Chapter 66- Nine more to go

A figure climbed through the window of the building, creeping down the hallway. The shadow moved into a room where a man lay sleeping, bathed in moonlight. The metal of a dagger gleamed as it was aimed straight at the man's throat.

The bedcovers trembled slightly as blood began pooling over the sheets. Alex cleaned her dagger, pulled out a book, and crossed off a name. 'Nine more to go,' she thought as she left the house, slipping past the unaware guards.

Walking far away from the building she entered a car and drove back to Kade's house. Getting there, she washed off and climbed into the bed, snuggling into his hands, sighing contently, she drifted into sleep.

In another city, Kelvin lay on the rooftop of a tall building, his sniper rifle in place, target locked in the scope. His target was hosting a party to gather support for the upcoming vote when a bullet passed clean through his head. The crowd screamed in panic as people fled the ballroom.
