The next morning, the atmosphere in Ravenshore remained tense. The bright morning sun contrasted with the anxiety enveloping the town. Ethan, Avery, and Derek prepared to return to the old building, now reduced to charred remains. They knew that the answers might be hidden among the ruins.
When they arrived at the site, police tape still surrounded the burnt-out building. Debris was scattered everywhere, and the smell of smoke lingered in the air. Ethan, Avery, and Derek began gathering information from the nearby residents.
Ethan and Avery approached some locals living near the building. "Did you notice anything unusual after the fire?" Ethan asked an elderly man sitting on his porch.
The man shook his head. "Nothing unusual. After the fire, everything went back to normal. Nothing suspicious."
Avery thanked him and continued questioning other residents, but they all gave the same response—nothing strange had happened after the fire.
Feeling they had hit a dead end with the residents, they decided to enter the building area marked off by police tape. They tried to remember where the door to the basement was located. However, the debris and remnants of the fire made the search difficult.
"Ethan, try to remember. Where did we last see that door?" Avery asked, surveying the area.
Ethan thought for a moment. "I recall it being on the east side of the main room. But now, everything's covered in debris."
They continued searching, clearing away the debris blocking their path. After almost 15 minutes, Ethan finally found the floor section leading to the basement. "Here it is!" he exclaimed.
However, they faced a new problem. The floor was hard to open due to the fire debris. Avery sighed. "This will take time. How about we try the door that connects to the old warehouse corridor in the small forest on the town's outskirts?"
Derek nodded in agreement. "That's a good idea. We can't waste more time here."
The trio headed to the small forest on the town's edge. Their journey was accompanied by the sound of rustling leaves and distant bird songs. When they arrived, they saw the door was open, as if someone had recently exited.
Ethan and Avery decided to enter, while Derek hesitated. "What if there are traps, like bombs or something?" he asked, worried.
Avery tried to reassure Derek, "If we don't go in, we won't find any evidence."
Ethan added, "If you're not sure, Derek, you can wait outside."
But Derek's empathy and sense of responsibility compelled him to join them. "Alright, I'll come."
Avery and Ethan nodded. Armed with two flashlights, they explored the corridor leading to the building's basement. The corridor was dark and damp, with their footsteps echoing off the walls. When they reached the basement, they were surprised to find it empty, with some items appearing burnt, unlike the last time they were there when it looked like a secret lab.
Avery pondered for a moment, then said, "This basement has levels. That means there's another room above us."
They searched for the door to the upper level, and upon finding it, they saw that room was also burnt. Their suspicion that the fire started in the basement and was set deliberately to destroy evidence seemed accurate.
Avery grew suspicious. "There's no way they would let those machines and equipment burn unless they had another place to move everything."
Ethan nodded. "Judging by some burnt items here, I think this place isn't the only one and not the center of their operations."
Avery and Derek agreed.
Ethan and Derek searched for more evidence in the room but found nothing. They were impressed by the meticulousness of the Raven project members. Everything was done perfectly, leaving no gaps, making the case difficult to solve.
The trio exited through the initial door and returned to the small forest. On their way to the police station, the silence was palpable, each lost in their thoughts.
Ethan broke the silence, "Were there any strange incidents or threats received by detectives before us during this investigation?"
Derek shook his head. "So far, only since you took the case have there been incidents like these."
Avery added, "That means our investigation is making the Raven project people feel threatened."
Derek looked at Avery and Ethan. "We're on the right track. We have to stay alert and not give up. They might try to stop us, but we'll keep going."
"Yes, you're right," Avery replied.
When they arrived at the police station, Derek led them to the meeting room to discuss the next steps. "We need a more solid plan. They clearly don't want us to find out what they're hiding."
Avery and Ethan agreed. They spent hours planning their next moves, ensuring every detail was considered. Despite knowing that significant challenges awaited them, they were determined to uncover the truth behind the Raven project and stop the crimes that had plagued Ravenshore for too long.

As night fell, they finally completed their planning. The silent police station atmosphere pressed them to act quickly. Derek spread out a large map of the town on the table, pointing to several locations they suspected might be other hiding places for the Raven project.
"These are the locations we need to investigate," Derek said, indicating two points on the map. "These places are quite remote and not heavily monitored."
Ethan studied the map closely. "We need to split up. Avery and I can go to the first location, while Derek and another team can check the other."
Avery added, "We must be careful. They might already be aware of our movements."
They decided to move that night. Ethan and Avery headed to the first location, an abandoned sugar factory on the town's outskirts. Their journey was accompanied by the quiet night, only the sound of the car engine humming on the road.
Upon arriving at the warehouse, they found it deserted and dilapidated. Avery cautiously opened the warehouse door, ensuring no one was watching them. Ethan turned on a flashlight and began inspecting every corner of the room.
