#1 - I Accidentally Became An Olympian God

I let out a loud YAWN! as the bright golden sun flood into my now open eyelids, and I breathe in the fresh saltwater breeze, ready to enjoy my first day of summer break.

Ah, Montauk! What a divine place to be. I've always been drawn towards this place, something about the sea that makes me feel... energetic? Powerful? I don't know exactly, I couldn't place a finger on it. I've always pushed it out of my mind, just the way I'm doing it now.

"Kaidën! Breakfast!" My foster mom, Lauren, shouted from the downstairs of our holiday cabin.

My mom was very pretty, and I'm proud of that. She had shiny silky black hair, olive skin and deep blue eyes that reminded me of the sea. She'd taken care of me since I was a scrawny little boy, two years of age, and I will always appreciate her for that. Especially because I was not her biological son.

"Coming, Mom!" I replied her, before swiftly putting on my favourite outfit combo; An orange T-shirt, brown cargo shorts and my black boots, before going downstairs.

After having one of the best breakfast of my life (breakfast is always better in Montauk), I went out to the one place I felt comfortable, the sea. The day was almost normal. The refreshing sea breeze blowing in my hair, the warm golden sun hitting my face, pure bliss. But, as I said, it was ALMOST normal.

By noon, when I was out surfing, some creature got a hold of my foot and toppled my surfboard, pulling me into the vast blue sea. I didn't see what kind of creature it was, but I knew it pulled me in with its tentacles.

As much as I loved the sea, I hated tentacled creatures. It creeps me out, and I'm not easily scared. I tried my hardest to resurface, crying out for help while struggling underneath the water so I would not drown. And then, I realised something very weird.

I was not drowning. Or suffocating. I- I was breathing! Under water!

"Welcome, Master Kaidën," a voice echoed in my head, "for this is where you truly belong."

I looked to my side, not sure why I did that, but I finally saw what pulled me into the sea.

...

Of course, it was an ordinary octopus, obviously it had to be. But, I had a feeling that this situation was not ordinary, and that octopus was definitely the one that was talking to me.

This ordinary octopus situation was about to make my life... well, not ordinary.

{=•🔱•=} - {=•🔱•=} - {=•🔱•=}

After that weird incident, I didn't have to be told before I knew I had to leave the beach. As I finally got to the shore, I ran towards my mom's cabin. It wasn't hard to find, though I had strayed from it a little bit. I noticed a few groups of surfers whispering to their selves, looking at me.

"Where have you been, Kaidën," my mom asked, now aware of my presence, "I was about to send a search party out to look for you." I noticed she was trying to stifle her laugh.

"Very funny, mom." I replied her, not amused. I carefully plopped onto the couch. Now that I was the comfort of my mum's cabin, the unending and unanswered questions started to flood into my mind.

Why do I feel more energetic when in the water?

How was I literally breathing under water?

Why did the octopus call me master?

How was I able to hear the octopus talk in the first place?

With all of these questions run through my head, I had began to develop a headache. I decided to let loose with a little bit of TV.

I approached the little flat screen TV hung on the bamboo wall to turn it on when... I noticed a faint little glow coming from... No way. It was coming from my skin!

My skin was... glowing?!

"What the-" and in a sudden flash of a blinding light, I was teleported out of Montauk. There I was, standing in front of twelve strong-looking figures, seated on thrones in a U-like formation. I looked round at all of them staring at me, like a pile of poop just appeared in front of them, and I could recognise them from my Latin classes.

What where their names again? Uh... the king and queen were definitely Zeus and Hera, then Zeus' brother Poseidon... Demeter, Ares and Aphrodite, Athena, the twins, Artemis and Apollo... Haphaestus, Hermes and uh... Dionysus. Yes.

But... they weren't real. They are just myths. Right?

"Who is this?!" the one who was definitely Zeus said in a voice that echoed in the room like thunder.

"Uh.. I might be tripping but, I think he looks a teeny bit like you, Poseidon." Hermes spoke up, if I'm not mistaken, in a Dominican accent.

That's when I had the chance to look carefully at myself. My skin was glowing, brighter than before now. I was clad in Ancient Greek clothing, sandals and all, with a golden laurel around my head.

I had a few sea shells decorating my hair and my birthmark which looked like a trident, well, looked more like a trident now.

I was at least 3 feet taller, now standing at a 8"11 height, with a more defined set of muscles. I looked... like a God.

"Uhh... what's going on?" I mustered enough courage to say, "and where am I?" When you're literally standing in front of the 12 Olympian Gods, I think you're meant to be afraid.

"What is your name, young lad?" Hera spoke with a very delicate tone, in a royal British accent.

"I- I'm Kaidën Suriname, from New York." I managed to respond, still stealing glances at the transformations of my body.

Immediately I said my name, Poseidon and... Athena, glanced at each other, like they knew who I was... and where hiding it from the other Gods.

Zeus glanced at his brother and noticed the tension between Poseidon and Athena.

"Poseidon,..." he dragged his name, as if threatening him, "...is there anything you are hiding from the Gods?"

"Uhm- well-" Poseidon nervously tried to avoid the question, but I guess he didn't know how to. He was DEFINITELY not getting out of this. At this point, I would gave loved some popcorn, cause I knew it was about to get ✨juicy✨

"I knew we wouldn't be able to hide it for eternity, Poseidon." Athena spoke up, "We should just tell them. They deserved to know."

"Ooooh, Drama." Dionysus said, snapping his fingers and a glass of wine appears. Exactly what I said. I could already feel my imaginary popcorn in my hands.

"H- He's my son, Zeus," Poseidon finally said, "He's our son." He concluded with a finger motion between him and Athena.

...

I dropped my imaginary popcorn.

"WHAT?!" Zeus' voice boomed all over Mount Olympus, causing the hall go tremble. Yeah, I have already figured that's where I was.

"Wait, Y- you're m-my dad," I said looking at Poseidon, "-and you're my mom?" now looking at Athena.

There was an eerie silence in all of Mount Olympus. Zeus was fuming, my "mom" and "dad" were ashamed with their heads down, the other gods were shocked (except a few like Dionysus who was unfazed), and I just realised...

I just accidentally became an Olympian God.
