Jake paused, informing Emily that all he needed to know was if she agreed and that everything was just a farce.
Eventually, he let it go, sat on the sofa, and watched Emily place the paperwork on the coffee table. She was determined to sign.
Jake held his breath, waiting for Emily to sign, when they heard a loud voice in the corridor.
The voice sounded from an older person; Emily assumed it was Jake's grandfather, Chairman Lewis. She halted in midair, pen in hand, her innocent face worried.
"Where is my granddaughter-in-law?" Emily!!! "Where are you?" the voice cried out for Emily.
The door sprang open, and a distinguished older man walked in with a commanding presence to where Emily was sitting.
His lively smile highlighted his still-prominent features, and his eyes twinkled excitedly.
Emily stood up cautiously, ready to accept the familiar, cheery, friendly pleasantries.
