Finding:
Aria waited for Kael in the clearing in the forest, sitting under the old oak tree. Her pulse raced with nervousness and excitement; she could never feel secure and alive until by his side. The fragrance of moist earth and pine filled the air, but there was something more—his aroma, the one that always kindled the flame inside her.
Then Kael materialized, his towering frame slicing like a shadow through the starry forest. His eyes softened as he drew nearer, and he took her in his arms without saying anything. But neither of them could shake the weight in the air tonight.
Like they always did, they spoke softly, seizing peaceful moments from their turbulent world. Their trade secret meetings had been exciting initially, but now there was a risk involved. They were aware that being discovered was inevitable.
And then it took place.
It was not the wind behind them that was rustling the foliage. Aria's senses, ever as keen as a wolf's, detected the smallest change in energy. Her eyes darted toward the source as she tensed. Kael's body grew hard, and he tightened his hold on her when the aroma of other people entered the room.
"Aria." Her brother Ryn emerged into the moonlight as a deep voice growled out of the darkness. There were three more members of her pack standing next to him, and his face was one of astonishment and rage.
"You're hanging out with him?" Ryn spat, her eyes burning as he gave Kael a look.
Aria felt a sinking feeling of dread in her gut. They had been located.
Escalating hostilities
The information went viral. Both packs were commotion by daybreak.
The looks from the elders in her pack were almost too much for Aria to endure as she stood in front of them. The alpha, her father, walked in front of her, his expression twisted between incredulity and rage.
"You're going to turn on your own blood?!" His voice reverberated around the room as he growled. "With our enemy's son?"
With her heart racing but her determination unwavering, Aria kept her ground. "I cherish him."
"Affection?" Her mother snarled, the word dripping with contempt and incredulity. This isn't affection. This is insane. You have put our entire situation in jeopardy, everything that we have shielded for many years.
Aria's inner wolf agitated noisily, but she made herself stay composed. "Kael and I did not select this. We were chosen by the relationship.
Her father had fiery eyes. After that, you'll unpick it. This will cease right now.
Kael was fighting his own war across the river in the meantime.
The leader of the opposing pack, his father, was towering and commanding, his voice icy with subdued rage. "Kael, you have brought shame on our pack. How could you let yourself become attached to her? A White Canine? The slander hovered above them like a toxic fog.
Kael balled his hands up. He had always complied with regulations and been the obedient son. However, Aria had altered him and reawakened a part of him he was unable to ignore. With a firm voice, he declared, "I will not allow you to tear us apart."
His father's eyes become dangerously narrowed. "You will lose everything if you don't stop this. Your future, your title. The cost is not worth it for her.
But she was the only thing that was important to Kael.
Surpassing Anticipations:
The wolves' animosity for one another reached a breaking point. Where there had been uneasy but steady peace, clashes broke out at the borders. Families were estranged from one another, old hurts were revived, and the threat of war hovered over both sides.
Despite always being on guard, Aria and Kael were like wolves—wild, rebellious, and unstoppable when motivated by love. Despite the patrols and the threats, they managed to get together.
In a single secret as they met under the stars, Kael held Aria's hands and looked into hers. Aria, they won't ever stop. They're not going to accept this.
"I understand," she muttered. "But I can't allow them to separate us."
His hold grew more firm. "I refuse to allow them. whatever the cost.
Their love had turned into an uncontrollable, ferocious wildfire. They remained steadfast despite the wrath of their family. They had a relationship that neither of them could break. It was more than simply a physical bond; it was a bond that went beyond their disagreements and rivalries. Indeed, fate was at play.
However, those around them were not understanding. Aria's relatives threatened to separate her from the pack if she didn't sever the link. Kael's father had threatened to reject him, depriving him of his fortune and his place as the alpha going forward.
One night, when they were hiding away in the forest, Aria whispered, "We could run," her head resting on Kael's chest.
"And where?" he inquired, running his fingers over her hair.
"Anywhere is fine. as long as I'm in your company.
Her comments made Kael's heart hurt, but he understood that running wasn't the solution. Their roots were as solid as their love. Their families and packs were the only things they could not give up. Nevertheless, they were unable to continue acting as though their clan rivalry was more significant than their relationship.
The Position:
At the following full moon gathering, Aria stood in defiance before her pack. Her firm and unyielding voice resounded throughout the area.
"You can remove me from my position and expel me, but I won't abandon the bond. I'm not going to ignore him.
With his beast lurking behind his skin, her father hissed. "You put him ahead of your own family?"
Aria said, her voice quivering from the weight of her words, "I choose love." And none of you are able to comprehend that.
Kael stood in the adjacent pack, facing his own judgment. He made it clear in front of his father and the council that he would stay with Aria at any cost.
His father said, "You will no longer be my son if you choose her."
Although Kael's heart was racing, he wasn't going to back down. So be it, then. I refuse to spend my life in shackles.
As the chapter comes to a close, Aria and Kael are each poised at the brink of their own universes, prepared to confront whatever is ahead in unison.
