Chapter 194: A Roofless House Encountering Rain in the Middle of the Night

After discussing Shen Qian's promotion, Sun Tao asked, "Li Dong, can we pay for the land in installments?"

Aside from the 35 million Li Dong had already spent, another 45 million was required. This was not a small sum, and Sun Tao hesitated at the thought of using such a large amount of money.

With 80 million already spent, it would put significant pressure on Yuanfang. If the Pingchuan stores were not yet under construction, 80 million wouldn't be too difficult for Yuanfang to handle. However, with the Pingchuan branch expansion plan in progress, it created substantial pressure on Yuanfang.

Li Dong nodded and said, "Pay in full. It's best to settle the land issue as soon as possible."

Li Dong was also worried about potential delays. If they dragged it out, Chen Rui and his group might get wind of it. If they learned about the subway lines, they might cause trouble.

Moreover, these second-generation elites urgently needed money, and Li Dong knew they wouldn't agree to delay.

Sun Tao nodded and didn't press further.

After Sun Tao and Liu Qi discussed a few more details, they left the office.

As soon as they were gone, Zhou Haidong came in and said, "Li Dong, we found her!"

Li Dong breathed a sigh of relief. At last, they had found Wang Jia!

"What's the situation? When can she return?"

Zhou Haidong shook his head and said, "The situation is a bit grim. Miss Wang is currently in the hospital. The doctor says she's been burning up and is a bit disoriented now. It's not suitable for her to be moved right now."

Li Dong stood up abruptly, frowning, "How could this happen?"

"The hospital says it's a result of fever and rain. It's beginning to turn into pneumonia. She's been on IV for a few days. Though her condition has slightly improved, the high fever hasn't subsided. The doctor says if the fever doesn't go down soon, it could be dangerous."

"So serious!"

Li Dong was startled. If something happened to Wang Jia, the Wang family would truly be in trouble.

As if adding insult to injury, Wang Jia fell ill at such a critical time. It was no wonder she hadn't been in touch with Pingchuan.

Li Dong frowned and paced a few laps before saying, "Make arrangements. I need to go to Beijing."

"Okay, I'll arrange it immediately," Zhou Haidong nodded.

---

Having money made things easier.

Deciding to go to Beijing, Li Dong arrived in the city around 3 PM that same day.

After exiting the airport, Li Dong and his two companions hailed a taxi and headed straight for Beijing Third Hospital.

Just as they arrived at the hospital entrance, Li Dong received a call from Fang Qingfei.

On the phone, Fang Qingfei asked why he hadn't attended the class meeting.

Li Dong gave a vague response, avoiding mention of Wang Jia's situation, and finally managed to brush Fang Qingfei off.

At the service desk, Li Dong inquired and found out Wang Jia's ward. He then headed directly to the inpatient department.

However, before he reached Wang Jia's room, he heard a commotion coming from it.

Li Dong frowned. The environment was too noisy. How could patients rest in such a setting?

Looking at the bustling crowd, Li Dong sighed. With so many people, the doctors probably couldn't manage.

Li Dong decided not to get involved and went straight to Wang Jia's ward.

Upon entering the room, Li Dong was taken aback.

This was no longer a hospital room but more like a tea party. A dozen middle-aged women were chatting loudly and cracking sunflower seeds.

The four beds were surrounded tightly, and Li Dong couldn't immediately spot Wang Jia.

The women noticed Li Dong and one of them sitting by the door asked, "Young man, who are you looking for?"

"Wang Jia!"

The woman pointed inside and said, "The bed at the far end. Not to complain, but you must be Wang Jia's family, right? You've been so heartless. The young lady has been sick for days, and no one came to take care of her…"

"Yeah, the poor girl can't even walk. It's hard for her to go to the bathroom."

"Not to mention, she hasn't eaten properly for days. Just some porridge in the morning. No one made her any soup."

"…"

Li Dong frowned and forced a smile, "Thank you for your concern. Could you please clear a path for me?"

With a smile on his face, Li Dong was cursing inside.

Knowing the girl was ill, and you're having a tea party?

With your loud voices, you're more likely to make her sicker.

Finally, Li Dong managed to make his way through and reached the far end bed.

Seeing Wang Jia for the first time, Li Dong was astonished, even more so than when he first saw her mother.

Was this still Wang Jia?

Her cheeks were colorless, her complexion sallow, her eye sockets sunken, and her hair in disarray. If Li Dong hadn't interacted with Wang Jia before, he would hardly believe it was her.

At that moment, Wang Jia was asleep, obviously exhausted. Otherwise, she wouldn't be able to sleep in such a noisy environment.

Li Dong checked that she was still on an IV, thought for a moment, and decided not to wake her.

He gently touched Wang Jia's forehead; she still had a fever. After inspecting the room's environment, he said nothing and turned to leave.

The women exchanged glances, momentarily silent.

Within ten minutes, two nurses arrived and entered the ward with Li Dong.

Seeing the nurses, the women no longer blocked the way, allowing them to pass.

The nurses then began pushing Wang Jia's bed out. The woman who had first spoken to Li Dong asked, "Young man, are you changing wards?"

Li Dong smiled and said, "Yes, thank you all for taking care of her these days. Wang Jia is changing wards now, which should make things easier for you."

Without waiting for their reactions, Li Dong followed the nurses out.

Once he left, someone murmured, "Showy and poor. The Third Hospital's wards are expensive."

"Clearly, they're rich. Did you see the two bodyguards with him? By the way, who is this young man to Wang Jia? If he's so wealthy, why didn't he come earlier to pick her up?"

"Hard to say. He might be a mistress. The main person is watching from the front."

"Sounds reasonable, but I didn't expect Wang Jia to get involved in such things. No wonder her parents haven't come to see her."

"Ah, nowadays, there are all sorts of people. Just look at my neighbor, Old Wang's family. The old man is over fifty but keeps bringing a college student home overnight…"

---

"Director Chen, can she move now?"

"Better not. Her fever hasn't fully subsided yet. I suggest she continues to rest for a while."

"But there's a real issue in Pingchuan that requires her to return. Her mother needs surgery and won't enter the operating room without seeing her. We really have no other choice. Director Chen, please think of a way."

---

Wang Jia, in a daze, heard someone talking nearby. The voice sounded familiar.

She tried to open her eyes but couldn't.

Until the familiar voice mentioned her mother, Wang Jia found some strength and suddenly opened her eyes!
