as though that excused his absence.

Aria sighed, shaking her head in exasperation. "Unbelievable. Well, guess what?"

"What?" Martin asked, his grin widening as though he already knew it was good news.

"His Majesty had twins," Aria said, her tone softening despite herself. "A boy and a girl."
