Pete
It's been a tough and hard lifestyle. I taught it was the right time to fight for what is rightfully mine. I now regret fighting Jason.
I am now a liability to my little boy Aaron. He is just fifteen years old and at the same time, he has the strength of a thousand men in him.
At times, I use to have pity on him but I can't help the situation. My boy is always alone and keeps battling with his own demons.
Now that I am partially crippled, he has been the one hunting for food, medicine and taking care of me.
As I kept speaking with my ancestors on behalf of my son Aaron, he had just gotten back from hunting.
He called me to let me know that he was already back home. Aaron came into my room and helped me out to the kitchen where I sat and watched him prepare meal for us.
I asked him how it was out there and also let him know that I was aware of the scarcity of food at this time of the year. All he did was to smile at me and also let me know that he knew his way around.
Anything I looked at him,I saw the bravery of my father in his eyes.
As he lit the fire up, he asked me the reason why I would always warn him of going close to the village.
Before now, I would just tell him that they were going to hurt him if they found out whom he was and then I would divert the case.
Now my little boy has matured into a man,I have no option than to tell him how it all started.
I looked at him and told him that I wouldn't hide anything from him again.
I began to speak,
"It all started for your great grandpa. Our family used to and had always been the leaders of the clan. They lived in peace and unity which made him let his guard down.
He taught that everyone around him were all his allies but he didn't know that in every twelve, there was always a Judas.
He and Jason's grandfather were very close friends to the extent that people taught of them as brothers.
He didn't know that Noah who was Jason's grandfather had an interior motive and was looking for his weak point.
Noah had kept the relationship so strong that no one could come in between the both of them.
Your grandpa whom I was named after had suffered from a lung disease which was kept as a secret from the public. Due to the close bond between him and Noah, he told Noah about his illness. Now, Noah had gotten the minute of his life which he had been waiting for . Peter let his guard down and then, Noah isscarioth took advantage of him.
Noah started looking for a means to have issues with your grandpa so that he could carry out his task.
The law which had been there for decades stated that the leadership could only be transferred from a family if anyone could challenge and defeat the alpha of the pack.
It all got to an extent where Pete could not tolerate Noah's bad attitude. The both had to quarrel and each one of them moved on with their lives.
People always wondered what could come between a twenty years relationship.
Their families tried their possible best to bring them together again but Noah had made up his mind.
Pete's illness had already started getting worse day by day and the medicines were no longer helpful as the stages worsened.
And then, Noah who had allies to supplied him with information learnt about the latest update. So, he decided that it was the right and perfect time to strike. Most of his friends supported him while others told him that it was going to be a weak victory.
Regardless, he challenged Pete to a fight in other to claim the throne. If Pete had refused, it was going to be a big shame to him and his family.
He accepted the challenge and the date for the fight was fixed. People were not happy with Noah for the betrayal but they had to follow rules.
On the chosen Day, they both fought so hard but Noah came out victorious because he had focused on Pete stomach.
In front of the crowd, Pete vomited blood from his mouth. And that made the crowd pity him.
Our chief priest had no option than to make Noah the alpha of the pack.
Pete and his family where not longer the heads but they remained silent. He made sure the story of him and his best friend reached the ear of his predecessor. He kept living as an honored man till his ancestors came looking for him.
I wasn't happy with the way things happened so I had to challenge Jason but I lost. And out of shame and rules, I ran away with your mom. I didn't wait to be barnished. I lost myself when your mother died and the only person I could blame was Jason and his family. If it wasn't for them, she would have gotten proper treatments by professionals.
I let anger control me and I went on to challenge Jason for the second time. And now, I'm here hopeless and waiting for you to get me food to eat".
As I finished telling my son the story behind everything, he looked at me and smiled in anger.
I had to also advised him to make the right decision and never forget to do things honorably.
He accepted every single advice I gave him and then he made it clear to me that I wasn't any form of liability to him. He also let me know that he enjoyed every form of responsibility that fell upon him.
He kept acting happy and calm but anything I looked into his brown eyes; I saw rage, anger and sadness.
