Chapter 307: The Depression I Need

A Jaguar with a very aristocratic and classic atmosphere pulled up to the parking lot of the golf course in the western suburbs of Brighton, where Hoover, the head of the Brighton branch of the Tang Dynasty Bank, was meeting with his friends.

The car door opened and a slender, long-legged beauty stepped out, followed by a young girl in an evening dress. As the girl got out of the car, Hoover and his friends involuntarily gasped, because the girl was very beautiful. Her facial features were exquisite, her figure was well-proportioned under the evening dress, and her blonde hair was wavy and curly. The whole person was like something created by the perfect proportions of the creator, so unbelievable that it was hard to believe.

However, Hoover and the others were all sophisticated businessmen, so naturally they did not make any inappropriate moves. And they had not seen this girl for the first time, so within a few breaths, they had returned to normal.

The girl got out of the car, and Hoover walked up to her and patted his chest with his right hand to greet her: 'It is a great honour to have Miss Caitlin here. Miss Caitlin is still as charming and attractive as ever. I believe whoever marries you in the future will be a very lucky person.'

The girl whispered a thank you, then looked around and asked, 'Why are you the only one here? Didn't you say there was a very capable young Chinese man you wanted to introduce me to? Or did you mean it was you?'

Hoover smiled sheepishly and said, "Of course not, I'm not that shameless. I did have a very capable young friend I wanted to introduce you to, someone Mr. Tiger also highly valued.'

'So where is he now?" the girl asked.

'I'm sorry, due to last-minute scheduling issues, he had something come up today and didn't make it, and after some time, I've discovered that his abilities may not be as good as Mr. Tiger thought, and of course, he may not be worth meeting,' Hoover replied.

'Mr. Hoover, missing an appointment is not the behaviour of a well-educated gentleman.'

The girl's azure eyes stared at Hoover as she spoke, and although she was only asking him softly, without any sense of accusation, Hoover felt a great deal of pressure.

Hoover subconsciously took a step back. He hurriedly explained to the girl, 'I'm sorry, but this was just an accident. But if you like, I can accompany you to play golf or whatever you'd like.'

'That's not necessary. I don't think I need another servant.'

The girl's words were light, but they made Hoover feel like vomiting blood. After all, he was the branch manager of a bank, so how could he become a servant in her eyes? What made her feel even more embarrassed was that she didn't want it anymore.

'I still have to go to a ball, and I don't have a lot of time here, so if Mr Hoover doesn't have anything else to do, then I'll take my leave. Please give Mr Tiger my regards, but he'll have to apologize to me for this. Of course, if Mr Hoover is not convenient, I don't mind going to Lexington myself.'

After the girl finished speaking, she turned around and went back to the car, while Hoover came to the car at a slow pace, obviously the girl had put a lot of pressure on him.

'Miss Caitlin, I'm very sorry, but this has nothing to do with Mr Tiger. It's really that Zhou Ming is so disappointing!' Hoover hurriedly explained.

However, as soon as Hoover finished speaking, the window that the girl had originally intended to roll up stopped immediately. She turned her head and asked Hoover, "You said that the person Mr Tiger was going to introduce me to today was named Zhou Ming, right?'

Hoover was stunned for a moment, and then immediately nodded and said, "Yes.' He then asked, 'Do you know him, Miss Caitlin?'

Caitlin's blue eyes, as clear as the lake water, suddenly wandered for a moment before she said, 'Yes, I heard about him from Mr Nordleman, but it's a pity that I didn't get to meet him this time. I hope I will have the opportunity to meet him next time. Goodbye, Mr Hoover.'

After saying goodbye, the girl finally rolled up the window, and the car started up. Hoover got up, and a friend behind him came up to him and asked, 'Who is this girl? We came to pick her up, and she just left like that, without saying goodbye? And she even asked Mr Tiger to apologise to her. She really takes herself too seriously.'

Hoover shook his head and said, 'You don't know her, that's why you say that. She's no ordinary person. Not only Mr Tiger, but also many other bigwigs you're afraid of, have to give her some respect. Mr Tiger also went to a lot of trouble to get her this time.'

'But unfortunately, the person you mentioned, Zhou Ming, is not here,' someone said.

Hoover looked at the shadow of Caitlin's departing car and muttered, 'Maybe I was too hasty to let that Zhou Ming leave. I didn't expect her to actually know Zhou Ming. Could it be that they are connected in some way? Or is their relationship not as simple as she said?'

Hoover couldn't think of an answer, and he really wanted to ask Ming about it. However, Ming had already gone quite a distance by this time. Instead of going back to Harvard right away, Ming went to the city centre of Brighton and entered a teahouse outside the Chinatown.

