Chapter 36: Election Results

Zhou Ming had heard the name Kane before, in fact, when Omar came back to find him, Zhou Ming had already heard about it. He looked up at Kane, a tall and handsome American. However, it was this guy with bushy eyebrows and big eyes who used his power to not only take away Omar's chance to become a judge, but even put a very humiliating green hat on him.

Kane did not come alone. He was accompanied by a very pretty white girl. From the way she looked down and did not dare to make eye contact with Omar, it was obvious that she was the Lucy who had cuckolded Omar.

'Kane, you hypocrite, why do you still have the face to appear in front of me? I hate to tear you apart!' Omar angrily said to Kane, even stood up from his chair, his fists clenched, as if he could not wait to eat the other person alive.

Kane was startled and subconsciously took a step back, but then he laughed: 'Omar, you're so angry, it's not like a Harvard-educated Juris Doctor, but more like a clown from the circus or a demon crawling out of the abyss of hell. Especially that hideous expression of yours is just lifelike.'

Omar was about to strike, but was stopped by Zhou Ming, who asked him, 'Mr. Kane, is it? Can I help you?'

'Chinese?' Kane turned his head to look at Zhou Ming. After looking him up and down for a while, he let out a laugh again, turned to Omar and said, 'Nigger, now you've degenerated to hanging out with the Chinese? Where is the pride of the former Doctor of Law? You're really disappointing.'

Then Kane suddenly had an epiphany: 'I remember now, I heard that Omar you are running for parliament with the support of a few Chinese, right? It seems that you are even more despicable than I thought. I wonder if you have recently stopped reading law books and started reading Tonghua instead, otherwise why would you have such unrealistic fantasies? I'm just curious, do you like Cinderella or the little match girl better, because they both like to dream... Ah!'

The last sound was a hysterical scream from Kane, and then he hopped up, clutching his foot, pointing at Zhou Ming and the others and saying, 'Who just stepped on my foot?'

Everyone, including Lucy and Omar, looked at Kane blankly. Zhou Ming also looked at him innocently and said, 'So you stepped on the back of your foot? Then you're so careless. According to our Chinese saying, you lack the five virtues and are not suitable to be in this place, otherwise you may have more serious disasters, and you may even be possessed by demons. Are you afraid?'

'Of course I'm not afraid. I'm a devout Christian. Only you heathens deserve to die... ah!'

Kane's words were just about to be finished when he let out another scream like a pig being slaughtered. He had to jump away from Zhou Ming and their table, pointing his finger at Zhou Ming and saying, 'It was you, it was you who stepped on me just now, wasn't it? You are all shit, only using such despicable means!'

Zhou Ming innocently put his hands up: 'I said, Kane, you lack all five virtues and are not suitable for this place, or is your foot still not hurting?'

After saying that, Zhou Ming stood up, and Kane immediately took a few more steps back. He said to Zhou Ming, 'You Chinese, just you wait, I won't let you get away with this!'

After saying this, Kane ran away in a few steps. Behind him, Lucy looked at Omar several times before following.

As he watched the figures of Kane and Lucy gradually running away, Omar sat down dejectedly. Zhou Ming also sat down. Omar said a word of thanks to Zhou Ming, who smiled and patted him on the shoulder, saying, 'Don't take it too seriously. That was a mad dog that bit. We are human, and we can't care so much when we are bitten by a mad dog, right? So we have to let go a bit.'

Omar shook his head and said, 'That's not what I meant. I'm afraid my election is in danger.'

Zhou Ming didn't say anything, and Omar continued, 'Mr. Zhou Ming, you may not know the situation in Kane's family. This time, the Election Commission suddenly and temporarily changed the time and place of the vote. Kane must have used his family's influence to do this. I think I may have failed. I'm very sorry, Mr. Zhou Ming.'

Omar said this and lowered his head, feeling very annoyed. Zhou Ming, however, said to him, 'Don't be so pessimistic. In China, there is an old saying: "If the generals come, we will block them; if the water comes, we will cover it with soil. " It means that no matter what the other party does, as long as we use our brains, we will find a way out. Besides, they have only changed the time and place, which may not necessarily be able to manipulate the result. Since they can find so many supporters on time, we can do the same.'

Omar nodded heavily. He stood up and regained his confidence, saying, 'Yes, I believe that justice will not be overcome by evil!'

Zhou Ming smiled at Omar, but soon enough, the result they feared most came out.

Just one day later, the Fenway District Election Commission announced the time and place for voting. It would be held on June 3, 4, and 5, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Voting would take place at Polling Place 34 on Langya Street.

After getting the time and location of the vote, Zhou Ming and Omar had a bad feeling, because they had no recollection of this 34 Lanya Street at all. Not only them, but also the many people they asked along the way to the location didn't know it. They turned around on the road for nearly an hour before finally finding this Lanya Street.

