Yohan packed his belongings, shoving them haphazardly into his backpack. He had no other bags or suitcases with him, so he decided to pay a visit to Yoh's bedroom.
Actually Yohan couldn't believe his luck, his uncle's two trusted servants had accompanied them to the hospital, which meant he was free to explore the house without any supervision. Typically, there would always be someone watching him and every corner of the house was under surveillance by CCTV cameras.
Quietly making his way down the hallway, Yohan soon arrived at Yoh's room. The room boasted the latest technology and high-end branded items, fitting for someone with such immense financial means as Yoh and their family. As he rummaged through Yoh's things, Yohan decided to taking the boy's big duffle bag and expensive watch.
Moving on to his uncle and aunt's bedroom, Yohan's fingers searched carefully for the key his aunt had hidden. After a bit of searching, Yohan was finally able to locate the key that his aunt had hidden away in their room. He quickly retrieved it and made his way over to the closet where all of their valuables were kept.
When he opened up the door, he couldn't help but feel slightly intimidated by the sight of three safes staring back at him. Out of those three safes, however, only one contained items that he knew how to unlock.
This particular safe held memories from a dark past, Yohan could still remember everything that had happened during his uncle's vicious attack on him in his uncle's bedroom.
Though they believed him to be unconscious at the time, Yohan had managed to peek through half-closed eyes and observe which buttons were being pressed - information which would now prove invaluable. His keen memory did not fail him as he entered each number with precision and watched as the door swung open.
Inside gleamed piles upon piles of money and jewelry, treasures that would enable Yohan to begin building a new life for himself free from his uncle's clutches.
"People who live off of others' money and show no gratitude are absolutely disgusting..."
A cold smirk spread across Yohan's face as he realized that most of his uncle's wealth came from insurance money left behind by his parents, but none of which had been given to him. He took almost all the jewelry, as well as all the money he could find.
With a newfound sense of confidence and empowerment, Yohan packed the rest of his belongings into Yoh's duffle bag. Along with the money and jewelry he had taken from his uncle's room, he couldn't resist adding in the small box that had been guarded so fiercely by his uncle. Even though it was sealed tight and impossible to open, Yohan relished the thought of seeing his uncle's fury when he realized it was missing.
"It's a shame I won't be able to see the look on his face when he realizes this box is gone...it would have been quite amusing," he said with a chuckle.
After that, Yohan stepped out of the house, he mentally preparing himself for his next obstacle - the security guards. He had considered climbing over the fence to escape, but as he quietly observed the gate from a distance, he was surprised to find that there were no guards in sight.
He waited for 10 minutes just to be sure before approaching the unlocked gate with caution. Was this some stroke of luck or something else entirely? Yohan didn't dwell on it too much; all he knew was that he needed to get away from there as quickly as possible. Without looking back, Yohan slipped out through the open gate and disappeared from there.
As he walked away from that house of torment, an indescribable feeling swelled up within him, a mixture of relief, anger, and perhaps even a hint of vengeance. For far too long, he had been mistreated and abused by these people who were supposed to care for him.
But now? Now things were different, taking what was rightfully his felt like justice and the freedom to do as he pleased without being controlled by their puppet strings was his right as a human being. They had taken that away from him at an early age, but not anymore.
Humming to himself with a sense of freedom, Yohan boarded a taxi to the train station. He knew that running away from town was the only option left for him now. After earning some money and getting a passport, perhaps he could escape overseas where no one would find him.
Two hours later on the train ride out of town, Yohan drifted off into a peaceful slumber with a smile on his face, dreaming of how angry his family members must be upon discovering their precious belongings missing.
But for now, all Yohan cared about was leaving behind the life that brought him nothing but pain and starting fresh somewhere new.
