In a dimly lit hospital room, an elderly man lies on a bed, his eyes fixed on the ceiling as he reflects on his life.
Adrian: "My name is Adrian, an ex-war veteran. Today I turn 82, and I can feel death approaching. Yet, I have no regrets. My life, once filled with the horrors of war, had turned me into a stone, devoid of emotions. But life didn't give up on me. I met a woman, fell in love, married her, and had a son. After the war ended, I retired due to a bullet wound in my spine. My son grew into a fine man, found a beautiful wife, and had a son of his own. The day I held my grandson was the happiest of my life. As the years passed, my grandson grew up, and we spent a lot of time together. He'd insist that we watch various animes, and, surprisingly, I grew to like them. We both loved Pokémon and often argued about which Pokémon was the best. I laugh to myself, thinking how amusing it is that an old man would debate Pokémon with his grandson. I don't feel ashamed; it's as if I've finally experienced the childhood I never had. I used to doubt the existence of God, but after living through all that I have, I believe that even if God doesn't reveal Himself to us, He is still watching over us, guiding us."
Adrian sighs, wincing at the pain in his spine. "Being alone in this hospital is quite boring, and this damn pain is unbearable. I wonder when my grandson will arrive; he promised to visit me after school. Looks like it's going to be another long day. I suppose I'll try to sleep."
As Adrian closes his eyes, darkness envelops him, and he begins to lose consciousness. He curses internally. "Damn death, can't even let me see my family one last time."
After his death, Adrian feels an unsettling emptiness, though he's still conscious. Panicked, he suddenly finds everything turning white, and a middle-aged man with a gentle smile appears before him. Adrian takes a moment to calm himself.
Adrian: "May I ask who you are?"
God: "Some call me God, some call me the Creator, but it is up to you to decide what I mean to you."
Adrian is stunned. He begins to question himself, staring at the man before him. Despite his confusion, the only explanation he can accept is that he is dead and standing before God. He drops to his knees.
Adrian: "Thank you, Lord, for granting me a good life."
God: "Rise. I don't need your thanks. I am pleased that you don't blame me for the hardships you faced at the start. There are very few souls like you."
Adrian: "I wouldn't dare accuse you of anything."
God: "I am quite happy today, so I will grant you a second life with three wishes."
Adrian feels a surge of excitement at the thought of living again. He ponders his wishes carefully and makes his choices.
Adrian: "Lord, for my first wish, I want to be reincarnated into the Pokémon universe, specifically in the Kanto region."
Adrian: "For my second wish, I wish to retain the memories of my past life."
Adrian: "And for my third wish, I want an AI-based system."
He carefully considered his choices, wanting to ensure that his memories remained intact and that he had an AI system to help him with Pokémon stats.
God smiles at Adrian's wishes.
God: "You are clever to wish for your memories to remain; many forget this crucial aspect and are reincarnated without them."
"Now, how would you like to be reincarnated? Would you prefer to start as a baby, or should I create a body for you and send you there? If you choose the latter, you may select one starter Pokémon for your journey."
Adrian, opting for the more reasonable choice, selects the second option.
God: "So, you choose the second option. Good."
A screen materializes before Adrian, allowing him to design his new body. He shapes it to his liking—slender yet muscular, with slightly tanned skin, at 18 years old, 6 feet tall, red eyes, and black hair. He even ensures his little brother is 9 inches. For his starter Pokémon, he chooses Chimchar, admiring its final evolution and Blaze ability. After finalizing his choices, he looks at God.
Adrian: "Lord, how does the timeline work in the Pokémon universe?"
God: "Ah, I nearly forgot to mention that. The planet you're going to is 100 times bigger than your previous world, so 1 year there equates to 10 years here. The elements are so rich that people tend to live very long lives and age slowly. That's why Ash never seems to age."
Adrian reflects on this, realizing that if his previous world operated on the same timeline, he might have lived up to 800 years on average.
Adrian: "Lord, I am ready."
God: "Good. May you enjoy your new life to the fullest."
With a wave of His hand, God opens a portal beneath Adrian, pulling him in. Adrian feels himself becoming unconscious, drifting away to his new life.
