The ride back to Elyverde was quiet. Mainly because the witch and elf who occupied the space had a great deal on their minds and were reluctant to speak.
Angela had found Zayden the previous day, but he was so closed off that she couldn't even tell him what she wanted to say. She had even asked him what the problem was, but as usual, he remained silent. So she kept her thoughts to herself. Now, as they traveled toward Elyverde, each of them gazed out of their respective windows, lost in contemplation.
Gabriel had cherished their company at the castle and had wished for them to visit again soon. Jennifer, too, shared this sentiment along with her mother. Zayden had promised they would return, and though that promise was not made directly to her, it made Angela's heart flutter with hope.
