Incidents

I seem to have regained consciousness, although my head is a little sore, but at least I'm still alive.

Although my body wasn't injured in the slightest, but still I couldn't move because I was now tied to a chair in a dark room, but I didn't feel any injuries on my body.

How many days have passed? And where am I now, everything is pitch black I can't see anything.

And this room smells so bad, I can't stand being in this room any longer.

"Freeze."

I cast a freeze spell to freeze the chains that bind me and then break the chains, as expected breaking them is easier when the chains are frozen.

"You can cast magic? Not bad."

Suddenly a voice that seemed to come from a man echoed in this dark room, I don't know where his voice came from but I'm sure he was in this room.

*clap*

A moment after the clapping sound that echoed throughout this room, a lamp lit up this room, allowing me to see the whole room clearly.

"BLUURGH!"

"How disgusting, don't throw up in front of me."

How I couldn't vomit, I saw three corpses lying on the floor, and even worse I recognized them all, they were Mr. Eddie and his son and wife.

Their bodies were already rotting, with many black spots covering their bodies and blood coming out of their mouths and eyes.

What I couldn't stand was, the figure of a little girl's corpse lying lifeless like her parents on the floor.

That child must not have known anything but was dragged into all this because of their parents, how miserable.

"Forgive me, forgive me, forgive me, forgive me, forgive me, forgive me, forgive me, this is all my fault, I killed them all, I deserve to die here."

My tears could not stop coming out, I really regretted having come to this house, because of me they became like this now, even though they had served me delicious food but I repaid them by committing evil.

"Calm down buddy, it's not your fault, they've been making a lot of suspicious movements lately."

Not my fault? So whose fault is it? Who should be responsible for this tragedy?

"Maybe you're too tired, I'll take you back, Modeus."

"Back? Where?"

"To the Einzvil residence."

On our way out of the house, we were greeted by two twin little girls, the children of Lord Eliphas.

They stood in front of the house smiling happily when they saw me being carried by this man.

" Big Brother Abigail, well done!"

" Well done!"

"Who are you by the way?" I said.

"Abigail Einzvil, I'm the first born of the Einzvil family."

"I see, so you're the older sibling of the two."

"I believe so."

After that short conversation, Abigail took me back to Lord Eliphas's residence, we didn't speak a word on the way, he seemed to be quite a calm and composed person, unlike his younger siblings who were always lively.

And even now I still can't erase my memory of the corpses of those three people, I keep imagining the figures of their corpses lying lifeless under me, and the one who killed them was me.

The family had been so kind to me that they even invited me to have dinner with them, but look what I've done to repay that kindness.

What a shameful, ungrateful thing to do.

When we arrived at Mr. Eliphas's mansion, Abigail immediately took me to Mr. Eliphas's office, he didn't care about my condition which was still a bit nauseous at the thought of the dead bodies of those people.

"Abigail, Modeus thank goodness you're back safely."

" Immediately report on the situation," he continued.

"I found a lot of human remains in the basement of Eddie's residence, and Modeus was chained up in another room underground."

Many human bones? So are you saying that what I ate in that house was human flesh? Did they really eat that?

"Then, what about their condition?"

"They died of poisoning, and the poison is not an ordinary poison, according to my observations it is a kind of poison with a necrosis effect that makes blood and nerves frozen," Abigail explained while taking out a small glass bottle with purple blood inside.

"I also didn't detect any changes in the magic atoms and materials made from magic in the room, it seems they were indeed poisoned to death," he continued.

"Did you do this, Modeus?"

Lord Eliphas suddenly stood up from his chair and looked at me as if he was interrogating a murderer, but I knew nothing about this incident.

"I don't know."

"But according to the report, you were chained up, right? And there was no change of magic atoms or matter made of magic in the room, so how did they die?"

"I don't know, I'm sorry."

"Alright, Abigail take him to his room and double check if he's hurt or not."

"Okay, dad."

Abigail then carried me back outside the room and asked me if I could walk by myself or not, I said I could and he led me out of the room into the hallway of the mansion.

The hallway was very long, we had walked for several minutes and passed through several doors but it seemed like we still hadn't arrived.

Abigail still remained silent, he didn't even glance at me even once until we finally arrived at the end of the mansion hallway, there was a dark room that seemed to be a warehouse where old unused items were stored.

"Come in."

"Eh? You mean here-"

Before I could finish my sentence, I suddenly felt a pain on my cheek, did I just get hit?

