Argos

Unite or take over the world. This had to be the craziest sentence he had ever heard that not even the lunatics that drink madness for breakfast would dare utter.

Rubbing his forehead, he tried his best to remember if he had heard wrong but even with his best efforts, he still could remember those words she had just uttered. Looking at her smiling and giggling as though she didn't just say something insane was creepy to him.

"You want me to take over the world are you insane."

To Amir, she was no longer a beautiful savior, but a lunatic.

Looking at him she sighed.

"What I'm saying may sound crazy but It's necessary if we're going to survive. Listen carefully. This world is in danger of dying soon and if the world isn't a united front by that time, we will all die."

He started to feel as though she was being serious but it was just too crazy to him.

The world ending wasn't something he could quite fathom as it was just so vast with so many strong people that everyone dying wasn't believable. Though even if the world did end, why should he care?

"A threat that could end the world sounds crazy but even if that was true how do you possibly expect me to unite the world that's impossible."

Sighing Amir really couldn't see anyway something like that would even be possible. The 5 races could never get along. There just was no way you could get all of them to unite.

'Everyone is so divided that uniting the world even through force couldn't be done. Some would sooner die than do such a thing.' He thought

"Is this the only thing that can be done or why not just take over the world yourself?"

Her smile faded and was replaced with a dejected frown.

"I've tried many things to have the world unite on my own, but it only made the situation in the world get worse and I can't do anything myself as I'm not in a position to take such actions anymore."

Amir listened carefully as he wanted to figure out how someone who claimed to be a god could look so defeated.

"I knew that brief sense of peace that I had would end soon but I remained willfully ignorant hoping that they would never find me, but it was all wishful thinking." She said

"When they find me nothing but death and destruction will follow for every living thing in this world."

she frowned even deeper as she seemed to start droning on about the world coming to an end. Amir felt that everything she said had a deep lasting impression on him as though her words began to make him feel a tinge of pain at the thought of everything in the world dying.

'Why am I feeling like this? What does it matter if the world burns or not? No one gave a damn about me after all of these years. So why would I ever try to help save a piece of shit world like this."

"I know everything that you've suffered until now and everyone that's hurt you up to this point but what about your dream? Do you no longer want to see it through?"

Amir had an annoyed look as he wondered how she could ever know what he struggled with but just chalked it up to the activities of a former god. He didn't know how to feel as he didn't care about saving the world but wanted power to achieve his dream.

"If you can truly give me power, I don't care about what I need to do to get it as long as I can have the power to rise above everyone else."

Amir felt resolute on this decision as he didn't care about the lengths, he would have to go to get it because he could no longer stand being trampled on.

"So, if you need me to be a martyr for some foolish hope of uniting a broken world or crush everything under my foot to get to the goal I don't care as long as you give me true power!"

God, demon, or saint he didn't care as long as he could live his life without ever having to experience being treated lower than dirt.

Seeing the fiery gaze, he was giving her she felt as though he wouldn't be such a bad pick compared to the ones who came before him.

"Well become my chosen and the person that will unite this world."

He felt a pound in his chest as his adrenaline shot through the roof. She floated closer to him as she put her hand on his cheek, and he suddenly felt a tingling sensation in his body.

His dark black hair and black eyes started to glow a low shade of blue and his heart beat faster.

"From this day forward I deem you my chosen. The sky may fall or the world may burn but everything you know to be your reality will forever change."

Her beautiful long blue hair flowed as it floated in the white void and her soft voice rang throughout its expanse.

"You shall never be forsaken by this world child of Argos, whether you choose the path of a demon or saint the power of the world shall be yours."

As she spoke Amir started to become sleepy and was no longer able to completely focus. Soon completely fell asleep as everything became dark once more.

In an open field with the breeze blowing across a meadow of yellow flowers, its sight was beautiful the color turned blue as the wind blew making a beautiful scenery.

Amir who was peacefully sleeping among the flowers started to wake up and looked at his surroundings. He found himself in the fields outside the village.

"So, it wasn't a dream after all, since I woke up here."

Knowing that he still had limbs intact and was outside of the forest he could only accept that everything he had just experienced was real. Not knowing who the person or better word entity was but knew that it was no regular encounter.

