Chapter 42: School Entry

Jiangbei University.

Li Dong had visited Jiangda many times in his past life and was familiar with it.

Standing at the entrance of Jiangda, Li Dong felt a sense of nostalgia.

In his previous life, he envied Jiangda students. He remembered that when he graduated, Jiangda students had no trouble finding jobs, and if the monthly salary was less than three or four thousand, no one paid any attention.

In contrast, Agricultural University students had it much tougher. Li Dong still remembered competing with seven or eight other people for a job with a base salary of just twelve hundred.

Yet, after all these years, he found himself a Jiangda student in this life. Fate truly had a strange way of working!

"Hey, are you a new student? What's your major?"

A deep male voice interrupted Li Dong's thoughts.

Li Dong looked up and shook his head, sighing, "I'm not a new student."

Wei Hao was puzzled. Not a new student?

But the old students had already started classes. This guy with a suitcase couldn't be an old student who was late, could he?

Seeing Wei Hao's confused expression, Li Dong couldn't help but laugh.

When Wei Hao saw Li Dong's smile, he realized something and said, "Are you kidding me? Quickly tell me your major, or I won't help you with the registration!"

Li Dong didn't respond and sighed deeply again.

"What's wrong?" Wei Hao became curious, noticing Li Dong's constant sighs.

"Jiangda is full of beautiful girls. Why did I end up being a senior? Ah, senior, you should go ahead. I'll wait here for a beauty to pick me up."

Li Dong lamented, feeling that fairy tale stories were all lies, promising beautiful campus guides that never appeared.

Hearing Li Dong's complaint, Wei Hao nearly spat out blood. So this guy was complaining about him!

Wei Hao glared at Li Dong but then took his suitcase and said, "Kid, stop feeling sorry for yourself! The beauties are busy dating and don't have time to welcome you."

"Besides, meeting you is my bad luck! I was hoping to meet a beautiful junior, but I ended up with you."

Li Dong chuckled, finding Wei Hao's words amusing, and continued joking, "Why don't we wait a bit longer? You wait for your junior, and I'll wait for my campus beauty."

"Go away. You're obviously not a good person." Wei Hao laughed and scolded, then introduced himself, "I'm Wei Hao, a junior in the School of Management."

"I'm Li Dong, majoring in International Economics and Trade." Li Dong also introduced himself.

Although it was their first meeting, they quickly hit it off.

...

As Li Dong chatted with Wei Hao on the way, he found Wei Hao to be quite talkative and cheerful, making the conversation enjoyable.

The registration process went smoothly. Wei Hao knew many people, and it took less than an hour for Li Dong to complete all the formalities with Wei Hao's help.

After receiving the bedding, it was just past eleven.

Li Dong asked curiously, "Senior, you seem to have a lot of connections. Are you a student union leader?"

Wei Hao chuckled and casually replied, "Not really a leader, just someone who handles trivial matters."

Despite his modesty, Li Dong realized that Wei Hao was likely a student union officer. Usually, a junior student would at least be a department head, and it was impressive that Wei Hao was involved in the student union.

However, Li Dong didn't care too much. He enjoyed chatting with Wei Hao and wasn't bothered by titles if they didn't get along.

Changing the subject, Li Dong and Wei Hao continued their chat until they arrived at the dormitory.

Li Dong's dormitory was in Building 12, a newly constructed dormitory. The building was very new.

Wei Hao escorted Li Dong to the dormitory building and then clapped him on the shoulder with a smile, "Li Dong, your dorm is in Room 351. I have some errands to run, so I won't take you up."

"Don't go yet. Let's have a meal together later," Li Dong invited.

Wei Hao waved his hand, "I really have things to do. I'll treat you next time. I know where you live, so I'll come to your dorm next time."

Seeing that Wei Hao wasn't just being polite, Li Dong said goodbye to him.

...

Dorm 351.

When Li Dong arrived at the dorm, the door was open, and someone was already there.

Because it was a new building, each dorm in Building 12 housed six people.

The beds were not the old-fashioned bunk beds but the kind with a bed on top and a desk and cabinet below.

Hearing the knock, a chubby boy who was standing by the door hurried over to help, introducing himself, "I'm Meng Qiping. What's your name?"

Li Dong saw that Meng Qiping's cheerful smile was quite endearing and replied with a grin, "I'm Li Dong, from Qingyang. We're dorm mates from now on."