*bam* *bam*

"Hentik-"

*bam* *bam* *bam*

"Guh-"

The sound of punches was heard several times from the room but no one noticed, probably because Abigail deliberately brought me to the corner of this mansion so that no one would help me.

"Huff huff."

I looked at him in shock with my face already battered after being beaten by him, I didn't understand why he was doing this.

"Get out of here, if I see you again I'll kill you."

After beating me he then went out leaving me lying amongst the piles of chairs and tables that seemed to be unused.

There's a lot of dust in here and the room is also dark, my whole face hurts, I can't see clearly through my left eye, it seems like he really didn't hold back when beating me just now.

Why did I have to be beaten up like this, what did I do? Did I do something wrong?

I can't stand it anymore, first I was tied up underground with many corpses inside, now I'm being beaten for no clear reason.

I thought they had accepted me in this place, was Abigail's action just now also an order from Lord Eliphas? Should I not be here in this place?

"Then, where should I go?"

" In that case, I will take your place."

A voice came from inside my mind like a telepathy, but I recognized this voice, although it was a bit faint but very similar to my own voice. I'm sure this must be that kid's voice.

"Alright, I trust you."

"My poor Modeus, you made me cry tears of joy today, then hide as usual and leave the rest to me."

It feels warm, I've felt this before although I don't remember when and where, but I'm very familiar with this comfortable feeling, everything feels calm and peaceful.

No one can hurt me if I hide here.

I must be safe here.

*third-person point of view*

In a room with many interiors in the form of demon worship tools, such as pentagram paintings, goat heads, demon statues and some unknown spell writings were neatly displayed along with an antique table that was roughly made of glass.

A person sitting behind the desk was writing something on paper with several holographic screens radiating in front of him, although he could type all his work into a digital device but he chose to write everything manually on paper.

A very ancient method, people in the city didn't even recognize paper and pen anymore, but this man used it as if he was an expert.

For some reason he kept all the documents and whatever he wanted to write away from all the advanced digital devices in the house, one of which was for security reasons.

Although the digital security system in this era is very secure, it still does not rule out the possibility of a very reliable hacker being able to break the security of the system.

Logically, it is very safe to use old-fashioned methods to store documents, but it is inefficient because it takes up a lot of space, resources and energy when compared to digital devices.

For example, thousands of books neatly arranged on a library shelf can be stored in a chip the size of a human finger, but the risk is that all the books in the chip can be accessed by anyone who is able to hack it.

So the benefits are equal to the risks, it also applies to the ancient method of books, although it requires a lot of resources, more energy and a large storage space but the security is very guaranteed even you can keep it for thousands of years until all the books are covered with dust.

*knock* *knock*

"Come in."

"Sorry to interrupt your work father, I've taken the boy to his room and checked his condition."

"Then how is it?"

"He's not hurt at all."

Abigail actually didn't expect compliments or anything from his father, he didn't think about that at all.

As the first child and the older brother of her younger siblings, he had to act more mature.

But that guy, Modeus.

Why was father so kind to him? What was his good point? Wasn't he just a spoiled child who was timid and careless? But when he disappeared, Father panicked and immediately told me to look for him all over the village until I found him.

Even when I didn't come home for a few days, he didn't even show the slightest concern for me and asked how I was doing.

Fifteen-year-old Abigail still needed the affection of his parents but his father who never paid attention to him forced him to think like that and started to hate Modeus.

"Alright, you can go out now."

"Okay dad."

As Abigail turned around to head out of the room still feeling upset, he suddenly found that Modeus had been there all along.

Their faces were very close and it made Abigail very surprised.

And strangely, Modeus was very different from the one he beat up earlier, the bruises that were all over his face had also disappeared like nothing had ever happened to him.

I don't feel his presence, since when has he been behind me, Abigail thought still surprised.

"Ah Modeus, how are you?"

Breaking the awkwardness between Modeus and Abigail was Eliphas who began to notice Modeus presence.

"Yes I'm very well as you can see right now, please forgive me if I've caused you any worry," Modeus replied while bowing politely to Eliphas.

"Then thank goodness, I was just about to call you to talk about you guys in the future."

Abigail's irritation grew when he saw Modeus grinning at him up close, as if Modeus was deliberately throwing fuel on the flames to make them grow bigger.

However, Abigail who was still in front of his father could not do anything, he could only silently listen to them talking to each other which made Abigail even more annoyed.