When they arrived, Omar said in surprise, 'My God, if it wasn't for Kane's behind-the-scenes meddling, then it must be that those people in the parliament have water in their heads to set the polling place here!'

Zhou Ming could understand Umar's anger, because this was indeed not a very friendly polling station.

First of all, this was just a very old street. The surrounding houses might be unique, but they were all the same height, and the most important thing was that the house numbers here were not in order. If you didn't look at each house number, you would probably not be able to find it at all. Secondly, the road was very narrow, with shops and residential buildings nearby, but there was no parking lot. The only parking lot was on another street a kilometer away.

In short, if someone doesn't organise the voters to come here to vote, even the most loyal supporters may not insist on coming to vote.

As he thought this, Zhou Ming suddenly heard a slightly mocking voice in his ear: 'Hey? Mr. Huang Pi, haven't we met somewhere before?'

Zhou Ming turned his head and saw a very fat man with an American image walking towards him. This fat man, of course, was Zhou Ming's acquaintance, Bao Te Bo, who had been splashed with faeces by someone on election day.

Zhou Ming did not want to cause any more trouble, so he said, 'I'm sorry, I don't know you, you've probably got the wrong person.'

However, Bob didn't give up, "You had your memory taken away by the devil, but I haven't, I still remember you, you damned yellow-skinned bastard!'

Zhou Ming frowned, "I hope you can keep your mouth shut, otherwise I don't mind repeating what happened half a month ago, but this time I will definitely shove everything into your loose-fitting mouth!'

Zhou Ming's words made Bertolt recall the fear of being publicly splashed with faeces half a month ago. It seemed that the stinking appearance was back, and he couldn't help but shiver. However, he did not back down. He still said to Zhou Ming, 'You Chinese, if you have the guts, go ahead, but I tell you, even if you splash me a thousand times or ten thousand times, as long as I am here, you will never think about the position of councilor!'

'Really?' Zhou Ming asked with a smile, "I'm curious who actually gave you the guts?'

'That's none of your business!" said Botterboo. 'Just remember, I was a councilor in the Vidda community, and I will continue to be one in the future!'

...

Time quickly passed until 7am on 3 June. Zhou Ming and Omar arrived at Lanya Street with their voters. Having surveyed the site beforehand, Zhou Ming knew that the polling station was not easy to find, so he had concentrated the voters in buses. More than 100 voters were divided into three buses. However, as soon as they arrived, some people immediately had second thoughts, because the narrow Lanya Street was already packed with people, and it was difficult for the buses to squeeze in.

'Mr Zhou Ming, you are sure we can vote at eight o'clock, right? Because you know we have to go to work at half past eight. Although I support Omar's policies, I don't want to lose my job. Maybe the money I earn is not much, but it is the biggest income for my family, and neither my family nor I can afford to lose this income.'

This is what a middle-aged Chinese man in the Vinda community said to Zhou Ming. In addition, another Hispanic man also said to Omar, 'Mr. Omar, I wish you success. If possible, I will come in the afternoon, okay?'

Zhou Ming could only helplessly nod his head at these people's words, and then nearly half of the people got off the bus.

'Dear voters of the Vida Community, you know that everyone in life will have a major opportunity to change their destiny. Now that you are able to sit here, you have made the right choice, because your choice will fundamentally change the medical environment of the Vida Community. Your actions are saving your family!'

Omar gave a speech to all the remaining voters on the bus, but although Omar's speech could strengthen the hearts of the voters, it could not change some objective circumstances.

When the three buses finally managed to squeeze through the narrow road and arrive at the parking lot, they found that there were no parking spaces left.

'Damn, it seems we're too late today!' Omar said angrily.

Facing this situation, Huang Yi suggested, 'Teacher, maybe we can just park the bus directly on the side of Lanya Street and let the voters get off to vote. It's only a temporary stop, so it shouldn't be a problem.'

Huang Yi's answer was the sound of sirens wailing as several police cars passed through Lanya Street. Many traffic police got out of the cars and began to hand out parking tickets to the illegally parked cars on the roadside, one by one. If they encountered any resistance, the tow trucks would immediately enter the scene and tow the cars away. At the same time, there were also police officers on standby, and whenever they saw anyone resisting arrest, they would immediately come up and arrest them.

'Damn it, these sons of bitches, they clearly don't want us to vote!' Omar angrily cursed.

Zhou Ming remained calm and said, 'Don't worry, this is not unexpected. Since there is nothing we can do right now, let's go find another place to park. After all, didn't we find an alternative parking lot last time we came here? It's just a little far away.'

Zhou Ming thought for a moment and then said, 'Even if it doesn't work today, there are still two days tomorrow and the day after tomorrow. We still have a chance.'

However, the end result was always the worst. In the end, Omar still lost the election.