Following the waiter's guidance, Ming went to a private room in the back. Just like at the golf course before, there was also a Chinese person waiting for Ming here. This person was Cheng Jun, the Consul General in New York.

Cheng Jun asked Zhou Ming to sit down, and Zhou Ming, with no sense of propriety, sat down in front of him and asked him, 'Consul Cheng, you didn't ask to see me just to criticise me about the project for the convenience store in my dormitory, did you?'

Cheng Jun was momentarily taken aback and laughed, saying, 'It seems that someone has already spoken to you before me.'

Zhou Ming did not deny this: 'Yes, I just came from the golf course in the western suburbs. Mr Hoover told me that Mr Tiger is very disappointed with me.'

'I see,' Cheng Jun said, 'I did ask for you because of the news about the convenience store in the dormitory, but I can't say I'm disappointed or expect anything. It's just that the finance class is something the country attaches great importance to. Now that you have come up with this project and got the whole finance class involved, as your Consul General, I have to know what exactly you plan to do.'

Zhou Ming thought for a moment and replied, 'Consul Cheng, I think that since I am the class teacher of the finance class, I also want to bring all the students in the class along. The project of the dormitory convenience store is a very good one. Don't look at it as if it is insignificant, but in fact it contains the entirety of a normal business activity, and it is very useful for developing the business acumen of the students.'

'Is that really the case?' Cheng Jun asked in surprise.

'Of course this is only part of it,' Zhou Ming said. 'Of course, if I could, I wouldn't want to do this.'

'Is it because of Mr. Tiger? Because he approached you, he suddenly put you in the limelight, and many people are watching you, so you need to do something disappointing, is that right?' Cheng Jun asked again.

Cheng Jun's words could not help but make Zhou Ming praise him a little. You have to know that I only said a part of it without any pain or discomfort, and Cheng Jun was able to analyze the rest of it from this sentence. It can be seen that the Consul General of New York is not a simple person either.

For this reason, Zhou Ming thought for a while before answering, 'Yes and no. After all, the finance class itself is a very big target. Consul Cheng, I think you also know that when I first arrived in Brighton with the finance class, so many organisations sent people to pick me up at the airport, but I didn't go. There were also so many invitations from clubs on the Harvard campus. These can definitely not be coincidences.'

Zhou Ming concluded, 'Therefore, I think what Mr Tiger is doing now is just making this target more conspicuous.'

'On behalf of the country, I apologize to you,' Cheng Jun said to Zhou Ming.

Zhou Ming shook his head and said, 'If I cared about this, I think I would have quit long ago. And even if I don't take the finance class, it's just me alone, and those organizations will find me sooner or later. Instead of figuring it out later when we meet again, I would rather them come knocking on my door in the first place.'

If someone else had said this, Cheng Jun would have spit in his face: he is the Consul General in New York, and he has seen all kinds of people in all kinds of situations.

But Cheng Jun is now facing Zhou Ming, and he believes that Zhou Ming has this ability.

Moreover, as the Consul General of New York, Cheng Jun has some news from the embassy, and Zhou Ming doesn't even know about it yet. Since Zhou Ming brought the finance class to Brighton, there have been more police in Brighton, and there are also many more different people from Harvard to downtown Brighton.

These people all very clearly illustrate the attitude of the United States towards Zhou Ming and the finance class. Although it is not certain what attitude the US government and those organisations have towards Zhou Ming, it is thought that they are doing such a thorough job that it is definitely not just a simple chat.

In addition, under so much surveillance, whenever Ming Zhou wanted to do anything, the U.S. government and others would report Ming Zhou's situation to the country. Perhaps the U.S. government is still very accommodating now, but it is hard to say how it will be in the future. So, instead of discussing it later, it is better to admit defeat to those organisations and the U.S. government first. This is the most effective method.

Now that Zhou Ming has done a dormitory convenience store project, even Mr. Tiger is very disappointed, not to mention anyone else. By doing so, Zhou Ming can calm down the surveillance of these groups or people on him. As long as he gets rid of the shackles, Zhou Ming believes that everything can be done again from scratch.

'So what are you going to do now, Zhou Ming? Are you going to go quiet for a while so that everyone will forget about you?' Cheng Jun asked.

Zhou Ming shook his head and said, 'That was my original plan, but now I don't want to do that. I plan to start my real work right away, and that will require your help, Consul Cheng.'

'Help me?' Cheng Jun looked a little surprised. 'If it's not something illegal, I think I can manage.'

Zhou Ming laughed, 'But the thing is, Consul Cheng, it might be illegal, because I need you to help me transfer some money to the United States.'
