44. Logan is back

On the other side of the city, Alexander Hamilton sat in his office, staring at the report his men had just handed him. The sheer scale of the mobilization detailed on the pages in front of him made his heart skip a beat. He knew very few people capable of pulling off something of this magnitude, and among them, his younger brother Logan stood out prominently. No ordinary gang war or territorial dispute would warrant this kind of display. Sensing that something monumental was unfolding, Alexander immediately ordered his men to investigate which faction was behind this massive move and what their objective might be.

As he mulled over the situation, Alexander realized that the only person close enough to Logan to get some answers—aside from their sister—was Ethan. Without hesitation, he dialed Ethan's number, but before Alexander could even speak, Ethan's weary voice cut through.

"I know what you're calling about, Alexander," Ethan said bluntly. "Yes, it's Logan. He's back."

Alexander fell silent, feeling a cold dread creep up his spine. Ethan continued, his tone both resigned and sharp. "You already know what happened to our sister. Logan's here to set things right, to bring justice in his own way. And you know exactly what that means."

Alexander's voice rose in anger, frustration boiling over. "Why the hell didn't you stop him? Do you have any idea the kind of attention he's drawing? He's pulling every eye in the city onto us—government, military, rival gangs. It's madness!"

Ethan's response was calm but laced with a biting edge. "You of all people should know Logan's nature. Do you think I can just stop him with words? He's not someone you can control once he's set his mind on something, especially when it comes to family. He hung up on me, Alexander. And he wasn't just angry—he was calm, too calm. It's like he's a completely different person, and that's what's terrifying. He's only holding back for now because he's piecing together what happened, finding out who's behind everything. But it's just a matter of time before he strikes."

Ethan paused, then added, "Frankly, I support him on this. It's extreme, but he's doing what needs to be done. It's all for our sister. You and Samuel have had plenty of time to uncover the truth, yet neither of you have given any answers or figured out the real mastermind. If anything, maybe it's best to let Logan handle it."

Alexander was left speechless. He clenched his fist, feeling a mix of guilt and frustration. It wasn't that he hadn't found anything—it was more that he didn't want to accept what he had discovered. The truth was buried in shadows, too dangerous to confront head-on, and Alexander wasn't sure how to proceed. He knew if he made the wrong move, it could set off a chain reaction that would put their entire family at risk.

Ethan, sensing his brother's hesitation, pressed on. "I get it, Alexander. You don't want to believe what you've uncovered, and you're stuck because of it. But while you're hesitating, Logan is acting. If you don't make a decision soon, he's going to blow this whole thing wide open, and it won't be clean."

Alexander sighed heavily, rubbing his temples as the weight of the situation bore down on him. He finally spoke, his voice low and conflicted. "You're right, Ethan. I'm stuck because the truth... it's something I never wanted to face. But Logan, he's not going to hold back. We need to be prepared, not just for what he'll uncover, but for the aftermath. This isn't just about protecting our sister anymore. It's about protecting everything we've built."

Ethan nodded on the other end, knowing full well that the storm Logan was bringing wouldn't just blow over. It was going to change everything, for better or worse. "Then let's prepare. Logan's making his move. It's time we made ours too, before it's too late."
