XXXVI: She Had Healed It

"You're going to marry Shaun."

Henry's words were so unexpected that Angela blanched, her face draining of color as she struggled to compose herself.

"What?" Her voice trembled with shock. It had only been three days since Zara's birthday, and now her father was arranging her marriage without even consulting her. She tried to recall who Shaun was—then she remembered. He was the vampire. She had sworn she would never marry a vampire, and yet her father seemed entirely unconcerned about forcing her into such a union. Well, he had no idea.

"You're going to marry Shaun." Henry repeated, his tone stern and unyielding, as if her opinion mattered not at all.

"I won't marry Shaun," Angela said coldly, her voice firm despite the whirlwind of emotions within her. "I will never marry a vampire."
