CHAPTER 27: CAUGHT RED HANDED

Mona and Nina were seated on the ground, directly opposite thier father's whose gazes were fixed on them. Mona and Nina turned thier faces away, avoiding direct eye contact with thier dads, while Linurk sat at the corner.

"This should be fun" He said inwardly,

"How many times have I told you both eaves dropping is wrong" Radjar said,breaking the silence between them.

"Do you have an explanation" Noel asked,

"Well.....um father.......I"

Mona cut's in before Nina could speak.

"Father I came out to take a stroll and also to check on you to see how you ate doing, I met Nina and both of us got to chat and stood outside your hut" She said,

Noel and Radjar turn to look at each other, both contemplating whether its a lie or its true. At this point they don't know what to believe,

"So eavesdropping is a very strong word, when I'm a daughter wanting to see her injured father and know how his doing" Mona said, speaking assive it's the first time she was caught eaves dropping.

Nina was a good girl to everyone in the village and only displays or shows off her wild side to Mona. She can't lie, she's a really horrible liar, especially to her father. While Mona on the other hand is like the badass friend who likes to break the rules and do all kinds of shit. Did you really think the chiefs daughter is going to be cute, conductive and respectful.

Linurk chuckles a bit after hearing her words. Her alibi was solid, if he decides to say what he heard, he'd rather not the show was too good to ruin now.

Radjar sighs,

Noel stares at his daughter, feeling her fathers gaze, Nina looks away avoiding eye contact with her father. He turns to Radjar knowing him too well that his going to let them go.

"His too soft on her"

It will also seem cruel to punish his daughter after her friends has gone scot free.

Noel sighs as well,

Linurks shakes his head slowly as he stares at the 2 of them,

"Their way too soft on them" He said inwardly,

"Is this what having a daughter feels like"

Radjar just didn't have time to argue with his daughter, he has alot more on his mind to think about like finding the people, the warriors recovery and whether or not the Dare wolves will return to attack. He can only hope the won't otherwise he, his daughter and everyone else are doomed.

"What did you hear"

Radar asked, everyone in the tent turned to him and Mona went into defense mode.

"Hear?" She said acting clueless,

"Hear what?" She asked and turned to Nina.

"Nina did we hear anything"

Nina did not reply, but shook her head, still trying to avoid eye contact with her father while Linurk struggled to hold his laughter.

"We didn't hear anyt......"

Tired of her excuses Radjar cuts in,

"For the very last time Mona what did you hear" He yells loosing his temper.

Mona stopped calmed herself down and became serious for once, she meets her father gaze head on.

"How did you all get through last night" She asked,

"From what you heard, you already know the answer to that question" Radjar said,

Mona sighs,

"So it finally arrived, the warrior from the gods finally came" She said,

Mona always imagined this day, and when it would come. She imagined jumping up and down in joy as the warrior from the god's lead and protect them, but she doesn't feel that way.

Nina raised her head seeing Mona quiet, very unusual of her. It finally gave her the opportunity to get something off her chest,

"Are we going to be okay or Are we going to die" She asked,.

Noel was disappointed in her but even he can't stay mad at her, not when she makes a good point.

"I don't know" Radjar said,

"The light came down, destroyed a large portion of the forest, chased away our enemies and till now it's untouchable" He said.

Hearing his words Linurk got pissed, though it wasn't his place to say something he cuts in.

"Or the so called light in flames is just some huge rock laying on the ground no different from any other piece of useless rock I've ever seen" He says crossing his hands to his chest and frowns,

"Linurk do not disrespect the gods"

Radjar warns him,

Mona found his expression quite funny and giggles lightly.

"Yeah Linurk don't disrespect the gods" Mona said to him and laughs, clearly trying to get on his nerves.

The anger in him rose significantly, having her around gets on his nerves but she has no right to tell him what to do.

"Alright I'm done"

Linurk said and stood up to leave,

"Where are you going?" Radjar asked,

"On patrol, I'm on watch duty tonight. Someone has to make sure those fury blockheads don't attack us in our sleep" He says, passing Nina and leaves the hut.

"What's got him so worked up" Mona asked,

"Nothing you should concern yourself with" Radjar replied,

"So what's the plan now" Mona asked returning to her serious form,

"The most logical thing is to make sacrifices so it can protect us with its destructive powers" Radjar says,

"In that case, why don't I handle it"

Mona say's and Radjar eyes widens in shock,

"What!!!"

He was shocked by her words. Unknown to the girls, he slipped his hand down and began tapping Noel as a sign telling him to do something.

"Yeah If you think about it, I'm the most suitable person for the this, I know how to pray because mom taught me, She also taught me about appeasing the gods"

Radhar didn't just know what to say, he himself knows more than anyone, if he says no, there's no telling what she'll do. Last night showed him exactly how far she would give so he needed some other strategy.

"Actually Noel agreed to do it"

Radjar said turning to Noel,

"I did?" Noel asked stunned by what he heard and Radjar secretly taps him once more.

"OK you can ask me if you need any help" Mona said to Noel,

"Don't worry my dear he'll be fine" Radjar said and Noel nods,

"Sooooooo since that is done can we be excused" Nina said, raising her head to meet her father's gaze.

"Yes you may leave"

Noel said and Nina did not hesitate. She held unto Mona hand and stood up from the ground, dragging Mona along as she left.

"One more thing father, where is the god?"

Mona asked as Nina pulled her out if the hut.

"You don't need to know"

Radjar said, knowing too well that her knowing the location. She would put herself into danger, Mona followed Nina and left.
