Chapter 14: Is the FBI a pig?

'Mr. Brook, I don't think I'm surprised by this, because you are like a toad, spreading misfortune wherever you go.'

Zhou Ming said to Old Brook, but although Zhou Ming spoke lightly, in reality he frowned secretly. Not only Zhou Ming, but also the other students in the finance class glared at Old Brook angrily.

After all, as Zhou Ming had just said, Brook was a persistent presence, and although he had not caused Zhou Ming any substantial losses so far, his behaviour of popping up every time Zhou Ming wanted to do something was indeed like a toad that bit but didn't kill, but could make people sick to death.

Brook looked at Zhou Ming and the others and was very happy: 'A toad? Thank you very much, I think I like this nickname very much.'

'Really? If you, Congressman Brook, have just come here to show off your bottom line, I don't think I have time to mess around with you. I have things to do, so excuse me.'

Zhou Ming finished speaking and wanted to take the students from the finance class and leave, but Lao Brook was still blocking Zhou Ming's way. Zhou Ming looked up at him, and Lao Brook still had his sinister smile on his face as he said, 'I'm sorry, Mr. Zhou Ming, but I don't think you can leave, because you are involved in an election case, and you must come back to the Election Commission with me for an investigation.'

Zhou Ming immediately frowned, 'What election case?'

As Zhou Ming said this, the students from the finance class behind him and Huang Yi also yelled, 'That's right! What are you damned guy trying to slander us for again? We haven't broken any laws, and we won't let you take Mr. Zhou Ming away! We don't recognise any senator!'

The students from the finance class spontaneously stepped in front of Zhou Ming. Seeing this, Lao Brook happily clapped his hands: 'What are you doing? Are you preparing to resist the law violently? That's great! Of course, I can let the lovely Mr. Zhou Ming go if you do this. But next time, I can't guarantee whether the police or the FBI will come, what means they will use to arrest people, or whether they will add any charges!'

At this time, I heard Zhou Ming shout, 'Financial class students, please move aside!'

Everyone still unconditionally obeyed Zhou Ming's orders, so no matter how unhappy they were, they still made way for Zhou Ming.

Zhou Ming walked out of the crowd and turned back, saying, 'Classmates, this is not the first time this has happened. We may not believe in American law, but we must at least believe that there is justice in the world. Since the situation was so bad before, and our Congressman Brook even brought in the FBI, but still couldn't do anything about me, then this time, even if he brings in the FBI for no reason, he still won't be able to do anything about me. So everyone doesn't need to worry, I'll just be right back.'

After Zhou Ming finished speaking, he turned to face Congressman Brook. Congressman Brook smiled and said, 'It seems that Classmate Zhou Ming is quite confident. I just don't know if you'll still be confident when you get to the Election Committee.'

Zhou Ming remained unfazed: 'I can say the same thing back to you, Councillor Brook. I'm afraid it'll be you who won't be confident later.'

Old Brook's face suddenly turned hideous as he stared at Zhou Ming and said, 'You yellow-skinned scum, do you know what? The way you look now is really disgusting, I really want to smash your face!'

Zhou Ming smiled meaninglessly, 'Same to you. In fact, I've always wanted to ask you a question. When will a cheap old bastard like you die?'

Old Brooker screamed in a frenzy, but soon returned to calm. He looked at Zhou Ming with gritted teeth and said in a tone that seemed to want to devour Zhou Ming alive, 'You yellow-skinned bastard, you're really good. I will one day break every bone in your body and take it away!'

The last sentence, Old Brook, was shouted at the people he brought with him. Just as the people from the council came over to take Zhou Ming away, Allen calmly stepped forward and said, 'As Zhou Ming's lawyer, I think I am obliged to accompany my client, no matter what the circumstances.'

Old Brook turned back and glared at Allen, but before he could say anything, Huang Yi, who was standing next to him, also stepped forward. Compared to Allen, he was a little less confident, but he still tried his best to straighten his back: 'Congressman Brook, I am the elector in this election. Since you said that this is a case about the election, then I think I must also be involved, and I must go with you!'

Compared to Alan and Huang Yi's heroic words, **, as Zhou Ming's bodyguard, had long since silently stood behind Zhou Ming.

Zhou Ming felt very warm at heart for **, Alan and Huang Yi's unwavering loyalty. Although the final result still depended on himself, it was already very rare for them to make such a statement. At least they were incomparably stronger than those Chinese compatriots in the Vidda community. At least Zhou Ming could understand that they were not doing it for any kind of benefit, but were genuinely concerned about him.

Zhou Ming felt very warm inside, but Old Brooker was shaking with anger: 'Fine, you're all very united, so to hell with your unity, take it all with you!'

After Lao Brook finished speaking, he waved his hand, and the four of them were taken away in a car. A quarter of an hour later, they arrived at the State House in the Fenway district, and they were taken directly to the investigation office of the Election Commission. Of course, for the needs of the investigation, the place had now been made to look like an interrogation room. Lao Brook and Mueller, the deputy director of the Massachusetts branch of the FBI, were sitting across from each other.

