MILES

Renee strode into the room with an unmistakable glow of excitement, her smile so wide it was practically a celebration in itself. "I just transferred the money to Adan," she announced, her voice brimming with satisfaction.

I let out a sigh, setting my MacBook down on the bed before stretching my arms open toward her. "I haven't seen my wife all day, and the first thing you tell me is about him?" My tone teasing. "Do you really think I need to hear that bastard's name more than I need to hold you?"

Her grin didn't falter as she dropped her bag onto the sofa. She walked straight into my embrace, wrapping her arms around me like she had been waiting for this moment all day. 

I pulled her in tighter, not caring that her work clothes were brushing against my freshly showered skin.

"I missed you," I murmured against her neck, pressing a kiss there.

She giggled, her fingers curling into my shirt. "I missed you too."
