Chapter 105: Ideal International Building

After buying the underwear, it was nearly nine o'clock when they returned to the hotel.

Qin Yuhan chatted with Li Dong for a while and then said, "I'm heading back to school."

Li Dong looked at her with a hint of sorrow, "You really don't want me to come with you?"

Qin Yuhan pecked him on the cheek and joked, "Alright, this is your reward. When we get back to Pingchuan, I'll be with you every day."

Li Dong was reluctant, but seeing Qin Yuhan's insistence and understanding that she didn't want to embarrass herself in front of her roommates, he had no choice but to reluctantly see her off to school.

The next morning, Qin Yuhan arrived at the hotel very early.

After having breakfast together, the two walked hand in hand to Peking University.

Entering the university through the west gate and walking for a few minutes, Li Dong saw the famous Weiming Lake.

In the spring and summer, Weiming Lake is at its most beautiful. Strolling around the lake, Li Dong felt a sense of peace wash over him.

It wasn't just the beautiful scenery, but also the rich cultural atmosphere of Peking University.

A century of cultural accumulation, the crystallization of Chinese wisdom. Here, it felt like one could shed all worldly worries.

Li Dong immersed himself in the experience and sighed after a long while, "What a pity!"

"What's the pity?" Qin Yuhan asked curiously.

Li Dong gave a self-deprecating smile, lamenting that he was ultimately just an ordinary person unable to free himself from worldly desires.

But Li Dong only sighed; after all, who in this world can truly cast aside worldly desires? Even monks in remote mountains still rank themselves, and he, Li Dong, was no exception.

Without explaining to Qin Yuhan, Li Dong and Qin Yuhan continued to visit Boya Tower, the Red Building, and the university library...

For lunch, they chose to eat at the campus cafeteria. The cafeteria at Peking University was quite good; even though it served large pot dishes, Li Dong felt it was better than Jiang University's.

Maybe it was psychological, or perhaps it was because it was his first time there.

After lunch, they went to the Wusi Sports Field to watch a school team match.

After the game, seeing Li Dong staring outside, Qin Yuhan casually said, "Just outside is the famous Zhongguancun. Do you want to take a look?"

Seeing Li Dong shake his head, Qin Yuhan continued, "Actually, Zhongguancun isn't that interesting. It can't compare to the beauty of the Summer Palace. But if there's a chance, I'd like to visit the Ideal International Building to see if we might run into any legendary seniors from Peking University..."

Before Qin Yuhan could finish, Li Dong interrupted, "Ideal International Building?"

Li Dong felt the name was familiar, as if he had heard or seen it somewhere before.

Finally, when Qin Yuhan mentioned the legendary senior, Li Dong suddenly remembered!

Oh no, how could I forget something so important!

Li Dong felt regretful, thinking he had forgotten about buying stocks when he first reincarnated last year.

If he remembered correctly, Baidu's headquarters was now in the Ideal International Building.

And when did Baidu go public?

Li Dong remembered clearly that Baidu's IPO on NASDAQ caused a global sensation. It was in August of this year; he couldn't recall the exact date.

Last summer, during his vacation, many people discussed how Baidu's IPO created numerous billionaires.

Unfortunately, now it was only three months before Baidu went public.

The internal IPO process at Baidu had likely already begun, and it was almost impossible to buy the initial shares now.

Everyone wasn't foolish; even if they couldn't guess how much Baidu's stock would increase, it was clear that they would make a fortune.

If Li Dong had had money last year, he might have been able to buy some initial shares. Now, it was nearly impossible.

Sighing, he lamented missing out on a great opportunity!

But it wasn't too late. Baidu hadn't started its IPO yet, and individuals could still participate in the initial public offering if they had money. There was still a chance to get rich.

Li Dong had read a report stating that during the roadshow in the U.S., the share price was still under twenty dollars.

On the first day of listing, the stock price exceeded one hundred dollars, and at its peak, it even soared to seven or eight hundred dollars.

Later, when the stock was split ten to one, the price surged again, increasing nearly a hundredfold.

Li Dong didn't want to think too much; he would cash out if the stock price increased tenfold. Investing tens of millions could yield hundreds of millions in return.

Thinking of this, Li Dong began to consider finding a way to get in touch with Baidu's higher-ups to see if he could get a good deal during the stock issuance.

However, they probably wouldn't regard Li Dong highly—a small-time supermarket owner from a place like Pingchuan. These IT industry elites might not even pay him any attention.

Looking at the Ideal International Building across from the south gate of Peking University, Li Dong knew that in three months, many billionaires would emerge from there.

"Li Dong, what's wrong?" Qin Yuhan asked, seeing Li Dong's changing expressions and unable to hold back.

Li Dong came back to his senses, took a deep breath, and finally said, "It's nothing. I just remembered that I seem to have something I need to do."

He did have something to do. It wasn't too late, and there was still an opportunity.

What Li Dong needed to do now was to raise money. It would be best to buy the initial shares, but if that wasn't possible, he would still need to participate in the public offering.

Because he had something on his mind, they canceled their afternoon trip to the Summer Palace.

Li Dong just wanted to quickly call Sun Tao to see how much cash he could raise.

Free money shouldn't be wasted.

Instead of letting foreign funds take advantage, Li Dong wanted to get a share of it.

On the way back to the hotel, Qin Yuhan seemed in a bad mood.

Seeing Li Dong frowning and lost in thought, Qin Yuhan couldn't help but ask, "Li Dong, are you thinking about seeing her?"

Li Dong looked up, confused, "See who?"

Qin Yuhan, trying to keep her anger in check, huffed, "You know exactly who! If you really want to see her, I won't stop you!"

Li Dong scratched his head, bewildered. He didn't understand Qin Yuhan's point.

Not knowing what Qin Yuhan meant, he said, "Can you be clearer? I don't understand."

"Still pretending!" Qin Yuhan, seeing Li Dong's confusion, snapped, "If you don't want to see her, why do you keep staring at the south gate?"

Li Dong was speechless. The south gate was where the Baidu headquarters was located, so what's the big deal?

Moreover, he was genuinely curious about this legendary figure, Li Yanhong. If it weren't inappropriate, Li Dong would have liked to see this future big boss.

What on earth was Qin Yuhan thinking?

Li Dong looked at Qin Yuhan with a clueless expression, wondering if she could explain more clearly. Didn't she know he wasn't as smart as them?

Seeing that Li Dong seemed not to understand, Qin Yuhan wasn't sure if he was pretending or really didn't get it.

But since she had already said something, Qin Yuhan decided to be clear.

She immediately said, "On the other side of the south gate is Renmin University!"

Renmin University!

Li Dong instantly understood. Qin Yuhan was jealous.

Who else could be at Renmin University? It seemed like the only person Qin Yuhan knew there was Yuan Xue.

Li Dong looked innocent, feeling wronged.

He wasn't familiar with Beijing, so how was he supposed to know Renmin University was just beyond the south gate of Peking University? This was too unfair.

"I'm wronged!"

"I don't believe it!"