Mueller's appearance took Ming quite by surprise: 'I thought I was here for the Election Commission? Why is the FBI in charge of this?'

Old Brook grinned and replied, 'You didn't think of that, did you? But this is just the beginning, there will be more things that you can't imagine!'

Compared to Old Brook's arrogance, Mueller might have been embarrassed by Zhou Ming before, so he answered cautiously, 'Our FBI's duty is to investigate all illegal acts in the country, including illegal acts in elections. However, in general, we do not directly intervene, and we will only intervene in the investigation when we are commissioned by the Election Commission.'

'I see,' Zhou Ming leaned back in his chair, "so what kind of investigation am I facing this time?'

'Mr. Zhou Ming, you are facing an investigation of eleven charges of improper electioneering, insulting character, and harming others," Muller replied as he looked through his documents. However, Muller always felt a bit strange when answering, because he always felt like he was answering the questions of his superiors, but he was clearly just interrogating the suspect himself, which made Muller feel a bit stifled.

Zhou Ming was amused: 'Investigation of eleven charges? Where did you fabricate so many trumped-up charges against me?'

Allen explained to Zhou Ming: "This is a common tactic used by the FBI. They will always infinitely amplify a matter and add all the charges related to it, so that they will have a big advantage when prosecuting, because with so many charges, there is always something the other party cannot refute.'

'This is called casting a wide net to catch fish. It seems that the FBI's tactics are not very good either!" Zhou Ming said teasingly.

Pop!

Old Brook slammed the table angrily and said, 'Zhou Ming, please be aware that this is the investigation office of the Election Committee, not your dormitory. I think you are still trying to add an accusation of contempt of the Election Committee and the FBI!'

'Congressman Brook, I would also like to remind you that my client is not at fault. Your current actions are deliberately framing my client, and my client has the right to defend himself!' As Zhou Ming's lawyer, Alan immediately retorted.

Zhou Ming waved his hands uselessly, 'If you want to accuse me, you can always find a reason. I'll just listen to your performance here. I just want to ask, what exactly am I being accused of?'

'This morning, Veita community elector Bert Boettcher was splashed with faeces in front of the parliament building. He reported to the election committee that you had maliciously retaliated against him because you had had a previous dispute. Here is the investigation file for the accusation. Please take a look.'

Mueller replied to Zhou Ming, and at the same time he took a document from his folder and placed it on the table in front of Zhou Ming. However, Zhou Ming waved his hand to indicate that he did not need it, and pushed it to his lawyer Alan, while saying, 'I don't want to read this thing, I only have one question for you.'

Mueller made a gesture of invitation, but Zhou Ming said, 'I said you have an Electoral Commission investigation office and an FBI. May I ask if you are all pigs?'

As Zhou Ming asked this question, the atmosphere in the room suddenly froze. Whether it was Alan Huang Yi or Brooke Mueller, they were all stunned. No one expected Zhou Ming to ask such a question.

Alan Huang Yi was shocked because in their minds, which suspect would be trembling in the face of an FBI investigation? Even if they weren't, they would at least be polite to the other party. Who would just blurt out a question like, 'Are you a pig?' to someone? That's just rude!

Old Brook and Mueller were incredible, especially Mueller. The hand gesture he used to invite Zhou Ming to ask a question was still in the air, and after Zhou Ming's question, he became extremely embarrassed.

'Zhou Ming, you guy actually dare to defy us like this, we won't let you go!' Old Brook roared at Zhou Ming.

Zhou Ming unnecessarily poked his ear, indicating that he did not care about the threat from Old Brook: 'Mr. Brook, I can understand that you are ignorant of the law, but you, Deputy Director Mueller, should not be. After all, you are the deputy director of the FBI. How can you not understand such basic steps as how to solve a case and find evidence?'

Evidence?

Mueller turned his head and looked at Old Brook with confusion. Old Brook was stunned and muttered, "Could it be that you didn't do that thing?'

Zhou Ming laughed, "What do you think?'

As if to prove their thoughts, as soon as Zhou Ming's words fell, the office door was immediately opened. Mueller's assistant quickly walked in and leaned over to whisper something in his ear. Mueller's face immediately changed. He first looked up and down at Zhou Ming in surprise a few times, before sighing and waving his hand at his assistant, indicating for him to go out first.

'Deputy Director Mueller, what's going on?' Old Brook asked him.

Müller did not answer, but gave an exasperated look at Bruck and then said to Zhou Ming, 'Mr. Zhou Ming, you can go.'

'What?' Bruck was so surprised that he stood up. He shouted at Müller, 'Deputy Director Müller, how can you do this? He is an important nuisance in this election fraud. You are derelict in your duties, and I will tell the parliament the truth!'

'I advise Councilor Bruck not to say anything, so as not to lose face,'

Zhou Ming said to the old Brook, his words made the old Brook mad, and then Zhou Ming also stood up and walked towards the door, but before leaving, he turned back and told Mueller, 'Deputy Director Mueller, I believe you are an excellent FBI investigator, but in the future, when handling cases, remember to use your head and don't believe everything those mindless people say. I hope that in the future, we don't have to meet in this way again. Goodbye.'
