Chapter 2
John
As I lifted my opponent up,I shouted my name and heard the echo in the wind. Thus,I landed his waist on the ground and my brain had already processed the outcome which is;"He is going to be paralyzed for life".
The strange man then asked the crowd if anyone was willing to challenge me. As expected, all hands remained down and he proclaimed me the alpha of the pack and the leader of the realm.
Unfortunately,I was hit with a bat on the shoulder and I fell to the ground. I turned to see who could have done such a thing to the great me and I suddenly woke up to the reality, it was all a dream.
Turning around, I saw my step sister Amelia about to land a heavy slap on my face.(Amelia's mother had passed a year after her birth) "Don't even think of it" I said, jumping to the other side of the bed to avoid the slap.
She called me a scaredy cat as usual and then threatened to kick my ass if I don't get up from the bed.
Honestly, I'm always scared of my sister but out of the pain from the interruption of my sweet dreams, my face was moody and I told her that I was going to be her leader someday. I also brought to her notice that she was going to bow to me before she would say a word to me. I didn't mean to hurt her but she took it personally and barged out of my room.
I didn't mean to hurt her but I was also pleased that I did not receive the early morning beating from my sister.
I tidied up my room, freshened up and set out to complete my circle for the day. Coming out gladly, I met my uncle Josh and the other kids outside. All eyes were on me. I had nothing to worry about because I knew my way through it all.
It was the time for our morning training which I always maneuvered if I couldn't beat it.
Thus,we headed to the field. Our first task was archery which I was naturally good at.
My uncle Josh asked us to go into the bush and get ourselves strong sticks which we were going to use for training. I curiously asked my uncle what we were going to do with the sticks after we brought them. He said, " go ahead and get it".
I went to my sister and tried asking her if she had any idea but she sent me away.
I headed the opposite direction in search of my own stick. We all got ours and then set back. At the field,we took our standing positions. My uncle asked us to break the sticks with the edge of our arms on strike.
I was so afraid of failing my tests,so I have to think of a strategy to get out right. I searched all the pockets of my brain but nothing was processing. I got an idea on what to do but it failed me.
I pretended to have fallen down fatally but unfortunately for me, my sister saved me from my plan. Angrily, I glared at her furiously. It seemed awkward in the sense that my uncle hailed her saying "nice one Amelia" not only that, he called her the protector of the realm.
As a jealous little boy, I was so pissed off that I asked my uncle the reason why he had to call her the protector of the realm. His response was like adding salt to an open injury. He told me that she is my protector and I should be appreciating her for saving my little life.
I would always say that I wasn't jealous of Amelia which was the truth. I was only annoyed with her for ruining my plan.
My mood wasn't good at all, resulting in questions from my uncle. He asked me if I didn't like my life and why I wasn't grateful for the help rendered to me by my sister.
He misunderstood every bit of the story and I myself wasn't ready to spill anything out because it was going to ruin all my hard work and good reputation.
I had to tell him that I was in pain and that I hurt my leg in the hood.
He quickly apologized for the misunderstanding and then asked me to sit aside and watch them train. I smiled so wide and relaxed on the grass. I was so excited that my plan worked out from another dimension. Imagine, what a lucky me.
My sister had become the champion of the day. Everything she did was a style to my uncle and the other kids training with us.
I felt unlucky at some point but I recalled that if I was there, I would have disgraced and disappointed myself. My imagination made me happier that I started cheering my sister up and hailing her for all her victories that day.
I stayed watching others train and I knew within me that I wasn't helping myself but I had no option because I was maybe the scaredy cat my sister always called me.
The training for the day had ended,so we parked up and headed home. On our way home, everyone was in a good mood and so;we chatted and laughed. My uncle Josh also added to the good vibes flowing by telling us stories of their own training days.
I noticed that my sister had been staring at me for some time and I wasn't comfortable with it. I looked at my clothes to know if I had put it on the wrong way but that wasn't the case. I had to approach her and know the reason for the look.
She told me that I had changed my pretentious limping style and I should cover up before any other person finds out. Shockingly, I tried explaining and denying facts but she shut me up by saying "hurry up" in a calm tone followed by "scaredy cat" in a loud tone.
I started my limping style without hesitation. She laughed at me but I had no option than to pay deaf ears.
