Chapter four

I was still surprised by how the tentacle had decayed beyond recognition, and the reason was unclear.

After leaving the lab, I went to the training ground for a proper spar to clear my head. The general was passing by and challenged me to a fight, which I accepted. We started fighting, and I threw the first punch, causing him to bleed slightly. However, he began fighting violently, started choking me, and his expression turned dark. It felt like he had intentions to kill me. I gave up, but he continued choking me until a guard blew the whistle, stopping him. He smirked and said, 'We will do this another time,' before leaving.

I stood in shock, trying to process what had just happened, a guard approached me and said, 'The king wants to see you in his room immediately."

When I arrived at the king's room, he told me he suspected that the poisoning wasn't done by a spy from Peninsula and asked me to investigate this case myself.

He also told me that the minister of warfare of peninsula was secretly training an army.

My father offered his support if I needed anything.

After leaving the king's room, I went to eat and then slept, but many questions flooded my mind: Who tried to kill my father?

What was wrong with the general? Why is he acting weird?

What exactly is that ugly, weird-looking creature and why did the tentacles suddenly decay, even though I had preserved them well? What caused the death of the creatures we saw in the forest?

I hoped to find answers soon.

The next morning, I went to my dad's room to check on him and found Nova and Alpharex guarding the door. They were committed to protecting him. I saw him sleeping and left to avoid disturbing him.

I then met Mars and Stellar, who were joking around. I told them about the previous day's events, and Mars brought a book containing information about Peninsula. We discovered that Peninsula was once part of the North Province before revolting and had been conquering nearby settlement, before their new king put an end to the continous war.

However, we were puzzled about two things. Firstly, that the current king of Peninsula is a peaceful king and why would he suddenly want war? Everyone loves him because of the way the transformed Peninsula into a better place.

Secondly, why is the minister of warfare in Peninsula secretly training an army, even without the king knowing about it.

This really seemed suspicious.

We started planning on what to do, I told Stellar to help me find out about about who poisoned my dad, I also told Mars to find out if there was any change in the government of Peninsula, and I too will find out about what happened during when they were destroying the black manbin trees from the head farmer.

Stellar volunteered to go undercover as one of the palace maids to find out how that poisoned fruit managed to pass through all the necessary test done for the king's food.

Mars told me he would travel to peninsula the next day to start the investigation.

After I left Mars and Stellar house, I went to the palace and immediately went to my father's room to discuss with him about our plans.

I spent the rest of the day with my dad before going to bed.

When I woke up the next the morning my father summoned me and he told me that last night royal guards caught two creatures trying to smuggle black manbin fruits out of Avalon, but one escaped and the second one was apprehended and presently in the custody of the royal guards at the investigation court.

He told me to give him feedback on whatever happened in the investigation room.

I was shocked as i entered the investigation room I saw him lying in a strange position, i moved closer to him but i realized his body was as cold as ice.

The only lead i have is dead !!!!
