Beast Warrior

Under the colorful neon lights, Ye Fan quickly crossed the dance floor with his backpack, heading straight for the bar's exit. The transaction had gone smoothly, and Wu Tianming, seeing him as a potential big customer, had once again given him a 5% discount.

This time, Ye Fan had purchased a million star coins' worth of potions, which, barring any unforeseen circumstances, should be enough to support him through his first blood transformation. However, just as he reached the middle of the dance floor, his body suddenly stiffened. He sensed two intense, tangible killing intents locking onto him from opposite directions.

Feeling this, Ye Fan's expression changed slightly, a sharp glint flashing in his dark eyes. He didn't look back but instead quickened his pace towards the bar's exit. The crowd in the dance floor was too dense—if a fight broke out, it would put him at a severe disadvantage.

"Who sent these assassins? Could it be that the Golden Secret Society has discovered I'm still alive?" Ye Fan's mind raced at the possibility, but he quickly dismissed it. The method the Golden Secret Society used to kill him had been so meticulous that it was hard to believe anyone could have survived it.

Ruling out that thought, Ye Fan considered the possibility that it might be related to the black market. Ambushes and murders in the black market weren't unheard of, especially when the stakes were high enough. But then again, everything he had on him wasn't worth that much, certainly not enough to tempt the powers behind the black market. Moreover, if someone from the black market were going to make a move, they would likely wait until Ye Fan left the bar. Starting a fight so blatantly inside the bar seemed far too impatient.

These seemingly plausible reasons were quickly rejected by Ye Fan, leaving him uncertain of what was happening. In his previous life, he had been the renowned Thunder God, with countless enemies who would have gladly seen him dead. The number of people who wanted him dead could have filled an entire planet.

But now, he was just an ordinary lab assistant, someone who hadn't even completed his first blood transformation. The previous owner of this body was just a small orphan who rarely ventured beyond a hundred-kilometer radius from the orphanage and had little opportunity to make enemies.

Since his rebirth, Ye Fan had been cautious, making sure not to offend anyone powerful. The sudden appearance of assassins now left him puzzled. However, he didn't have time to think it over—his pursuers were getting closer, and the intense killing intent was making his hair stand on end.

Once he exited the dance floor, Ye Fan's body moved with the agility of a leopard as he sprinted towards the bar's exit. Although he hadn't completed his first blood transformation, half a year of intense training, combined with two high-grade gene chains, had granted him strength far beyond that of an ordinary person.

The two pursuers weren't slow either. Just as Ye Fan was about to step out of the bar, a figure suddenly leaped at him from the doorway. As he prepared to evade, Ye Fan felt his blood surge, his heart pounding as if it might explode at any moment.

The sensation was all too familiar—it was the sign of his blood reacting violently to the presence of a strong opponent. However, this time the feeling was much weaker than what he had experienced in Billy's Gene Lab and was still within his control.

Even so, Ye Fan didn't dare to be careless. Although he hadn't completed his first blood transformation, he was very close. The fact that the assailant could trigger a reaction in his blood indicated that this person had already undergone at least one blood transformation.

As he ran, Ye Fan suddenly came to a stop. His feet stuck firmly to the ground, and his body bent backward as if boneless, falling back in one swift motion. Just as he leaned back, a figure brushed past him, narrowly missing him.

Ye Fan's eyes fixed on the eerie scene before him. The creature that had just flown past him initially appeared to be a wolf-headed humanoid monster, but as it landed, it quickly transformed into a two-meter-tall snow-white wolf.

The entire transformation took less than half a second. The terrifying sight made Ye Fan's face change, and he couldn't help but exclaim, "Beast Warrior!"

Beast Warriors, also known as pseudo-gene warriors, were formidable foes.

Humans extract natural genes from the natural world and then inject them into their own genetic systems. These individuals are known as gene warriors. Beast warriors employ a similar method, but with one key difference: while gene warriors extract specific gene chains, beast warriors extract entire genetic systems.

To illustrate, consider a Fiery Python. The most valuable gene chain in its body is the one that controls fire. If a human possesses this gene chain, they can wield the power of fire, just like the Fiery Python.

Gene warriors typically extract this fire-controlling gene chain and inject it into their genetic system. However, isolating this specific gene chain from the complex genetic system of the Fiery Python and then extracting it intact is an astronomical task.