"From now on you will work, Modeus."

"Exactly what kind of job will I get?"

"Abigail will tell you the details, from now on you will be working with him as a team."

Abigail who heard the sentence that came out of his father's mouth was shocked and expressed his disagreement frantically.

"Please wait a minute, are you not discussing this with me first?!"

"Abigail, you know we're short on combat power and Modeus happens to be able to use magic, he could be a perfect teammate for you."

"That's true, but I'm used to working alone, suddenly being told to work as a team is impossible dad!"

"I do not accept any complaints, Abigail!"

Eliphas looked at Abigail with serious eyes and lost all courage to continue fighting against his father, and Abigail reluctantly bowed silently in agreement with the decision.

Modeus who saw Abigail's pitiful face then smiled slightly and thought things would get more interesting.

"Alright, if there are no questions, you may leave."

After Abigail and Modeus heard those words, they went out and the increasingly annoyed Abigail couldn't stop looking at Modeus who had been grinning for no apparent reason.

"Follow me," Abigail said.

Modeus who already knew that Abigail was upset and seemed to want to do something to him, he without lowering his guard followed Abigail from behind.

They finally arrived at a quiet place in the forest, the place was full of shady trees and the large Einzvil family mansion was no longer visible.

Abigail did not stop walking and did not look back even though they were already very far from the village of Grayfield.

Modeus, who was getting bored from walking for so long, started to open up the conversation and broke the awkwardness between the two of them.

"Isn't this far enough?"

"..."

Abigail who heard that suddenly became even more annoyed and finally looked at Modeus for the first time in a long time after walking away from the village.

But those were not the eyes of a person who would make friendship with you, but rather the eyes of a person who had already gotten his prey, namely the eyes of a beast.

Modeus who sensed the danger right in front of him did not feel afraid, in fact his grin widened even more and the strange sensation that stimulated his body made Modeus even more excited.

"Black Magic: Infernum Flamma!"

The battle began with Abigail casting a demonic spell after which a large dark red flame burned anything nearby.

Of course, Modeus was caught in this fire.

Naturally, anyone who had been hit by the demonic magic fire would not survive for a few seconds, but because Modeus's body regenerated faster than the burning process of the demonic fire, so he did not feel anything.

"Kihahahahaha this is making me nostalgic!"

Modeus' loud, shrill laughter from within the demonic flames then made Abigail unable to believe what he was seeing.

This had never happened before.

The demonic flames that could burn a human in a few seconds to ashes had no effect on Modeus, and he even seemed to enjoy the flames.

"Black Magic: Augmento Virtus!"

Abigail still did not give up and continued his efforts by pushing himself with all the power he had plus the strengthening type demonic magic he had just cast.

Then his body accelerated at high speed and clenched his fist towards Modeus body, but Modeus didn't seem to be trying to resist or dodge, he was still grinning slyly at Abigail's efforts.

Seeing the golden opportunity, Abigail poured all his strength into this one initial attack and targeted his fist with all his might towards Modeus' abdomen.

*bam*

That was Abigail's physical strength reinforced with demonic magic, anyone who took that attack raw would definitely not have his body in one piece anymore, and of course that also applied to Modeus whose body was now scattered everywhere.

"Impossible..."

Abigail knew, or rather he realized that Modeus smile that he had been seeing was the smile that ensured his victory, no one could smile while death was right in front of their eyes.

He saw with his own eyes, the regeneration of his body that should have been separated into several parts was now intact without any injuries, even taking less than a minute.

And at that moment, Abigail realized he was not fighting a human, but an immortal being more terrifying than the demon he had been hunting down.

"Is this all you've got? It's not even as painful as when I was ground into porridge back then."

"Well I'm no longer underestimating you, this is enough to explain why you weren't hurt at all when you came to father's room earlier."

Modeus suddenly felt the atomic pressure of magic thickening around him, realizing that Modeus then swiftly prepared a defensive spell around him.

"Ancient magic of the hero family, Einzvil."

"Black Magic: Solvo Terminus Atque Verto Daemon Forma!"

Suddenly after Abigail cast the spell, his body gave off a pitch-black aura, a pair of horns grew on his head and a tail also suddenly grew behind his body.

The entire body was covered in something like stone, or rather demon skin which then formed a black armor that covered all parts of Abigail's body.

The black armor that he had been using to exterminate demons, now switched its function to exterminate humans who might exceed demons.
