King Caesar had called for a quick dinner later that evening. All his children including his wife were seated according to their age. Princess Polami sat opposite Prince Andriel and Princess Pronel. Princess Carmella sat opposite Princess Sonya and Hanta. 'So I heard that your introduction ceremony is on the way' Andriel's mother said to Polami. 'Yes' Polami replied, her face down-wards. 'Polami what's wrong?' she asked. 'Do not act like you suddenly care' Polami replied. 'I am your mother, what type of a mother would not care about her own child?' she asked as rage boiled in Polami and then she outbursts 'You don't f*cking care about me, so stop pretending in front of my father' Polami said with rage.
'Young Lady, watch your language' Princess Pronel inquired. 'I know all of you, who pretend to love me in the eyes of my father but stab him in the back, I ain't gonna sit down here and be played like a fool, excuse me' Princess Polami replied and left the dinning table upstairs to her room. 'I'll go talk to her' Sayee and Carmella said to the King moving upstairs.
'You both, better talk some sense into her senseless head' King Caesar said but got no response from either of them. 'Father what's wrong with that idiot?' Princess Hanta asked. 'I don't know and neither do I care to know' The King replied. 'If she acts like this before getting her powers then imagine what happens after-wards?' Prince Andriel asked. Those words sank into the King's head so well that he could not stop thinking about it. His daughters wee all chatting at the dinner table when they noticed that their father was not with them mentally, then they all yelled "Father" at once to make him quit from his delusional day-dream.
'What's wrong?' Sonya asked. 'No-Nothing' King Caesar replied. 'But you are not here with us?' Princess Hanta asked. 'It's nothing' King Caesar replied. 'Please do not let what Polami did here earlier to bother you' Princess Pronel said. 'No it does not bother me a bit, now you all back to your dinner' The King said to them all.
******
'Why does father always do this to us?' Polami asked sitting on her bed with her sister Carmella on the right and her best friend and maid Sayee on the left. 'Sister, it's ok, I know that one day, all this shit will fall into place' Carmella replied. 'When? When will all this be fine? I can't wait any more' Polami said. 'Patience Princess is the greatest key and gift, with patience you will over-come their temptations' Sayee replied. For a maid Sayee was wise and acted like a mother, sister, aunty and ay female relative you could think of.
'Sister Sayee is right, with patience all wounds will heal' Princess Carmella said. 'Not when those old wounds are being made fresh and salted a million times' Polami replied. Immediately Carmella became confused. She did not understand what her sister was trying to say so she asked 'What do you mean?'.
'It was eleven years ago, I was playing with Andriel and Pronel. Father saw us and ordered a maid to send me out of the room. He locked me in a cup-board for 2 days and lied to our mother that I went missing. Soon he let me out and said 'Do not tell you mother what happened, if I see you near my children, you will be locked in here for a whole century now go to your mother'. 'I was so shocked that my own father uttered such words to me. He treated me like a disease that had no cure. I cried day and night to have a sibling and finally I had you, I named you Carmella' Polami replied.
Carmella immediately took deep sigh to digest what she just heard meanwhile Sayee sobbed silently. 'Couldn't you stop the maid?' Carmella asked. 'No, it was orders from the King' Sayee replied.
'Where you the maid that took me away from Andriel and Pronel?' Polami asked. 'Y-Yes' Sayee stammered and shivered like a chicken dipped into cold water. 'How could you?' Polami asked. 'It was the King's orders, I could not dis...' Sayee said as Polami rudely cuts in. 'How could you separate us?' Polami asked with tears in her eyes. 'Let me explain the full story' Sayee begged. 'There is nothing to explain, get out' Polami replied.
'My princess are you really asking me out of your room?' Sayee asked. 'Just get out of my f*cking room!!!!' Polami shouted and screamed at the top of her voice. There was a brief silence in the room which later cleared. 'I beg for my leave my princess' Sayee said bowing down and leaving.
DOWN-STAIRS
'Did you hear that?' Pronel asked. 'It sounded like Polami again' Hanta replied. 'After what happened here, she went up stairs to create a scene' Andriel said.
BACK UP-STAIRS
'Sister, you should not have shouted at her the way you did' Carmella inquired. Immediately Polami's attention turned to Carmella. 'Do you realize what she had done then? Do you?' Polami asked. 'But she tried explaining things to you' Carmella replied. 'What is there to explain?' Polami asked Carmella. 'What you did was not right and I will tell you that, if no one can' Carmella said the continued 'I am your sister...' Carmella said as Polami rudely cuts in 'Then act like one' she said.
Carmella was shocked that her own sister would say such to her the kind of sister bond they both shared. A long face was worn by Carmella who was not happy by what her sister said. Polami did not realize that what she said had hurt Carmella's feelings. Carmella stood up and walked up to the door, then stopped. She turned back half way to see if her sister was at all pitied but no she was still standing facing the window as solid as a rock. Carmella left the room shutting the door behind her.
Immediately Polami heard the slam she turned back as well to see if her sister stopped to gaze at her but no, she was gone. All Polami could feel was her presence slowly disappearing from the room.