The warehouse was filled with old, haphazardly piled items. They combed through every nook, searching for any clues that might lead to the Raven project. After a while, Avery found a small door on the warehouse floor.
"Ethan, look at this," Avery said, pointing to the door.
They opened it and found stairs leading to a basement. They descended cautiously, their steps careful not to make noise. At the bottom, they found a large room. However, the room was empty, with only a few old factory tools left behind.
Ethan scrutinized the equipment. "It seems this building isn't the place they're using."
Avery looked around the room for other clues. "Yeah, you're right. Besides, this building isn't large enough. With that much stuff, they couldn't have moved it all here."
Avery and Ethan decided to leave the building. Shortly after, Derek called, saying they also found nothing at the building they visited. However, as they returned to their car, Avery suddenly received a message from an unknown number. The message contained only coordinates and the word "LAB." Avery showed the message to Ethan.
"What is this?" Ethan asked.
"It looks like a clue," Avery replied.
"Derek, we received a message containing a specific location. It seems like a clue for our search," Ethan said.
However, Avery looked suspicious. "Wait a minute. This message could be a trap. Who sent it? Why are there clear coordinates all of a sudden? This is too suspicious."
Derek, still on the phone, chimed in. "I feel something's off too. We need to be cautious."
Ethan thought for a moment. "Okay, we need a strategy to see if this is a trap. How about we send a small team to observe the location from a distance first? If anything looks suspicious, we can act immediately."
Avery agreed. "That's a good idea. We can send an undercover team to monitor the location. If there's any suspicious activity, they can signal us."
They quickly arranged the plan. A small team of undercover officers was deployed to the location indicated in the message. Meanwhile, Ethan, Avery, and Derek also headed there to monitor from a safe distance, ready to act if necessary.
The location was far from residential areas and took about 30 minutes to reach. After a while, the undercover team reported seeing several suspicious people moving around the building.
"Alright, team," Derek said through the radio. "Stay in position. We need to ensure what's really happening there before we move further."
Avery checked their weapons in the car. "We need to be ready for anything. If this is a trap, we need to be able to escape quickly."
Ethan nodded. "Right. Derek, do we have a backup team we can call if things go south?"
Derek replied, "Yes. Team Bravo is currently waiting on the west side. At least we have support."
While they waited, Ethan continued monitoring the activity around the building through binoculars. When he saw armed men starting to gather, the tension increased. "We need to be ready. This could be a trap," Ethan whispered to Avery.
Soon, the armed men began moving towards the undercover team. "They know we're here. Derek, we have to go in now!" Ethan shouted.
"Team Bravo, move in now!" Derek responded.
They moved quickly, storming the building with weapons ready. Gunfire erupted as they tried to incapacitate the guards. Derek, Ethan, and Avery also engaged, swiftly taking down several enemies, but the situation escalated as the enemies fought back more aggressively.
Ethan ducked, dodging bullets, while Avery took down her assailant with a precise shot. "We need to move fast, Ethan!" she urged, advancing forward.
The fight was intense. Their enemies were better trained than anticipated. Some of Ethan's team had to retreat while others continued pressing forward. Avery was nearly hit, but Ethan pulled her to safety just in time.
"More coming from the right!" Derek shouted. The team quickly repositioned to face the new threat.
As the firefight continued, Ethan saw one of their enemies trying to escape. "Not on my watch!" he yelled, chasing after him. He managed to bring the enemy down with a single shot to the leg, immobilizing him.
Meanwhile, Avery and Derek worked to neutralize the remaining enemies. Some managed to flee into the nearby woods, while others were captured. Derek and his team hurried to secure the captured ones.
"Make sure they're disarmed. We'll take them to the station for interrogation," Derek ordered.

At the police station, tension filled the air once again. Ethan, his emotions barely in check, began the interrogation. "Who are you and what were you doing there?" he demanded loudly.
The man smirked. "I'm just a hired gun. I don't know anything about this."
Ethan clenched his fists in frustration. "Who sent you? Tell us now!"
"And if I tell you, will you let me go?" the man retorted.
"Don't play games if you don't want to be here for a long time," Derek warned.
The man sighed. "I only received instructions through messages. This is the number that contacted me." He handed over a small note with a phone number written on it.
Ethan quickly took the note and contacted a friend at headquarters to trace the number, while Derek ordered an officer to take the man back to his cell.
After a few moments, Ethan's friend at headquarters reported that the number was disposable and couldn't be traced any further.
Ethan felt a surge of frustration. "They're toying with us again," he muttered, trying to keep his anger in check. "We need another way. We're too far in to back out now."
Derek and Avery nodded in agreement.
"We won't give up. We need to find another lead," Derek asserted.
Ethan took a deep breath, trying to calm himself. "Alright. We'll keep searching. Project Raven won't get away with this."
Derek, his gaze steely, nodded once more. "We'll make sure they pay for all their crimes."
