Chapter 13: The Child Will Stay

Although she didn't understand much, she did realize that once Sun Xiaomei and her daughter were in the news, they wouldn't be able to keep the birth of the baby girl a secret!

Every time Sun Xiaomei gave birth, she did so without anyone knowing. No one knew they had children, let alone that the children were given away.

But once it became known, it would be difficult to give the child away…

If the child couldn't be given away, that wouldn't do at all; her son was a public official and could only have one child. With this "loss-making goods," where would her grandson come from?!

"Ma'am, it's really strange of you. This isn't a bad thing; why won't you let it be broadcast? Besides, I have already obtained Ms. Sun's consent; as long as she agrees, it's fine. Moreover, I've sent the draft and the photos to my colleagues, and I reckon the news will come out soon," He Youcai said intentionally.

Fang Mother was even more agitated upon hearing this!

"How can you do this; if I say no broadcast then no broadcast, you are infringing upon... that's right, infringing on our right to privacy! If you dare to publish it, I'll sue you!" Fang Mother threatened fiercely, looking as if she could eat someone alive.

Although He Youcai was an honest journalist, he was also a fearless young hothead.

For the sake of a news article, he wasn't afraid of anything or anyone, no matter who they offended.

He had come across tough characters before, let alone someone like Fang Mother.

He Youcai chuckled, "Fine, let Ms. Sun sue me. Now I finally understand what you meant in the hospital room. You're so agitated because you don't want your newborn granddaughter – in your eyes, she's a loss-maker. But don't forget, you're a woman, too. Oh right, I've heard your son is a public official, tsk, tsk, this mindset of valuing sons over daughters is not acceptable. If the state finds out, your son could lose his job."

Fang Mother and Fang Xu both turned pale.

They hadn't expected their conversation in the hospital room to have been overheard.

"Did Sun Xiaomei blurt out something?!" Fang Mother, like a cat on hot bricks, cried out angrily.

"Ms. Sun hasn't said a thing, but your reaction has said it all," He Youcai snorted coldly, flung his messy hair, and walked away with an air of arrogance.

Lin Zhi also cooperated by staring at them with a disdainful look, making Fang Xu embarrassed to the point of wishing he could hide, while Fang Mother was so humiliated she nearly exploded.

"Axu, tell Sun Xiaomei to stop them from airing the news, or else our Fang Family won't tolerate her. I'm not done with her!" In a fit of angry shame, Fang Mother spat out the harsh words and turned away, storming off.

"Are you going to do as she says?" Lin Zhi suddenly stared at Fang Xu and asked.

Fang Xu was startled for a moment, knowing that his mother wouldn't let the matter rest. But he had already compromised time and again.

This time, he didn't want to compromise anymore.

As if making a resolute decision, Fang Xu firmly said, "I won't. This child is also mine…"

Having spoken, he entered the hospital room, and Lin Zhi didn't follow him in.

Since neither spouse was prepared to compromise this time, she believed they would keep the child. The process, however, might be quite complicated.

But Lin Zhi didn't just walk away from the issue; she and Sun Xiaomei exchanged phone numbers, making it easier to stay in touch later on.

If the child really was given away, she would think of other solutions to the problem. When the time comes, they couldn't blame her for not being polite.

It wasn't until the afternoon, after He Youcai's news was released on Weibo, that Sun Xiaomei finally left the Hospital.
