He even went so far as to entrust that ominous box containing its dubious contents (which may or may not have included human remains) into Jed's care, asking him to temporarily hold onto it. The bodyguard accepted this request with all the enthusiasm one might reserve for receiving a shiny new toy.</p>

<p>Yohan couldn't help but marvel at how quickly Jed's demeanor seemed to shift from serious concern over curses and shamans to childlike glee at being entrusted with some potentially macabre object. It was almost enough to make one wonder if his eccentric protector wasn't secretly enjoying this whole ordeal like some grand adventure or puzzle game.</p>
