"Gu Annan, do you mind making a half-hour late birthday wish?"
Her face piled up with a smile as she blinked at Gu Annan.
Somehow, after spending the whole day with him, she still missed the exact time.
If it hadn't been for her insistence on cutting the cake in the evening, they might not have missed it.
*
Twelve forty.
The candles on the cake were lit.
"Lu Wanwan, you're really childish," Gu Annan said, his face growing stiffer as he looked at the eager eyes beside him.
He hadn't expected her to be so insistent on such a trivial matter.
"Hurry up, the cake is all ready. If you don't make a wish and blow out the candles, wouldn't that be a waste?" Lu Wanwan coaxed the reluctant man with a pleasing tone and a smiling face.
His handsome face almost spelled out his disdain for such childish acts.
"Just this once," he said after quite a struggle.
"Absolutely just this once."
Birthdays only came once a year, after all.
