BRIAN'S RESIDENT

"Dad I don't get you. What did you mean?"

"What did you mean by that question Rose?"

"Because I don't get what you are saying." She raised her hands up and down in a frustrating gesture.

"What did you mean by that? And what am I saying that you don't understand?"

"Everything, Dad. Everything."

"I thought you loved him. You supposed to be happy. You are finally getting married to him. You once dream of that right."

" Yes but not anymore. Philip is not the kind of man I wish for myself not even for my enemy. He beats me dad. When ever he did something bad and I tried to correct him. He will beat me. What kind of man raise his hand upon a woman?"

"Then you stop correcting him if he doesn't like it."

"What!! Dad!!"

" Yes. You have been engaged to him for a long time now. Now is to get married to him."

"Dad, How could you say that? So you want me to sacrifice my happiness?"

"If that is what you are going to sacrifice for the company, so yes sacrifice it. See Rose, you know how much our company will gain with your marriage with Philip. It's worth is more than your happiness."

"Dad! How could you say that? You are my father. How could my happiness worth nothing to you? I'm your daughter for crying out loud."

"As far as this company is involved, your happiness worth nothing. You have to sacrifice it for our company to move higher."

"I will not sacrifice my happiness for your company dad."

"Stop this your tantrum. You are not longer a child. The date of your wedding has been finalized. I have meet up with Philip and his family. The invitation cards will be out very soon. Go shopping with your friends. Go get your wedding gown and the rest."

She scoffs and look at the man who says that he is her father.

"You don't get it do you? I Rose Brian will not sacrifice my happiness for your greed and selfishness." He slapped her out of anger.

"How dare you call your father a greedy and selfish man?"

"Yes, that is what you are. I will not let you push me to the wall like you did to your first wife. That innocent and pure woman. She did you no wrong."

"What! How dare you Rose to talk to me in that manner!"

"I dare myself! Yes Dad, I dare myself. And I will say it again. I will not let you treat me the way you treated that poor woman. She stands by you when the odds are against you. By her sweat, she pushed you forward to your greatness. But what did you do? You ganged up with my Mom to pay that poor woman with evil and wickedness. You will not use me like the way you used her. "

"I dare you to talk to me like that again."

"I will Dad. Where is your conscience? Have you asked yourself how that innocent woman and your daughter is fairing? Have you tried to look for her and your daughter who you throw out to the street with nothing. "

"No matter how you drag this, you will marry Philip and that is final."

"No you lied dad. Haven't it occur to you that I don't do anything you asked me too? I will never marry him. Over my dead bodies will I do that."

"I will disown you If you don't. I mean it Rose."

"News flash. I have long disown you and Mom when I found out what you two did. You are busy to notice that I changed my name to grandfather's middle name since high school."

"You are pushing me Rose. You truely are. And you will hate me if I should get angry."

"I have hated you long time ago. I have asked myself why did I came out of this world through you people? Why?"

"Roseeeeee!"

"Stop screaming my name. I'm leaving and I promise you that I will not come back to this house again. Find someone else that you will marry off to that demon."

"I will froze all your accounts and trust fund."

"Go on Dad. As if I care. I don't need your dirty, greedy money made out of an innocent woman tears and pain. Tell your wife I said hi."

She turns and leave with no care in the world.

"Rose come back here right now. I said come back here. Rose! Rose!!!"

Rose turns, look at him, smile and wave at him. Before walking out of the mansion. She drove off to God's known destination.

"Dad are you OK? I heard you screaming."

"Is it not your sister. She wants to kill me before my time."

"What did she do this time?"

"She is cutting off the engagement between her and philip.''

"Let her be for now dad."

" Let her be? Did you know how much and how long I have been praying for this wedding? We need their connection."

"But our company got listed last two months."

"Yes, but we still need to spread more. All over the world."

"Leave that to me dad. You know how Rose can be. The more you force her to do something, the more she disobeys you.''

"What are we going to do. What are we going to tell Philip and his Family? How we going to settle it with them?"

"Don't worry dad. Leave everything to me. I will find a way out of it."

"Please do. How was the meeting?"

"It works out for our favour dad. The contract is now handed over to us. We have signed the contract and everything. We will start working on the project next week Monday."

"How did the directors and shareholders take the news."

"Happy off course. As far as I'm generating more money to them, they don't even care how the money is made. All they know is more money in their account."

"Those lazy old fools. Don't mind them."

"Where is Mom?"

"She went out with her friends. what did they even call out. Lady...... I don't know. I'm going up to my study room. If you need me meet me there."
