Chapter 35

She drove slowly, making sure not to jostle Lucas, her mind racing on a safe place to stay. She had to go to the mansion to get something important, and she couldn't take Lucas along. What safe place can she keep him, her grip tightened on the stirring wheel.

Suddenly, a name flashed in her mind, and she turned the wheels in the bakery's direction. She looked back to see him still unconscious in a hospital gown.

She faced the road with his pale face stamped in her mind. She thought she was rid of emotions, trained cruelly to snuff them out, but being near him proved otherwise. Anger, fear, pleasure, hatred- emotions she never thought herself capable of feeling. And now, all she felt was destruction. They would pay for every injury he suffered today.

At the bakery entrance, she parked the car in a secluded place, scanning the area for any suspicious figure in the vicinity; she locked the car and activated the anti-theft alarm.
