Chapter 14

They all turned their heads towards Rhiannon as they wondered what she really was up to.

“Madam, how can you do that? You fought so hard for it but now what to give it back? Can you kindly think about it,” the lawyer said in a worried tone.

“I have already thought about it and I know what I am doing,” Rhiannon replied.

Her eyes were on her father as she waited to see his reaction and answer.

“Sister, how can you say that when you know that the shares have already been given to me?” Kaylee asked softly as she cried but her eyes were cold.

“Yes, they have been given to you but you should know that the documents haven’t been processed and taken to the magistrate yet thus if we tear the shares transfer document, there will be no evidence that the shares belong to you. Instead, they will remind dads,” Rhiannon replied.

“You! How can you say that? I know that you just want me to have nothing to call my own,” Kaylee said angrily.

“How can that be my fault? Hasn’t Dad given you hundreds of thousands as a monthly allowance every time? Also, haven’t you been getting paid for working as the manager? With all that money, you can start a small business, buy a shop to rent so that you can be receiving money every month, or even buy a good apartment,” Rhiannon retorted.

“I have become more rich as I always use the money I earned from working well. Now I have a lot of properties while you on the other hand, just like spending your money or jewels and clothes seeming not to think about the future. Just think that Dad will always be there to provide for you or that you will inherit his properties. Don’t you think you are bringing shame to our family?” Rhiannon said causing Mr Clark’s face to darken.

What he cared about most was his face and the company. Now hearing Rhiannon’s words, he was so angry and couldn’t help but blame himself for spoiling Kaylee so much.

He wished that he had treated both girls equally or at least spoiled Kaylee less but there was nothing he could do as he could turn time back to when they were young.

“Kaylee what Rhiannon is saying is true. Actually, I was planning on taking back the shares so that I could help Rhiannon in managing the company. I never expected that we were both thinking of the same thing. Truly we are a father and daughter,” Mr Clark said happily as he glanced at Rhiannon who had a fake smile on her face.

“So Dad, does that mean that you accept my offer?” Rhiannon asked with cunning eyes as she vowed to cause discord between the two first.

“Daughter, how can you think that dad won’t help you out? Just as you said, we can tear the shares transfer document,” Mr Clark replied causing most men and women to shake their heads at his greediness.

As they had all worked together for a long time, they knew what kind of a person the man was and what was really going on his head.

Nonetheless, what was mostly disturbing them was what going on in Rhiannon’s head. No matter how much they looked at her trying to see through her, they were meant to be disappointed as the young lady only had a cold expression on her face.

Even the smiles she smiled, they could tell that they were faked. This made them wonder whether Mr Clark was a fool that he couldn’t see the fake smile but they didn’t dare say anything as they wanted to watch the show.

“Dad, how can you say that? Aren’t I your beloved daughter anymore? You want to leave me with nothing?” Kaylee cried loudly making Mr Clark’s heart ache and at the same time, his expression softened when he looked at her unlike previously.

“Who said that? Although I am going to take away the shares, I will give you 7 percent shares the rest will be given to you when I retire,” Mr Clark told her but inwardly, he was in pain as he couldn’t believe that he was giving out 7 percent meaning that he will only remain with 28 percent.

Rhiannon saw the interaction her lips curved upwards as she smiled mockingly.

If it was in the past, she would have felt jealous of Kaylee seeing that she could easily get their father’s attention and shares since she never got it no matter how much she cried. At the same time, she would also transfer some shares to the latter so that she could stop crying

Now looking at the familiar scene, she couldn't help but wonder how stupid she was that it even led her to lose her life nearly.

Kaylee opened her mouth countless times wanting to say something but when she saw the determined look and glint in her father’s eyes, she didn’t dare say anything as was afraid that if she did, the latter might get angry and even refuse to give her the 7 percent shares.

She could only tell herself that her father had a plan and in no time, she would be able to throw Rhiannon out of the company.

“Quick, give me the papers,” Mr Clark told the lawyer.

Nodding his head, the lawyer took out the documents which had been signed and handed them over.

Worried that if they were torn someone might collect them and then put the pieces together, Mr Clark took a lighter from his pocket and burnt the shares.

The more the paper burnt, the more Kaylee hated Rhiannon.

“Get me some new transfer documents so that I can give her the shares as promised in front of everyone,” he said after the paper was burnt completely.

Luckily, the lawyer had carried some similar documents but they didn’t have anyone’s signature thus he gave them to the man.

When both Mr Clark and Kaylee signed, they both sighed but had different thoughts.

“Rhiannon, the decision has now been made,” Mr Clark said with a smile on his face.

Rhiannon smiled back as her eyes shone brightly due to mischief.

“I am sorry Dad but I asked you to get your shares not just some shares but all your shares now that you haven’t, I can’t give you the position,” Rhiannon said with a smirk on her face.

“What is the meaning of this? Didn’t you promise Dad that you will give him the president seat position?” Kaylee asked angrily.

She had planned that after her father takes the office, she would convince him to let her be in the finance department but she never thought that Rhiannon was just playing around with them.

“Indeed, I did promise but I said his shares not some but all now that he can’t do the end of his deal, why should I keep mine?” Rhiannon asked her making her unable to retort.

“Then why didn’t you say so when you saw that I was giving the shares to Kaylee?” Mr Clark asked with a dark face but Rhiannon wasn’t afraid of him at all.

“Why should I? So that you all may accuse me later on? If you want the seat then it isn’t impossible, just tell her to give you the shares or you burnt the papers once more,” Rhiannon replied calmly.

Mr Clark glanced at Kaylee and their eyes met.

“Kaylee…” he called out her name.

“No Dad. Rhiannon has her shares while I don’t I have to have something to call mine thus I am sorry but I won’t give them to you,” Kaylee said with a determined look.

She had seen the mischief in Rhiannon’s face thus she knew that if she did as said, she would be laughed at and lose everything and she wasn’t willing to.

Mr Clark’s face wasn’t good as he couldn’t believe that his precious daughter couldn’t do such a simple thing for him.

“Are you sure? Is that what you really want?” he asked coldly as he glared at her.

“Yes Dad,” Kaylee answered while shrugging her shoulders.

To her, there was nothing her father could do if she refused to hand the shares to him.

“Dad, since she doesn’t want to, then let her be. You have seen for yourself what kind of a person she is. Just a selfish and unfilial person,” Rhiannon said stabbing Mr Clark’s heart once more and making him look at Kaylee more coldly as if she wasn’t his daughter.

“Dad, since you haven’t kept your end of the bargain, you can’t be the president but I can give you the CEO’s position, what do you think?” Rhiannon asked in a serious tone.

“You aren’t lying, right?” Mr Clark asked as he was afraid that the latter had a hidden agenda.

“Yes, Dad. You are my dad thus I can make the exception,” Rhiannon replied with a smile.

“As expected for my daughter!” Mr Clark said with a smile as he looked at Rhiannon differently from his usual gaze.

‘Although the CEO position isn’t the same as the President's, I can take advantage of that position and take care of some things needed.’

“Kaylee, don’t think that I will help you get back in the company, also, you better start working out there and don’t expect my shares in the future! If you can’t even help me then why should I give you everything?” he said to Kaylee who panicking.

Rhiannon coughed getting everyone’s attention.

“If there is anything else that needs to be discovered, we will discuss it next week. For now, my father will be in charge of the company. Have a good day” she said.

“This is just the beginning! I will make you lose everything and everyone you have!”
