Where Belonging Lies

Mido returned to her room and took a note from the table, glancing at her schedule of studies and plans for a part-time job. She intended to work during the summer break to help cover the burden expenses she shared with her grandma. Mido hadn't told Yoomin and Inna about her plans, she was afraid they'd try to help, and she didn't want to burden them.

Mido's decision to run away from home stemmed from her dissatisfaction with her family. Although she was born into a wealthy household, she resented how they neglected her grandma. Mido's mother had married into money and had long forgotten her own mother. Living among the wealthy, Mido felt like an outsider, there only by their grace a feeling she despised. So, she left home to live with her grandma.

Mido's mom had a similar story. She, too, was often treated poorly by the rich family. But unlike Mido, her mom didn't mind. With money at her disposal, she could swallow any insult. It was something Mido could never understand.

Still, Mido sometimes regretted her decision. Without a source of income, she had to rely on her grandma, who was already burdened with her study and living expenses.

In contrast, Inna's focus was on lighter matters. She was excited about planning a trip with Jimin, hoping it would help him unwind from his stress.

Sitting at her laptop, she scoured through options for a memorable destination in Busan. As she explored various spots, she thought aloud, "Where should we go? Eulsukdo Island sounds perfect." With a smile, she reached for a notepad and began jotting down the details, already envisioning the relaxing getaway ahead.
