Chapter 16: The Hidden Talent Revealed
"I think I should check it out since I currently don't know the true extent of my inborn talent. This could be my opportunity to find out," Huang Nian murmured to herself.
Years ago, she had taken an inborn talent test, but at that time, her meridians were blocked, hindering the energy flow in her body. The result labeled her as a trash cultivator.
"Master, are you seriously planning to test your inborn talent?" Little White's voice echoed in her mind.
"Yes, I want to see the real result this time."
"Master, I'm really excited to find out what your true inborn talent will be!"
Huang Nian followed the excited crowd toward the testing hall organized by the Mystery Sect. Most of the crowd were mere spectators since they had already taken their inborn talent tests. The ones being tested today were mostly young children, around five to six years old.
"Who's that young miss? Why is she taking the test now?"
"She probably got an unsatisfactory result before and is trying her luck again, hoping her talent might've improved with age."
"Wait… isn't she the so-called number one trash of the Longyuan Dynasty?"
"You mean the eldest miss of the Huang family, Huang Nian?"
"Yes, that's her. How shameless of her to take the test in her teens!"
Mocking whispers filled the air as cold gazes fixed on Huang Nian, their ridicule evident.
A young boy stormed out of the hall, disappointment written all over his face, indicating his result wasn't what he had hoped for.
"Miss, it's your turn," the manager said, eyeing Huang Nian with a hint of curiosity before leading her into the hall.
Inside the grand hall, a complex puzzle rested on a wooden table. A white-bearded elder sat at the center, his eyes closed, exuding a calm and detached aura. It wasn't until Huang Nian entered that he slowly opened his eyes.
"Rearrange the puzzle," the elder instructed calmly.
"Okay," Huang Nian replied, focusing on the task.
Ten minutes passed as she silently worked on the puzzle. The elder opened his eyes slowly, expecting the usual failure. "What was I even expecting? Nobody can solve that puzzle except me and a few other elders," he muttered.
Just as he was about to dismiss her, a sweet yet confident voice rang out. "I'm finished."
The elder's eyes widened in disbelief. He inspected the puzzle closely, his expression stiffening. Fourteen years ago, the Mystery Sect had recruited Di Chen, an inner disciple who had become the last disciple of Grandmaster Song Weilong. Despite his orange-colored inborn talent, even he couldn't solve this puzzle.
'I need to see what her inborn talent is. She might've just been lucky solving the puzzle,' the elder thought.
"Young girl, do you know how to circulate your Qi energy? Walk over to the side stone, place your right hand on it, and circulate your Qi energy," the elder instructed.
Huang Nian followed his instructions, closing her eyes and calmly channeling her Qi.
Swoosh!
Suddenly, the stone emitted purple rays of light. There were various ratings tested by the stone: purple, violet, blue, green, orange, yellow, and red. Purple was the lowest rank, while red was the highest.
"Purple," the elder muttered, unimpressed. In this realm, most people with purple-colored talent were deemed unsuitable for training.
But then, something unexpected happened—the rays of light began to change.
