The East

"Dear

Alicia,

This

is my actual last letter to you. Dad woke up. He told me and Seth that there is

a time machine in the East as well. So, we are going on a risky mission to

steal their time machine. "Detective Guptill" who was Maeve Livingston, yes

Seth's friend. All the squad members returned because of him as well. He is

going to officially be arrested soon. I'm just wondering. Why would he kill his

father? I am warning you. Tell Seth to keep an eye on Maeve! Maeve is the

biggest suspect in dropping the nuclear bomb! I still can't believe Maeve would

kill his father. Alicia, even if this doesn't make a change to our timeline, I'll

be so happy for you if your ending is a happy one. I might not get a happy

ending but I'm glad I'm able to help make a happy ending. Me and you have come

such a long way. I remember when Squad 1 and 2 took my letters to deliver them

to you but they never reached you. You can do this, because we are the preventers."

I

put the letter in the envelope. I put the stamp on it, and I was about to write

from Alicia to Alicia. I looked at Seth and everyone else. I changed it to, To

Alicia, From "Anti-Nuclear".

"Hey

Seth. I don't have space in my bag. Can you put this letter in your bag?" I

asked. He sighs. "Another one of those letters? How are you going to give it,

no time machine no letters." Seth says. "I am very well aware. If this mission

is a success, we will have a time machine. One time machine, one letter." I

giggled. Me and Seth laughed for a bit. As we were riding the large truck

towards east following the map, dad drew us. I looked out the window and after

10 years, I could see some stars. "Seth! Look, stars are getting a bit visible!

That means we have entered the East territory." I spoke. "Alicia, how are you

always speaking about the stuff you love with so much enthusiasm?" Seth asks.

"If you love something, your eyes will sparkle like the starry sky's back in

2010's!" I joke around. "How come you're not even a little bit scared?" Seth

asks. "I know it's scary. But nothing is scarier than your face back then." I

continue to fool around. "You know I saw you in the past with my own two eyes,

you were so goofy looking back then" Seth laughs. We both laughed for a while

at each other making both of our worries disappear. "You better make this world

pretty again!" I challenge Seth. "Just give me a couple years and it will be

done," Seth says with confidence. "I'll be waiting!" I answer. A few hours pass

by in the truck. The truck is slow because of how big it is. It's super big,

big enough to carry the time machine. Dad told us the exact width and length of

the time machine, how much it weighs, and pretty much all the information we

need. We parked in a hidden area. Because of the misty air, it will be hard for

them to see us, but also hard for us to see them. We got out of the car and ran

towards the lab my dad worked in. We snuck in by climbing ropes. It was around

2 in the morning, so there was hardly any security. "Guys load the time machine

into the truck!" I whisper. Alicia, Seth, and the whole squad successfully get

into the machine room, unplugging the device and transporting it to the getaway

vehicle. "The machine is successfully loaded into the truck" a squad member

informs "Great now let's get out of here" Seth replied. "Whose there!?" A guard

is alerted. The whole squad froze at that moment thinking what do they do now?

"We are sent by the high commanding officer in charge of the headquarters" I

come up with an excuse. The guard looks at us, hesitant after hearing what I

just said. His stare still explains that he is suspicious of us. "Connect me to

the headquarters right away helix 2-1, a group of suspicious soldiers are

claiming to be sent by the headquarters" the guard sends a signal to his walkie-talkie.

"Connecting you to the headquarters right away" a voice through the comms is

heard. The whole squad is nervous now, worrying that their cover will be blown.

"There was no squad sent by the headquarters at this time" a voice replies

through the comms confirming the guard's suspicion. The guard is about to hold

his gun out to detain the squad. "You are all under arrest under the East

headquarters orders, so now put your hands up and slowly step out of the vehicle"

The guard orders everyone to surrender. "There seems to be a misunderstanding

over here" Seth tries to convince the guard. "I won't hesitate to use my weapon

if you all don't surrender, so I repe-" the guard is interrupted by a gunshot. I

look to my right and see that one of our squad member shot the guard. All of us

are now in a state of panic. "Are you crazy!? Why did you shoot him?" another

squad member shouts in panic. Panic could be seen in his eyes, the person who

shot the guard. "Alright that's enough everyone get in the truck immediately,

the whole east is about to be alerted soon" Seth calms everyone down. I am

still stunned but I quickly grasp the situation and get in the truck. The guard

is now lying lifelessly on the ground, voices can be heard through his radio. Just

as we were about to escape through the truck, loud sirens went off in the

facility. "They have been alerted now," I tell the driver to speed up. As we

near the exit, we see that it has been blocked by tanks and military vehicles.

The driver turns around to find another exit but all of them are blocked by the

East's military. We all know that we are doomed, so we come up with a plan.

"Eagle 3-1 you are going to travel back in time and deliver the last letter to

my past self" I demand. "I am sorry, but I don't think that I can do that Ms.

Kennedy" Eagle 3-1 still feels guilty about what he did earlier. "I know you

can do it, and it wasn't your mistake that you shot the guard in panic" I try

to convince him. The squad member hesitates for a moment but eventually agrees

to my command. Seth and the rest of the squad members get out to buy some time

for me to activate the machine so that Eagle 3-1 can travel back in time

through the machine. Gunshots go off and the rest of the squad starts to run

low on ammunition, the machine starts running and I start inputting the dates

for arrival Eagle 3-1. "Remember when you get there, the first thing you do is deliver

the letter through mail. Make sure to mail it to my home address so that the

past me can get my final message" I inform Eagle 3-1 of the mission. "Yes, I

will make sure to deliver the envelope to the mail first thing I get there" he

responds. "Good luck!" We say our final goodbyes to each other, and he travels

back in the past. Most of our squad members are down and out as the East

military approaches close to us and surrounds us. I join in the battle helping

Seth and his squad. "It won't be long before they capture us!" I whispered to

Seth. "It'll be alright Alicia. I promise you that, I'll make sure we return

safely back to the West." Seth promises. "Thanks, Seth. If I was alone on this 10-year-long

journey. I don't think I would have made it this far without you." I show my

gratitude. "If it wasn't for you I woul-" I get interrupted by a gun shot.

Suddenly my ears start ringing, I feel lightheaded and I'm in extreme pain. I

look at Seth and he has the most shocked look on his face that I've ever seen

before. I couldn't hear him, but I read his lips, I think he said my name. I

looked down, and all I could see was blood. My eyes started getting very blurry.

The last thing I saw was Seth. As Alicia falls to the ground, Seth tries to

catch her before she falls but it's too late. The brother reaches out to his

sister, his tears falling uncontrollably. He looks around and warns the remaining

members of his squad to escape as he sees a tank looking towards their

position. A loud boom goes off, the area where the squad was held up and the

truck. Seth makes a run for it towards a narrow alley but as he is doing so,

the whole area lights up into pieces. A few more bombs are shot towards the

area as everything goes quiet. The military soldiers approach the area

carefully to confirm everyone is dead. "Sir, we have confirmed that the squad

is dead. There are 12 bodies found here. We retrieved the time machine they stole.

We assume that their are the terrorists from the West" a soldier reports to one

of his high rankings official. The soldiers collect the time machine and any

intel from the dead bodies they could find.
