May 1st.
At 11 AM, the plane landed at the Capital Airport.
As Li Dong stepped out of the terminal, he couldn't help but glance at the sky.
In his previous life, he had visited Beijing, but that was several years later, in 2005 when he went to college. At that time, he had never been out of Jiangbei Province.
When he first came to Beijing, it happened to be during one of the most severe periods of smog, so his impression of the city wasn't particularly good.
Additionally, being from the south, Li Dong wasn't accustomed to Beijing's climate and always felt that his nose was particularly dry.
Subconsciously rubbing his nose, Li Dong pulled out his phone to call Qin Yuhan.
The call was quickly answered, and the first thing Qin Yuhan said was, "Li Dong, don't tell me you're in Beijing!"
Li Dong's mouth twitched, and he remained silent for a while.
"You really came, didn't you?"
Seeing that Li Dong didn't respond, Qin Yuhan was surprised and confused.
Li Dong rubbed his nose vigorously and sneezed before finally saying, "Qin Yuhan, don't you know that intelligent women are not liked?"
Qin Yuhan ignored him and asked urgently, "Are you really in Beijing? Where are you now?"
Li Dong couldn't hold back anymore and said gloomily, "I'm in Beijing. Are you at school or somewhere else?"
"I'm at school now. I'll come pick you up!" Qin Yuhan said hurriedly.
Li Dong snorted, displeased, and said, "Do you look down on me? Do you think I can't find my way?"
Qin Yuhan paused for a moment and then said with amusement, "Fine, if you're so confident, then come by taxi yourself. I'll wait for you at the school gate."
Li Dong, feeling smug, hung up the phone and hailed a taxi to Peking University.
Li Dong had often heard that Beijing's taxi drivers were knowledgeable about everything from astronomy to geography, and they were very chatty.
He was looking forward to the ride, but to his surprise, the driver only said two things.
The first was when Li Dong got in the car: "Where to?"
The second was when Li Dong got out: "80 yuan!"
Li Dong was deeply frustrated. Did he not receive a warm welcome and was being discriminated against?
He considered arguing with the driver but felt it would be too childish, so he gave up on that idea.
As soon as Li Dong got out of the car and was still getting his footing, he heard a girl nearby say, "Is that him, Yuhan?"
"He doesn't look like much. I don't see any resemblance to a pretty boy."
"But he does look pretty muscular. Seems like a strong guy."
After saying this, Li Dong felt someone poke him in the waist.
Li Dong's face turned as dark as Bao Gong's (a historical judge known for his stern appearance). He glanced at the girls who were looking at him like he was an alien and forced a smile, saying, "I'm Li Dong!"
"We know you're Li Dong. Does your brother's name happen to be Li Xi?" asked a cute girl with big eyes, making a playful expression.
The girl who had just poked Li Dong in the waist continued, "He doesn't have a brother. No, he should have a brother…"
Li Dong nearly spewed blood. Were these students from Peking University?
They were incredibly eccentric. It was shocking that Peking University had such peculiar individuals.
What worried Li Dong even more was that Qin Yuhan was in the same dorm with them. This was too dangerous!
Fortunately, before these girls could continue bothering Li Dong, Qin Yuhan pushed them away and scolded, "Move aside, have you no shame?"
The eccentric girl laughed and said, "Shame? What's that? It's not like you can eat it. But Yuhan, your boyfriend really seems to be quite strong."
Li Dong was completely speechless. He wanted to cry and laugh at the same time: "Haven't you introduced yourselves yet?"
The eccentric girl was the first to get angry. "Are you looking down on me?"
Li Dong widened his eyes in confusion. How was he looking down on her?
As if understanding Li Dong's confusion, the girl said angrily, "You didn't have the right tone when you mentioned 'experts'. It sounded dismissive, mocking, and there's still a part I haven't figured out yet. Care to repeat it?"
Li Dong felt like crying. Was this beautiful girl actually a goddess of… absurdity?
It wasn't a lie to say she was beautiful. Apart from Qin Yuhan, this eccentric girl was probably the prettiest among them.
Unfortunately, her mouth was too sharp, which most men probably wouldn't be able to handle.
Li Dong didn't want to continue talking with these high-IQ eccentric girls. It was exhausting.
Fortunately, Qin Yuhan rescued him by introducing the eccentric girl to Li Dong, "This is Qi Fangfang."
Li Dong nodded. He had guessed correctly. Qi Fangfang was usually the one who gave Qin Yuhan the most peculiar advice.
Seeing Li Dong scrutinize her, Qi Fangfang snorted and said proudly, "Don't think you're so impressive. You're not my type, so don't get any ideas!"
Li Dong was taken aback. How much confidence did one need to say something like that in front of Qin Yuhan?
Ignoring her, Li Dong quickly shifted his attention to avoid being tormented by this eccentric girl.
Qin Yuhan then pointed to the cute girl and said, "This is Zhang Mengmeng."
Li Dong nodded again. Zhang Mengmeng was indeed cute, but he wasn't into round faces. Otherwise, keeping her would have been nice.
The last girl, who had been silent, introduced herself, "I'm Zhou Yue. Nice to meet you."
Li Dong sighed with relief. Finally, a normal person. He quickly said, "Hello, I'm Li Dong."
This was a proper introduction. Qi Fangfang and Zhang Mengmeng had completely ignored the usual formalities, making Li Dong wonder if he had gone to the wrong place.
After the introductions, Qin Yuhan took Li Dong's hand and scolded, "Why didn't you tell me before coming?"
"Cut it out. I just wanted to give you a surprise. It's the same old routine. Nothing new," Qi Fangfang said disdainfully.
Li Dong was on the verge of breaking down and wanted to shout, "Whose hospital lost a person? Please come and take them back!"
But he decided against it. He knew he wasn't a match for this eccentric goddess.
Pretending not to hear Qi Fangfang's comments, Li Dong smiled and said, "Since I'm here, you're not going to send me away, right?"
Qin Yuhan was very pleased and said sweetly, "Why would I send you away? I'm so happy you're here. This is the first time you've come to see me."
Li Dong felt a bit guilty.
But he quickly patted his chest and said, "Don't worry, I'll come to see you often in the future."
This time, Qi Fangfang didn't cause any more trouble, and Li Dong was slightly relieved.
After chatting a bit more with Qin Yuhan, Li Dong checked the time and asked, "Have you guys eaten yet?"
Everyone shook their heads. Qi Fangfang complained, "If you hadn't come, we would have eaten already. Now, you have to treat us to a good meal."
Li Dong laughed, "No problem. I'm not familiar with Beijing, so you decide where to eat, and I'll foot the bill."
In Jiang University, he kept a low profile, but in Beijing, he wouldn't.
On one hand, Li Dong didn't plan to stay in Beijing for long, and on the other hand, he wanted to boost Qin Yuhan's reputation a bit.
Although one meal wouldn't change much, it was important for them to know that Qin Yuhan had a well-off boyfriend.
The dynamics between women can be complex. Despite their outward friendliness, one can never be sure of their true feelings.
Qin Yuhan was beautiful and an outsider. It's possible someone might be envious of her.
