A NEW BEGINNING
Cheer up, you're doing great standard, 'Ugh, come on, get in already.' She was my only friend, the person who kept me going. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I think I hate myself. My name is Emily, and I am a student at Springdale High School. I am not the type you mingle with; I am the shy type. It was our first time at Springdale High School. The sun was already out, beating down on me, the usual weather in Florida. It was surprising news when we heard about the admission to Springdale High School. It was good news, but not for an introvert like me. 'Must we attend this school? I would prefer our old school,' Emily said, touching her nose. 'We already talked about this. Studying at Springdale High will guarantee us good universities and jobs.' Faith and I met in a coffee shop where I normally had coffee. Our friendship started when I was almost molested by some bullies, but she stood up for me and defended me. Unlike me, she was not the calm type. She has long brown hair.
Our parents were normally not around, always busy on their business trips so Faith normally stays at my house. We were like sisters. Can you have a little patience, Faith? I'm trying to get over my fear here,' I said as I got into the back of the car, her long black hair brushing against my face. Faith was the lively type; she had been my childhood friend ever since she and her parents moved into town. She has been like a sister to me, although she can be crazy sometimes. Going to Springdale was kind of a dream come true for us because we worked hard for it, but even Faith could tell from my look that I was nervous. My nervousness and quietness started after the horrible event that happened in my past. It's something that I don't like bringing up. 'Please tie up your hair; I don't want your hair to get into my mouth while you're driving,' I commented as I brought out a book, staring directly into it. I can't believe that we're finally heading to Springdale.
"Finally, we were at the school ground. It's really warm here," I said shyly as I came down from the car. The school was something else - big, with students from all directions, a sprawling campus, and multiple buildings. As soon as we set foot in the school compound, the students started making comments. "I wish I could make her my girlfriend." "She is an angel!!!" "Someone should tell me her name?" "I'm falling for her already." "Are we heading to the office now?" Faith questioned, flying her hair behind her shoulders, confused about the students' comments about Emily. "Yeah," I said as we moved faster, trying to keep up and looking around to figure out where the office was. The school felt like a maze," I said, as Faith went over to meet one of the girls who seemed to feel like the queen of the school. As she purposely stepped on Faith, that was Annabel. She was Jack's ex, the charming and popular kid around school who seemed to have it all, and it was obvious that she hadn't gotten over their bre,ak up, and she was annoyed with the way we outshined her in school.
We later found the office through the directions to students, after which we were assigned to some students to show us around the school premises.
Annabel was known to be the most beautiful student around until Emily stepped in. She is from a rich family, and together with her two best friends, Lucy and Jane, they rule the school like a queen.
Emily, who was already feeling shy, was really surprised at the way she drew so much attention from the students.
Omg, who is this damn thing?
Jane asked in an annoying tone. No one noticed us, said Lucy.
"Who do you think you are to take our fame from us Annabelle said feeling angry already as she tried to slap Emily, but was stopped by Faith"
And who do you think you are to lay your filthy hands on my friend replied Faith as the fight started getting intense.
I was confused cause I didn't have time for all this.
"Don't mind them, they're just being jealous" one of the students said as they moved into a class ignoring Annabel and her friends
Annabel and her friends barged into the class angrily, they gave Emily a scary look and walked to their seat
"Don't mind them, they are jealous," one of the students said to Emily with a smile.
"Let's sit together," Faith said, holding Emily, 's hands, of course, who else am I sitting with if not you Emily replied her
Immediately...
Miss Love, one of the staff enters the class
She taught Economics and Music
"Good morning class," Miss Love said calmly
"Good morning, Ma" The whole class chorused
"You all Welcome to Spring Dale High School; my name is Miss Love said them calmly.
Some of us are new students here, so pls come forward and introduce yourself" Miss Love said with a smile
They all introduced their self until it was Emily, 's turn
"Hi I am Emily," Emily said bowing her head calmly
"You are beautiful Emily" The whole class chorused happily
Annabel and her friends boiled in anger and eyed Emily
"Emily, sit on any seat you want," Miss Love said to her with a smile
Emily walked towards the three empty seats and sat in the middle seat calmly.
Immediately everyone turned back and looked at her in shock
"Why is everyone staring at me like that?" Emily asks the girl in front of her
Her name was Sali, she was very fat and wasn't that pretty
"You are sitting in between the most famous kids around Sali replied softly
"Wow Emily said in surprise
"You will see" Sali whispers and faces the front
"Now, we will talk about economic improvement and..." Miss Love said halfway as Jack barged into the class
"Why are you late?" Miss Love asked him calmly
Jack gave her a strange look
"That's him" one of the students whispers into Emily's ears and faces the front
Emily was surprised, she noticed Jack's handsomeness and smiled and was surprised to see him cause his parents owned the mansion next to their house but she needed to concentrate cause her heart started beating and God knows" she doesn't dare to make such a move
Meanwhile, as Emily picked up her things to leave the classroom, she couldn't forget the feeling of being consumed. She tried her best to keep her mind on Miss Love's lesson, but it kept on wandering.
Faith can't know of this, she said inwardly
Just as she turned to the corner in the hallway, she was surprised to see him there. he seemed to have recognized her from afar; he had a bright smile across his face.
"Well" hello dear, he said as he came closer. Emily's heart skipped a beat as she could not stand him
"Hi" she whispered shyly with her head on the ground
As they stood there, frozen in the moment, Emily felt something she could not explain about him Little did she know, this chance encounter would change everything but she decided to look bold
"Hey, aren't you the n... next door I'm Jack," by the way he said,
"Emily," she replied, as she started blushing trying to avoid eye contact
Just as they exchanged their first smiles, a voice echoed down the hallway, making her scared, Emily's heart sank as she started leaving, pretending that nothing happened
"Jack, we need to talk," Annabel said, her tone icy and possessive.
Jack's smile disappeared, as he went out followed by Annabel whose eyes lingered around Emily angrily
And with that, Emily's world was turned upside down, leaving her wondering... who was Jack?