After placing his luggage on the empty bed near the window, Li Dong noticed that the other five beds already had belongings, and two parents were still there. He nodded to the others but didn't say much.

Seeing that the beds and cabinets were a bit dirty, Li Dong took a basin to the public bathroom to get some water for cleaning.

By the time he returned with the water, the parents had already left.

Once the parents were gone, the atmosphere became lively.

A tall guy with long hair and glasses smiled at Li Dong and said, "Hi, I'm Xu Chen, from Tongshan, Jiangbei."

Another guy with a crew cut quickly added, "I'm Zhang Hao, from Lou Tai, Jiangbei."

Apart from Meng Qiping, there were two others who weren't there. One had just left with his parents, and the other, whom Li Dong hadn't seen yet, had left their luggage.

"Li Dong, from Qingyang!"

Li Dong repeated his name, and everyone was officially introduced.

Most of the students were from Jiangbei, including Meng Qiping. The four people who arrived were all from Jiangbei.

Since it was their first meeting, there wasn't much to talk about. Li Dong cleaned the room while chatting with the others.

After finishing, Li Dong realized he needed some daily supplies and asked, "I'm going out to buy some things. Do you need anything?"

"No need. My parents brought everything when they came," Zhang Hao said, shaking his head and pointing to his desk, which was piled with items.

Xu Chen and Meng Qiping also shook their heads, indicating they didn't need anything.

...

When Li Dong returned with his purchases, all six dorm mates were present.

Zhang Hao, Xu Chen, and Meng Qiping were all there. The last one was Yuan Qingfeng, who had come back from seeing his parents. He was from Lu Province, tall (at least 185 cm), and quite handsome.

However, he seemed a bit aloof and spoke intermittently, generally not initiating conversation.

The final person was Li Tie, a stout and dark-skinned boy who introduced himself, "I'm Li Tie, from Qingyang, Jiangbei."

Li Dong smiled at this and replied, "What a coincidence, we're both from Qingyang and share the same surname Li. I'm from Dongping. Where in Qingyang are you from?"

"Nanping, close to Dongping."

Li Tie smiled, showing his somewhat naive nature. Nanping and Dongping were very close, with little accent difference.

After a brief introduction and discussing their ages, Li Tie was the oldest among them. He mentioned he had repeated a year, followed by Yuan Qingfeng, Li Dong, Xu Chen, Meng Qiping, and Zhang Hao, who was the youngest.

Although they had established their ages, they still addressed each other by their first names.

Since it was their first meeting, they wouldn't call each other "big brother" or "little brother" until they got closer. Such terms would only come with a stronger bond over time.

...

While they were talking, there was a knock on the dormitory door.

Zhang Hao went to open it and was stunned to see a beautiful woman standing outside. He stammered, "You… you're looking for someone? This is a boys' dorm..."

"I'm not looking for anyone in particular. I'm your counselor, Fang Qingfei. Let's all get acquainted."

Fang Qingfei smiled, revealing two shallow dimples on her cheeks.

Zhang Hao was stunned. He hadn't expected his counselor to be so young, probably only twenty-six or twenty-seven, and also so beautiful. He was left speechless for a moment.

Li Dong hadn't anticipated his counselor being a young woman either.

However, he quickly reacted and said, "Hello, Teacher Fang. I'm Li Dong."

"I'm Xu Chen..."

They all introduced themselves, and Fang Qingfei jotted down notes in a small book, though it wasn't clear what she was writing.

After a few exchanges, Fang Qingfei announced, "Since everyone is here, I'll inform you that there will be a class meeting tomorrow at 3 PM in Room 502 of Building 3. Those interested in running for class officer positions should prepare their speeches in advance."

After everyone responded, Fang Qingfei left after giving a few more instructions.

Once Fang Qingfei was gone, Meng Qiping excitedly said, "Wow! Our counselor is such a beauty. We're in luck. We won't need to nap in class anymore."

"Don't get your hopes up. Counselors usually don't teach classes."

Li Dong dampened their excitement with a comment, which led to a collective sigh of disappointment.

Despite the letdown, everyone was still pleased to have a beautiful counselor, thinking it would be nice to interact with her over the next few years.

As for Li Dong, he wasn't too concerned. Qin Yuhan was just as beautiful, and he didn't need to feel envious.

Moreover, with Fang Qingfei as their counselor, any thoughts of pursuing her were likely futile. The chances were slim.

Of course, these guys were just talking. If it came to actually pursuing her, they might not have the courage.
