Kai had just finished signing the necessary documents and dropped them off at my office. The next step was to sign off the shares to Renee, then push Ines even further to sell more of her personal shares to me. Once I had them, I could move ahead, transferring everything to Renee, and then, finally, pushing Ines out of the equation.
It would be the perfect plan—take control of what's rightfully mine and secure Renee's place as the rightful owner of that office.
Staring at the documents in front of me, I wanted to pick up the phone and tell her the good news—tell her how everything was coming together, how soon this would all be behind us. But I knew better. I knew she wouldn't take my call.
Our last conversation hadn't gone as planned. She was hurt, confused, and I couldn't blame her. I had opened up just enough to make things worse, and now I was waiting, trying to give her the time she needed to process everything.