To accomplish this requires not only an astronomical amount of money but also an incredible amount of luck and talent. Even then, the success rate is less than one in a thousand. This is why each natural gene chain fetches an astronomical price and is often hard to come by, even if you have the money.

The difficulty in extracting natural gene chains limits the number of gene warriors. However, some people, desperate to become gene warriors, are willing to try a different method, even though this method is explicitly forbidden by the Yadis Federation government.

This method involves not extracting a specific valuable gene chain, but rather extracting the entire genetic system. The Fiery Python's fire-controlling gene chain is undoubtedly part of its genetic system. Since extracting just that gene chain is so difficult, why not simply extract the entire genetic system, with the fire-controlling gene chain included?

Although the methods differ, the outcome is the same—the valuable fire gene is extracted. However, once these gene chains are injected into the human body, the results are vastly different.

In nature, every organism has a complete genetic system, and no two genetic systems are exactly the same. This diversity is what makes life in the universe so varied and colorful.

Gene warriors introduce a foreign gene chain into their genetic system, which certainly impacts their original system. However, a genetic system is made up of many gene chains, and if the system is strong enough, the impact can be minimal.

But when an entire genetic system is injected into another genetic system, the situation changes drastically. Each genetic system is the foundation of a species and may contain thousands of gene chains.

Even the weakest genetic system, when injected into another genetic system, can have unpredictable and significant effects. If these effects are amplified, they can even alter the original genetic system.

Beast warriors are those who inject a complete natural genetic system into their own. The human genetic system is not particularly strong compared to others in the universe, so this practice is tantamount to suicide. One misstep could turn the person into an uncontrollable monster.

To minimize the risks, humans usually choose genetic systems from weaker creatures, increasing the chances of success. However, even when successful, the human will exhibit some animalistic traits, hence the name "beast warrior."

The beast warrior attacking Ye Fan had injected the genetic system of the Snow Wolf into his own. When he fights and activates the power of his blood, he can instantly transform into a Snow Wolf.

The Snow Wolf, however, is just an ordinary ferocious beast. Although it is fast and bloodthirsty, Ye Fan could handle it under normal circumstances. But this person had completed his first blood transformation and was also a beast warrior, meaning a fierce battle was likely inevitable.

Ye Fan quickly formulated a plan in his mind. As soon as the Snow Wolf landed, Ye Fan's body, which had just gone limp, rebounded like a spring, launching him towards the Snow Wolf.

The Snow Wolf was clearly caught off guard by Ye Fan's rapid response. While the wolf was still dazed from completing its transformation, Ye Fan's left fist, accompanied by a gust of wind, slammed hard into the left flank of the Snow Wolf.

Bang...

Awooo...

With a pained howl, the two-meter-tall Snow Wolf was sent flying over four meters by Ye Fan's punch. After landing the blow, Ye Fan didn't slow down; his figure blurred into a few afterimages as he charged toward the Snow Wolf, who had just hit the ground.

Although the beast warrior had transformed into a Snow Wolf, his strength far surpassed that of an ordinary one. Despite taking Ye Fan's punch head-on, he wasn't seriously hurt. Seeing Ye Fan closing in, the Snow Wolf's tail lashed out like a steel whip, snapping towards him with a sharp swish.

Ye Fan let out a cold snort. In his previous life as the renowned Thunder God, his combat experience was unmatched. Even though his current body limited his abilities, he still wasn't someone that a mere beast warrior could easily contend with.

As Ye Fan advanced, he twisted his body in a near-impossible arc, dodging the attack. The sight was so shocking that the Snow Wolf's eyes narrowed in disbelief. Was this still the body of a human, or was it more like a snake?

Strike when least expected, attack where unguarded.

Ye Fan's tactics embodied this principle perfectly. As the Snow Wolf recoiled its tail and lunged to bite, Ye Fan's fist continued its trajectory, striking the wolf's head squarely.

Awooo...

Another agonized howl tore through the night as Ye Fan's movements shifted. His fists rained down like a storm, relentlessly pounding the Snow Wolf. Though it seemed to take longer, the entire sequence lasted only four or five seconds. By the time the other burly man rushed out of the bar, all he saw was the Snow Wolf being utterly dominated, unable to fight back.
