Fu Huaichu woke up to find his fever had subsided.
Upon realizing where he was, he immediately sat up to look for Su Zhiruan.
He only relaxed when he saw Su Zhiruan busy heating something.
"Ruanruan, am I cured?" Fu Huaichu came over and sat beside her. The two of them sat around the flame, the warm glow casting on their faces, creating a comforting atmosphere. "You should go to sleep too; I'll keep watch here."
Su Zhiruan didn't speak, just shook her head, focusing intently on heating the heart.
This was also something Fu Huaichu had taken off the carriage; it had quickly frozen after getting wet, sticking together.
There were delicate dumplings and sweet pastries.
"Let's eat something first to regain some strength," Su Zhiruan said, using two sticks temporarily fashioned into chopsticks to flip the food on the stone slab. These items were all makeshift, the slab was flat and just right, which she had found and scooped up to use as a makeshift pan.
