Chapter 88: A New Beginning

Chapter 88: A New Beginning

Emily was growing increasingly curious as Ethan remained silent. She continued to ask questions, her curiosity piqued.

Ethan cast a complex look at her. "It's nothing. Just some advice."

Emily was clearly dissatisfied with this answer.

Noticing her pout, Ethan smirked. "Really want to know?"

Emily shot him a sidelong glance, her eyes speaking volumes.

Ethan opened the car door for her. "Let's head home and talk about it there."

Emily settled into the car, her almond-shaped eyes still fixed on Ethan with suspicion.

His expression was subtle, reminding Emily of the cryptic advice she received from the traditional Chinese medicine doctor during her first visit. The doctor had warned her to maintain good health, eat regularly, avoid cold and spicy foods, and be mindful of certain behaviors.

Emily's brows twitched slightly.

Ah-ha.

She cast a nonchalant glance at Ethan, who no longer seemed as excited as before.

Of course he wasn't happy.

Starting now, this werewolf would have to follow a vegetarian diet for ten months, or even a year.

Emily suppressed a smile, planning to tease the brooding werewolf further.

"Hey," she nudged Ethan's arm. "Tonight, you're sleeping in the guest room."

Ethan's eyes widened. "Why!?"

Not only was he being denied food, but now even denied the chance to see her?

Cruel.

This was too cruel!

Emily pouted slightly, her eyes challenging him. "Why do you think?"

Her hand rested on her flat abdomen, a silent reminder.

Ethan bit his lip and glanced forward. The driver had already donned his Bluetooth headset, clearly aware of what was happening.

Ethan leaned closer to Emily, lowering his voice. "The doctor didn't say we had to sleep separately; just that for the first few months..."

Emily raised an eyebrow at him, a teasing smile playing on her lips. "Do you think you have that kind of self-control?"

Ethan remained silent.

He was known for his extreme self-discipline. Aside from robots, he considered himself the most self-controlled person.

But in front of her, all his restraint vanished. His greed was insatiable, always wanting more...

Ethan wrapped his arms around Emily's slim waist, pulling her close with a rare firmness in his tone. "We can't sleep apart."

He nuzzled his chin into her shoulder, adopting a familiar pleading tone, his voice carrying a hint of petulance. "I want to sleep with you. Just to hold you."

Emily pursed her lips, muttering, "When have you ever said otherwise...?"

Ethan's words were often deceptive.

How many times had she been deceived into believing otherwise?

Ethan placed his hand over Emily's resting on her abdomen. "This time I'm serious. I know the importance."

Inside her was their precious baby.

He certainly wouldn't risk anything.

Ethan continued, showing his commitment. "I can't leave you alone at night. I want to be beside you to take care of you."

Emily considered saying, "You? Take care of someone?" but realized that in recent days, he had indeed been attentive and caring.

He might not be adept at caring for others, but he was certainly skilled at taking care of her.

Emily grabbed his chin, asking in a different way, "So how do you plan to take care of me?"

Just then, the car stopped in the garage of their home.

Ethan didn't let Emily open the door. He got out and opened it for her, carrying her out of the car.

He carried her all the way from the garage to the elevator and then to their bedroom, never letting her feet touch the ground.

Once inside, he helped her change into comfortable shoes and clothes, placing a soft cushion behind her back.

Without even taking off his own tie, he busily poured water for her.

Emily took the cup of warm water with honey, experiencing a new kind of joy in making him serve her.

Who said that the joy of the wealthy was simple and plain?

It turned out that squeezing this biggest and most relentless capitalist was quite pleasurable!

A momentary thrill of squeezing him. For the next nine months or even a year, Emily planned to enjoy this feeling thoroughly.

Ethan, after serving his queen, loosened his tie and sat in front of the sofa, watching Emily drink her water.

He found himself smiling unconsciously, looking content and willing to be squeezed.

Once Emily finished, he sat beside her and asked, "Are you hungry? Is there anything you want to eat?"

Emily shook her head, hugging one of his arms and resting her head on it, using him as a human pillow.

Ethan adjusted his position so she could lean closer.

They sat together, quietly and comfortably, while the afternoon sun streamed through the floor-to-ceiling curtains, filling half the room with warm light. Dust particles danced in the air, adding to the tranquil beauty.

The chaotic morning felt like a distant memory.

Emily gently touched her belly, feeling a deep, intricate emotion.

All the tears, struggles, and suppressed emotions seemed insignificant compared to the tiny embryo growing inside her.

But she had never felt so willing.

Everything was worth it.

The child with their bloodline had finally taken root in her womb.

It was the best, and the most affectionate testament to their love and their past.

Emily glanced sideways and saw Ethan also looking at her belly.

His long eyelashes cast shadows on his face, his deep-set eyes carrying a faint shadow. He was motionless, lost in thought.

Emily tapped his arm. "What are you thinking about?"

Ethan's eyelashes fluttered as he shook his head. "Nothing."

He touched her belly again, speaking to himself, "There are still over nine months..."

Over nine months felt like an eternity to him.

He wanted to see the baby as soon as possible.

He hoped it would be a girl.

A little girl who would be as beautiful and sweet as her mother.

Then he could hold her and shower her with affection~

But over nine months also seemed too short.

He needed more time to prepare and learn how to be a father.

He didn't want to be like his own father. Unfortunately, he had no good role models.

He was just beginning to learn how to love and be a good husband, and now he had to become a father...

"Emily," Ethan said softly.

Emily responded, "Yes?"

He gazed at her face, his emotions shifting.

"Do you think I'll be a good father?"

Emily was momentarily stunned, then smiled with narrowed eyes. She reached out and rubbed his face.

"Yes. You'll definitely be a good father!"

Her Brother Ethan, though sometimes a bit of a dog, was very protective.

He pampered her without any principles.

Such a person would likely be very protective of their child.

Even if he didn't know how to be a father at first, she believed they would gradually grow into capable parents, just as they had developed their sweet and harmonious marriage.

Ethan's face relaxed significantly upon receiving her affirmation. He took her hand and kissed it, then suddenly remembered something.

He got up and went to the study, returning with a file folder. He handed it to Emily.

Emily recognized it immediately: it was the supplemental agreement on dividing the Harrison Family assets that had caused an uproar.

"You didn't want to sign this before, saying you would wait until you were ready," Ethan said, placing the pen in her hand.

"Can you sign it now?"

Emily looked at the agreement, still hesitant to sign.

Initially, she had seen this agreement as a sign of his sincerity, a reassurance for her, and her strongest support within the Harrison Family.

But now, Emily didn't see it that way anymore.
