Meara knocked on the door and he let her in.
She smells like milk heaven. Her hair is still a bit wet with clumps of hair and she's still wiping them. She wore a comfortable beige night dress with ruffles on the sleeves and hem. Like a big child. Very cute.
"Meara, sit here with me for a minute. Let's talk." He patted the space beside him on the bed.
Meara sat beside him. She took his arm and embraced it while leaning her head on his shoulder.
"Yes, hubby…"
"You…" He sighed.
"I have nobody in my family. For many years after my father and uncle left, my life has been empty. I've always been alone. Days went by drifting like me. But you and Calla filled that emptiness. I am happy that we had a lot of luck and tried things together. But Calla in the future will meet someone whom she can spend her life with."
"It's true…" Meara muttered.
"Which brings me back to you."
"What? Why me? Don't tell me—." Meara faced him, worried.
