"Dad, let's hurry up and eat," Gu Nanqiao chimed in, "I didn't eat much at lunch and I'm starving."
Gu Yuanshan also knew that worrying about things out of his control was pointless, so he decided to put his thoughts aside, "Let's eat first."
The dishes prepared tonight were indeed plentiful. Since Gu Kesi hadn't come back from school, it was just the three of them and they couldn't even finish half.
Gu Nanqiao's appetite wasn't great either; after a bowl of porridge and a few bites of food, she was full.
She put down her chopsticks, "I'm full."
The moment the words left her mouth, her cell phone rang.
Gu Nanqiao glanced at the screen, then picked up the phone, "I'm going out to take a call."
Stepping out of the dining room, she finally pressed the answer button and placed the phone to her ear, "Hello."
A man's low voice came through the phone, "Have you eaten?"
"Just finished."
She answered his questions with minimal words, saying no more than necessary.
