Overthinking.

*********Annabeth******

His Secretary?? How?... I mean this is a good thing okay, an opportunity even. But it didn't feel right. Something was off.

"How's that possible?" I asked him looking directly at him now with all thoughts about my pussy forgotten.

"How do you mean?" He asked scrunching his forehead in confusion

"Look, I don't mean this in a wrong way. Infact I'm glad you still find me worthy but really?? You do not know me, how can you possibly trust me with such a task. You don't know if I'm clutz or.."

" Or what, Anna?" He asked me looking at me with his eyes completely grey. "When employing people, you expect the best and more from them regardless of whether an interview took place or not, And that... is what is happening here, Miss Smith. With that being said, I believe we could return to our to our main topic without having you overthinking. Can we do that, Miss Anna?"

"Yes....I believe we can." I said slouching even further in my seat. There I go again, overthinking and embarrassing myself.

The rest of our discussion was pretty platonic. He informed me of my duties, how to dress, his most often visitors, all the secretary shit. I just kept nodding my head and asking questions about the points I didn't understand. I was to follow him to most of his meetings taking notes and ensuring all the appointments in his schedule were handled.

"So due to the accident, you can start working from next week. I already have a temporary assistant. Your office is behind the door facing mine. Welcome to the Brooks, Miss Smith. I'm looking forward to working with you"

With that we shook hands, shared a small smile and I stood up to leave.

"And Miss Annabeth? I have more than enough information on you to let you be my secretary, don't be frightened, you can leave." I was speechless. Why does he always make me speechless? This is frustrating. Well, he is Raymond Brooks...that's what rich people do I guess.

I just walked away. I should get some sleep.. since today turned out good.

I was out of the building already. I hailed a taxi and got into it after giving him my address.

I thought back to how mum sounded when I told her about the accident. She wasn't happy but tried to be strong. She tried to not say anything negative but I could hear the doubt in her voice. I assured her that I was going to be okay, I had to grow tougher skin that's all. Even though I have to convince myself of that first.

It can't be that hard, I mean Paige lives here. I just have to open up and accept it all in. I can do this.

When we got to my apartment. I paid the driver and walked up the stairs into the reception. I felt eyes on me....I turned to see who it was but I saw no one.. I looked around but I didn't see anyone. Strange. I ignored the feeling and continued to the building.

*****Raymond*****

I could bet my both kidneys that I scared the shit out of her. I didn't mean to but I currently do not need her overthinking anything.

I don't need her knowing too much or piecing things together or calculating.

She shouldn't be thinking , she should be living.... I'd make sure she does just that. For her sake and mine.

I told her to resume on Monday. That should be just enough time for her to get her things and mind together. I told Jason to come in and see her, maybe show her around. It would be better if she gets acquainted with New York with a familiar face. It should be easier.

And safer. The tigers shouldn't even know I've found her.

I dialed Darius's number -my beta- , we need to meet up with all the Alphas in America to decide our next course of actions in dealing with the rogue king. He has proven to me a massive nuisance to our race. I think it's high time we snuff him, his family and his followers out. It's best that way.

I can't have him close to anyone I love and care about, especially Anna and Rosie.

Annabeth. She's petite and striking. Fierce and assertive and she's caring too. But she overthinks and I don't like it at all. She thinks she's clutz which is crazy because she's the most sensitive person I've ever seen. She can't control anything that happens but knowing Annabeth she would never agree to that.

I just want her on my bed sleeping next me, holding unto me like her source of oxygen.

Because she's mine.

"What's up, Ray?" Darius croaked

"What's up with you? Why do you sound like that?"

"I really don't know, I think I was poisoned. I'm with Steele now. They are running a test. I'd know what's up when his done."

"Hmm okay. Let me know what the result is when your done."

"Alright. You called what's the matter? She didn't come?"

"Oh no, she did. I scared her off though." I said sighing.

"Raymond, why would you do that? "

" She was overthinking, Dar. I don't want her thinking. The farther she is from all of our race the better for her and me. She doesn't know who she is to me and all of us, she doesn't even have the slightest idea. I really want to keep it that way" My head was on my desk and my shoulders slouching. This topic was exhausting. I've spent years thinking about it.

"But you know, Ray. One day she'd know. What matters now is not her knowing but who tells her and how she finds out. If Lucas or his witch, Rebecca get even an inch close to her you know how bad this can turn out. We have to act fast, Raymond."

"Ughhh.. I know, Darius. Have you heard from Fernando? I heard he had a hit to do but I haven't heard from him since then." I said trying to change the topic. It was still to early to think at the moment.

One of my warehouses was cleared yesterday night without a trace and it's driving me crazy. I tried sniffing to see if I could get even one scent but nothing and now Darius is poisoned...

"I haven't heard from him yet, but you know how he is. His probably wounded or found something intriguing enough to catch his attention. He'd be back before you know it."

"Alright then..I hope he stays safe, I I'mwanted to tell you to set up a meeting with all the Alphas at the Palace to discuss our next course of action concerning the rouge king but no worries, I'd call Kelvin to take care of that."

"Alright that would be good. Take care then. I'd reach you when the results are out."

" No problem. Later."

I hung up and leaned back into my seat.

I had to take care of this one at a time. I really can't wait to find peace.
