Ch 27: Offered Hand

"I assume that you can get to where you want to on your own from here. Call me once you are done with school. I won't come to pick you up, but I will meet you at the gates."

The bodyguard stayed with Lisa until they reached the gate. Once there, he let go of her and turned on his car.

He seemed to have no intention of helping Lisa reach her destination, which suited her fine.

It was better for her not to be under someone else's care, and she had more than enough time to get to school.

The early morning roads were deserted. The sun barely broke the horizon, and even the wild animals were asleep.

Lisa did pass a few groups of wild dogs on her way, but they quickly ignored her and looked away. It felt weird to be ignored like this, but Lisa didn't mind it.

Walking helped clear her mind, and Lisa felt much better when she reached school.

Lisa thought she had arrived early to school but was shocked when she reached the gate.