Thinking back on everything he thought about the lady he met and how beautiful she was. He shook his head to try not to blush and push the thought away.

 "Should I head back?"

Looking in the direction that led to the road back to the village he didn't want to return to that place. Amir frowned knowing that he would be walking back into that place only to go back to the same life as before. He wanted to run away and never look back.

The only way out of the village was to use the safe road made by the hunters or go through the forest and fight off the magic beast and from prior experiences he didn't want to try back that option.

Things were supposed to be different now though. The power of the world should be his said. Well, he thinks that's what she said. He started zoning out at the end.

Trying to feel if anything was different, he tried jumping, meditating, and even a few random shoutings of Fireball!

Nothing felt different. Everything remained the same he felt no stronger than when he tried to escape this damn village. He felt frustrated that after all that talk about power and saving the world, he came back the same cripple that she said would no longer be.

"How the hell do you expect me to unite a world as a damn cripple!"

After a few more kindly phrased insults he noticed a slight glow on the flower different from the moonlight every time he moved it with him. Soon noticing a slight glow emitting from his frail chest.

Removing his tattered shirt that was so dirty you couldn't easily distinguish its color he saw a symbol on his chest with a slight blue glow. A star with what looked like a vine intertwining it.

'What is this?'

Amir felt a weird sensation while touching but it was weirdly comforting which was quite odd to him.

'You gave me a weird symbol, but I still can't use mana what am I even supposed to do with this."

Sighing Amir relented and gave up on his frustration. Nothing he did now was going to change anything. Looking back again in the direction of the village his face contorted as he knew had to go back.

Picking up his shirt he started walking towards the direction of the village. After a short while, a village with a rough appearance came into view; it was Amir's hometown, complete with guards and watchmen who patrolled the streets.

The village of Luton was a large village of about a thousand people and was under the jurisdiction of Baron Wayner. Growing up here was nice for Amir until the day everything changed, and his life became hell.

Approaching the entrance to the village a voice shouted out

"STOP! I need to know your name and business in this town, If you don't answer my questions, you'll be attacked right away."

A tall Caucasian man came into view. He was about 6 feet tall with dark brown hair and brown eyes.

"Mr. Michael, please hold on, it's me, Amir."

Looking closer the guard shocked.

"Huh, Amir?"

"Is that you? I didn't recognize you. What are you doing outside the village?"

Seeing the confused look on the guard's face, Amir became nervous as children weren't allowed outside the village at night because of the danger of magic beasts attacking.

"You know, sir, I was out there trying to find some dinner, but I got scared and decided to turn back."

Amir rubbed the back of his head nervously hoping that the guard would take his story. Not out of fear that he would do something to him but to try and keep the information that he tried to leave the village a secret for that 2 faced bastard.

"Food? When he heard what the young boy had to say, his expression changed, and he gave him a pitying glance."

"Being an orphan is tough, but that doesn't make it ok to put your life in danger what if you were to be attacked, a person who can't use mana would just die a pitiful death."

"I know it, sir, and that's why I ran away from the forest as soon as I got close to it," he said with a sad expression on his face.

Micheal felt that the boy's situation was quite unfortunate, to be born in a world with no magic is something truly tragic. Thinking of how terrified he must have been before giving up hope and coming back made him pity the boy even more.

"I'll let you back in as long as you promise to never do that again."

Amir gave a scared look to the guard.

"There is no way that I will ever return to those terrifying woods, and I promise you that, sir."

Feeling satisfied with Amir's performance he let him in.

Thanking the guard Amir walked back into the village. He headed straight through without looking at anyone or anything and kept his head down.

People in the town looked at him with disgust as he walked by, and then they scattered to avoid him. Amir was used to their palpable looks of disgust and continued about his business.

He walked silently through the village, with his head bowed.

Not long after, he entered an alleyway between two buildings and eventually came across a makeshift tent constructed of flimsy wood and a long, filthy cloth.

He lowered himself into the tent with a crooked grin on his face.

"Nothing ever changes no matter how much they see me."

He usually could tune out the stares but tonight he noticed them more than ever. Laying down in his scrappy tent he felt utterly exhausted. Drifting off, the star on his chest flickered lightly as he fell into a deep sleep.
